Yanda

50 posts in this topic

Yanda is the best offensive lineman in the NFL and has been for a while. Will he make it to the HOF? Who knows? Perhaps if he continues to line up PFF stats like he's been for hte next few years, sure!

Grubbs was better in pass pro but was never a better run blocker. At this point I think Yanda is better at both than Grubbs ever has been.

and grubbs was a first rounder.. i like KO's nastiness and i think he is a better run blocker than grubbs but he seems to get penalized more than i would like, grubbs had a very good head on his shoulders and you very rarely heard his number from the ref. honestly i would LOVE to see what grubbs would have been in this kubiak scheme, he was a very smart guard and i think that plays a big factor in how successful this system is.

If he does i think he could thank pff. A lot of people don't know how to judge lineman. But with its growing popularity people now know who is actually good, and yanda has been at the top or very close to it as long as i can remember

Lol thought we were talking about Yanda...KO's got a higher ceiling than both of them. They are both technicians (although Yanda has some sheer power to him), while KO is a physical mismatch at the OG position...and considering he's going up against 300+ lb DLinemen that's insane to think about.

I would say Yanda is our best lineman since Ogden but KO is our most physically gifted (with a dishonorable mention for Jared Gaither).

guards have a TOUGHHHH time getting into the HOF, jerry kramer still hasnt made it(if im not mistaken...)

If Jerry Kramer isn't in the HOF, I don't think many guards should be in the HOF.

People don't realize how difficult it is for a guard to make it in. Kramer is among the best guards in NFL history and he's not in.

They can say all they want that Yanda's the best guard in the NFL, but that alone won't get him in. He's a guard.

This is, again, coming from Yanda's biggest fanboy. He's my favorite player in the league. I just don't think he'll make it in, unfortunately, due to his position. He absolutely should be though.

Probably my favorite part of PFF is interior lineman.  Judging individual lineman takes a lot of time and film angles.

There are 12 straight up guards in the hall several others who played s C or T as well. So it is hard but it can happen and recently Randall McDaniel got in I think excellence will eventually make it happen but as a G it will take awhile.

Where would you rank him among all time Ravens, from a pure talent perspective?

Reed

Ray

J.O.

Suggs

Flacco

Yanda

Ngata

Cmac

Look right? Was very difficult putting them in order. You can make a lot of arguments here. I expect Joe to steadily climb but he'll have to make the Hall for him to go pass the top 3

It's hard to project a olineman 3-4 years down the road.. When you watch guys like JO play... All other olineman seem like second rate. Marshal can be in the hall of very good right now, but time will tell.

Agreed there.. Anything can happen on any play

Man that's tough... I may have to include Jamal in this list and put him over Cmac and yanda right now.. I just don't know on ngata..

One of only 29 RB's in the 10,000 yard club and one of only 7 in the 2,000 yard season club and he easily could've had way more stats if not for injuries

Jamal would be next...His three years in Clevland just really bother me though since we're rivals.

But we had him in his prime years and he was a beast. I can understand putting him infront of Cmac. Yanda's consistent dominance, versatility and durability put him in front of Jamal for me though. Also more all pros

Yea hear that.. Guess whenever I think of Jamal I automatically think 2003 and as ravens fans that may be the single most dominant season by a player in franchise history...

Actually it's gotta be

It's definitely tough for current guards or this generation guards to get in HOF. Not saying they won't but there are too many greats from the 80s and 90s that should be in but aren't at this point.

I think it will be interesting if we end up with a Super Bowl of ravens v cowboys this year the conversation being the best two o lines in the league squaring off. Could garner a lot more attention to the position in general and obviously add to Yandas resume and attention nationally.

If we did make it that would be the ideal match up for me. Cowboys are one of the least threatening team to me. That and our strength on defense should contaim their strength. Also get some revenge on Rolando.

I still think Yanda needs to retire a Raven. I'm talking staying here his entire career, no one day deal thing. I'd rather give him an extension before Ngata.

Not much question in my mind that he'll get an extension at some point. I don't see us letting the best G in football leave.

The Ravens have never lost to the Cowboys, so I wouldn't mind that match up.
