Yanda

If marshal yanda has 2-3 more seasons of this insane standard of play would you consider him a hof'er?

I would. I think hes the best linesman not named ogden we have ever had. Probably the best value pick ever. I spent the whole day watching games on league pass and man..the only guy ive seen in recent years that i can compare him to is evan mathis.

He is our best player..sadly being a guard gives you little media coverage.he's worth every penny. He's actually the highest ranked offensive player in the nfl ( the 2nd is aaron rodgers)

As much as I worship him and kiss the ground he walks on, I don't think there's a good chance he makes the HOF. He certainly has HOF talent, but I don't think he gets HOF recognition. Also, linemen typically need to be perennial Pro Bowlers to get a shot at the HOF. I'm talking 9-12 Pro Bowls. Yanda has less than half that right now.

Also, I think we're going to see fewer and fewer linemen voted in every year. Sports media just doesn't give any love--at all-- to offensive linemen.

It's certainly not out of the question, but I do think it's unlikely. His resume is a little thin and nobody outside of the AFC North knows who he is.

He's the best offensive lineman in the NFL this season according to PFF. He has been great for several years now. He has All-Pro and Pro-Bowl recognition in addition to a SB and a lot of playoff success. As of right now, no he probably does not make it into the HoF, but if he runs off 3-4 more dominant season I could see it happening.

I think he gets into the HOF if we continue our rushing/playoff success. Some O-lineman has to make it, and he is certainly one of the best. He'll at least get considered.

If he doesn't make the HOF, not because of his position but because of lack of skill, we probably have no HOFers on the current roster. For such a consistently good team, that's doubtful.

Maybe. He is definitely scrapping close at that point.

Yanda is recognized by almost everyone I talk to on other teams as a beast and the best guard in the league. He probably need over 6 pro bowls, and a handful of all pros to get in. He has the SB, so that helps him.

2-3? I'd going to go the stretch and say 5! Even after that I'd still say he'd get more Pro Bowl awards. Seriously, he's a beast and best of all, he has a NAME. Which is important in the Pro Bowl, a lot of people recognize Yanda's talents.

Yes, if he continues this strong play he'll get into the Hall.

More importantly, I think he has at least four more solid seasons at this level. I think he needs to remain a Raven for those years. I hope we extend this guy.

Well he's a 3x pro bowler and 3x all pro, plus has a ring.  Looking at the guys who've gotten in who were primarily guards and centers, Dermonti Dawson had 6 pro bowls and 7 all pros, Russ Grimm 4 and 4, Mike Munchak 9 pro bowls and 10 all pro selections, Dwight Stevenson 5 and 5, etc.  So I'd say if Marshall retired RIGHT NOW, then no, he's not in.  However, I expect him to be named to his 4th pro bowl and all pro team this year, he's a recognizable name when people ask "who is the best guard in the league", and he's at a decent age - he's a free agent after 2015, and I expect an extension to be done that will keep him in Baltimore another 3-4 years at least.  If he gets another few pro-bowls and all pro recognitions under his belt, he should be in the HOF some day.  I liken it to Aaron Rodgers - nobody would put Rodgers in the HOF RIGHT NOW based on what he's done, but most people feel that Rodgers is a shoe-in once his career's over.  I think the same with Yanda.

He has a PFF grade over 40, last time I checked. I know those grades aren't everything, but he is head and shoulders above every single guard in the league.

He's been an AllPro for 3 straight years in a row. Yes with 3 yrs of "insane play" he'd have to be strongly considered. Hopefully he goes 5-7 more years then shoo-in. His 1st 5 years of getting litlle recognition besides being solid could hurt him tho.

No, not even close for me. Players should have at least 10 years of dominance.

He's been dominant since he entered the league, he just didn't start garnering praise from national media outlets until 3-4 years ago.

Yea that's why pretty much every post says if he dominated for another 3-4 years

Having Wagner beside him for years and at least an average C will help him age well hopefully

4 more years like this and then maybe a year or two at the end playing decently and another SB ring and sure why not

Would help if offense was consistently good next handful of years as well to help keep bringing attention to him

I love the Yanda KO combo, we need to keep running it!  But man has everyone seen KO just picking up people like little kids on the playground, he is destroying LB's and D-line alike!  We are set for a long time in the middle-

To me, a lineman is a hard position to get HOF votes for... Basically, if you're not a tackle... It's gonna be hard and it's gonna take a long time. I know what he's done from his start until now, I still say no... He's a few years away from even being considered ... There was a time in his career that he wasn't even the best guard on out team... Grubbs was better until his final year here.

It's hard to project a olineman 3-4 years down the road.. When you watch guys like JO play... All other olineman seem like second rate. Marshal can be in the hall of very good right now, but time will tell.

Yanda is awesome.  I think of him as the bollard (concrete column formed as a buttress against vehicles)  in the line.  Strong and steady.

I agree that it's really hard for an interior lineman to get in the HoF, but it does happen. Yanda has played some OT as well, although I doubt that matters in the big picture. I don't agree that Grubbs was ever a better player than Yanda. There's a reason the Ravens let him walk and made sure to lock up Yanda.

Grubbs was better in pass pro but was never a better run blocker. At this point I think Yanda is better at both than Grubbs ever has been.

Does anyone have the article that said during that 2012 denver playoff game he decided to squirt water on himself to avoid being held? He became a favorite of mine after that.

I've heard it said that if an O-lineman is being talked about its usually a bad thing.  It's probably a good sign that he's not.
