No offense to Kubiak, but if he had heart problems from the stress he faced while at HOU, god knows he's gonna have stress as the HC of the Jets.  Besides, he may not even be taken

I just can't see Kubiak coaching the Jets.  I don't think he wants a new project team to work with like he had with the Texans when he got the HC job there.  It's too much stress and aggravation.  I would say he would like a closer to complete team.

I dont think he is going to want such a fixer upper.

From everything that I've heard about Kubiak, is that he wants a HC job.  He's not exactly a hot item (like DeCosta) so he really can't be picky.

I could very well see Kubiak taking the Jets HC gig if offered.

I don't think that they should be allowed to even state that they want to interview these guys if they are in the playoffs....  it's a huge distraction.  The NFL should require that any coaches or coordinators in the playoffs cannot be designated as potential candidates until the playoffs are done.

Bigger problem is their QB situation - Geno Smith is not the answer, and 3 of the 5 teams ahead of them need a QB.  I think if they had the number 1 pick and they called Gary and told him "We're taking Mariota, we want you to coach him" he'd consider it - Mariota would be probably one of the 3 most talented QBs Gary has ever worked with.  But the way the draft order is set at least three teams ahead of them - Tampa Bay, Tennessee, and Washington - could be looking QB and one will take Mariota.

I feel Tampa Bay, at least to my knowledge, is taking Mariota.

Odds: one or two playoff wins = 0 % chance he is back

no wins=50 % chance he is back ,maybe less as

some teams appear to be interested already.

They aren't allowed to interview in weeks where their teams are playing in the playoffs.

There's no possible way to stop media outlets from reporting that a team is interested in or wants to interview a certain coach, however.

I haven't heard a thing about Kubiak wanting a HC job. Everything I've heard indicates he's happy to stay.

I'd go exactly opposite from you. The longer we stay alive, the more time those teams have to interview/hire other people who aren't tied up in the playoffs.

It was talked about a few times on 105.7, I think the Vinny & Rob show perhaps.  Some source close to Kubiak said that he really wants to be back in the HC rank.  I wish I could remember the exact person who stated it.  Not concrete by any means, but it makes sense.

What else is he going to say given his position?

IDK, I can't give you anything concrete, but my read is that he likes what he is doing as an OC. Given his health history, I think it leans to him staying an OC, at least for a while. And I'm sure if Steve wanted him to stay on he would pay any needed premium.

i don't think kubiak would go to the jets. NY is a meat grinder. the smart team to take cubic would be atlanta. they have the skill players for kubiak to leverage. that being said i would be pissed if we lost another coach this year and the old fart DC from pittsburg stays put again.

as far as cubic wanting to be a HC. once you tasted the penthouse you don;t want to work in the basement. all of these guys want another HC gig and that includes spags.

Apart from maybe Falcons, the rest of the franchise that needs a HC is a disaster.   Stay Kubiak.   Its not worth embarassing yourself and be a 1-year coach on Jets/Raiders/Bears

I agree with you,I do think it takes time away from their focus, if the coaches are still playing then it should be some type of tampering, idk,

Oh, Vinny and Rob's show? Cool. Just throw in the towel now cause Vinny claims to know a guy that says Kubiak wants to be a HC again.

Just kidding. Vinny's an idiot, and the vast majority of his bold claims amount to nothing.

Sorry , teams want winners , they will wait.

Every year there are prized coordinators on teams that go deep into the playoffs that don't get hired because teams do not just sit back and wait. Happens all the time, and they all say that is the main factor. Kubiak's resume won't look drastically different to anyone based on how we do this month when you look at it in terms of his extensive career body of work. Our best chance to keep him is to keep winning until all the jobs are filled. That is a fact, not an opinion.

No they won't. Otherwise every single team needing a HC last year would have waited until after the superbowl to interview the Broncos' OC and the Seahawks DC. A team isn't going to wait for a guy that might just turn them down when they can get a guy they like now. No GM wants to be the guy that waited for Kubiak, got turned down, and then left with bottom of the barrel prospects because the other interesting choices were already hired.

Could see him with the Jets. They've got some personnel already in place with Ivory, Harvin and Amaro that could do well in his system. He would have to rebuild the Oline almost from scratch and draft/sign a veteran QB but it wouldn't surprise me if he was up for all of that.

Hopefully he prefers working for a well respected and nicely ran organization more so than a circus in a big market.

I'm not quoting it as truth.  I don't even think it was Vinny who said it. It might have been Preston on MMQ or a guest on Vinny & Rob (it wasn't a host).

I don't think Kubiak should take a HC job now.  He'd be best to come back and work with a full compliment of offensive pieces.  Then if he so desires a HC job, he'll have a better lot to choose from.
