Merged: Kubiak Discussions

So, can someone sell me on running backs coach, Thomas Hammock, potentially becoming the next O.C. for the Ravens? Why should I be optimistic for Hammock, if he were to be the next offensive coordinator?

He's had a year to learn off Kubiak and form his own ideas, we can expect a strong running game (Melvin Gordon could be a fun prospect too) and he's young enough to have a lot to prove and some fresh ideas.

^Just a re-hashed post from the other thread, but that's the gist of why I think he should be the next man up.

Agreed. And Steeler country. That must be tough :(

I think Thomas Hammock or Bobby Engram are our replacements. Please god no Juan Castillo. Don't make me blow all  my money on booze haha

It can be but then there are times - like this year's playoff game - when it is a lot of fun :P

I just can't think of anything the Ravens can do right now. There is literally no one left on the market. Not mad that he left, but PISSED OFF he waited so long to leave.

theyll have to, because if they dont, they wont win in the near future.

unless they can lure brady from NE, rodgers from GB, wilson from SF, stafford from DET, or, gasp, flacco from us, then they'll need to have a helluva bad season to get the qb they need, i dont see that coming to fruition before kubiak gets run out of denver

Absolutely!

The timing of Kyle Shanahan signing with Atlanta isn't coincidence. He was waiting on word about Kubiak, and consequently, word from the Ravens if they were interested in his services. Ravens said they weren't interested in Kyle, so Kyle signs with Atlanta. Why would the Ravens say that, because they already know their guy and he's already with the team.

John Harbaugh loves Juan Castillo and it would maintain continuity on the O. He has been a coordinator, albiet for the D in Philly. Juan Castillo is our next OC.

Aaron Wilson says Ravens have been planning for this for days- says Adam Gase and Greg Knapp are immediate options

Wasn't he horrible with Oakland?

What happened to Harbs was prepared? People calling inquiring about the position?

Right now all I see is everyone qualified is gone.

You can be as prepared as you want, but what can you do until after Kubiak says he is going or staying?   Like I said in another post, the amount of time between when they announced the position and when they interviewed him today screwed the Ravens if he accepted.  He did and in the interim, a lot of candidates decided to go elsewhere.  Not much you can do about that.

We can't switch systems again. Just cannot happen.

I like Gase. My only concern is his scheme and ours are different.

That's why I don't want him.  I want someone that's gonna let us KEEP our scheme.

Oakland was terrible...  Knapp... don't know much about him, but Gase is good...

I am not going to be that guy that insults Kubiak for accepting a head coaching position. I am also not going to be that guy that defends him because Kubiak along with his entire former staff strung us along delaying our search while coaches are being gobbled up. Kyle knows his system and DeCosta, OZ, and Harbs have the ability to bring in the right pieces. I hope we spank him in Denver next season just like the Texas did on his homecoming. The Texans said good riddance his system is too predictable and then shut him completely down when we faced off. I was a huge fan of Kubes but everything always seems to happen for a reason lets see what the Ravens do next before we panic.

There goes another one I just realized Kyle already is signing with Atlanta DOH! Great timing Kubes

I'm going out on a limb here, but Kapp has been an OC for the 49ers and Hou.  I think he runs ZBS/WCO scheme

Gase ran a West Coast before too.

Guys. I'm pretty sure that we are ok. Engram or Hammock is probably our guy. They had a year to learn our system. Just calm the hell down. I leave for 5 years or someting. Does this board always get hectic? If so, I might need better health insurance haha

Gase just interviewed for the Jags OC job. Might not be available.

Don't like any of these choices.

Castillo failed miserably as D coordinator in Philly. He is not coordinator material at all.

I said a while ago that Scott frost would be great, I stand by that. I like the dude a lot, and we could snag him easily I think.

How about Karl Dorrell? He was just Vanderbilt's OC/QB Coach. Prior to that, he was QB coach with the Texans (alongside Shanahan and Kubiak), and before that was UCLA's head coach
