Eh we need someone to replace Gorrer but I wouldn't count on him being even average, going to take time for him to get the system as well so we will see but we needed someone with Gorrer and Jacobs going down so glad we have someone

He's a brave soldier for accepting this daunting task.... May we never forgot the cornerbacks who have went before him.

Good luck, Cason. And God speed.

Haha

I don't think we had a lot of options at this point. At least he's an actual CB and not a converted something or other.

Wayne Brady voice "This Is Not An option!"

Who else is even available? Seriously? There was essentially no choice. I bet if Ozzie has a chance to pick up a Flowers type of player next year, he makes the move, especially at a position of need.

We should be thanking our lucky stars that a 28 year old former 1st round pick is not only available on the street this late in the season but also that he has been playing until very recently so he shouldn't be too rusty. It's a sad testament to the state of our CB corp but it's true.

Chykie Brown 2.0

You can't teach him anything that sticks w/ him.

Got any better ideas?

He's a vet. He might be slow, but with veteran experience he might be able to hold his own in off-man or zone. He's been around a while. He's seen a lot of offense.

Anyone know whether Cason is more of a press, off man, or zone corner? His size tells me he's a press man or bump and run guy, but Idk.

I never heard of this cat before...even when we played the Panthers earlier. I hope he helps out the secondary.

He was most well known as a Charger...

Double down on WR/CB FA/Draft?

Yup..already see that comming...ravens knows how to fill in a gap when they see one.

This time though, we need to restructure/cut few of these walrus sized contracts that will gobble us alive.

if suggs and doom were a bit younger than id be happy to focus purely on the secondary. I guess we can get another good year from those 2 and just focus on building a secondary and a Receiving Core through FA and draft

I really feel we should sign maxwell.

we def need a new SS unless we put will hill there and draft a free safety. ( the boy from loueville is very ed reedesque)

Not exactly thrilled, but I recognize that options are extremely limited at this point.

Lol . This guy could become the next Revis island , couldn't he !!?!?!!?

I'm more interested in what the Panthers fanbase has to say, and they seem unanimous in saying he's terrrr-ble... This comment made me laugh, but then I realized we don't have any DBs who can even do that, then I got sad...

"He'll probably pick a tipped pass and run it for four yards and people will blame Gettleman that we let such a talented player go"

You're right.....who cares... lets see if he sticks.   Ravens often get the better fortune of turning players for the better more often than not.

Wish Antoine luck...

I agree he likely won't be much to write home about, but we're not exactly in a position to play hardball for CBs.

He may not be good but would our front seven improve him? The pressure we get on the other QBs are ideal for any Corner/Safety. It means more time for the opposing QB to make a mistake and mistime the throw for them to make a play. Now I'm not saying that he's all of a sudden going to become a shut down corner but it's not like the Carolina front seven did their secondary any favors this season.

Just need any kind of depth at this point.

Good one!

Send in replacements! At least he is a 6 year vet. 2008-2011 SD, 2012 Arizona, 2013 Carolina.

"On March 21, 2014, Cason signed a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers for $795,000, with $65,000 guaranteed.[7][8] During his debut performance for the Panthers in a 20-14 victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cason recorded 9 tackles, 2 pass deflections, and an interception.[9] During the week 2 victory over the Detroit Lions, Cason recorded 10 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 fumble recovery.[10] In the Panthers week 5 victory over the Chicago Bears, Cason recorded 6 tackles, 1 pass deflection, and had pivotal forced fumble against Matt Forte in the fourth quarter that led to the game-winning touchdown.[11] Through five games with the Panthers, Cason had set a career high with 3 forced fumbles.[12]

Despite this early success, Cason began to struggle to produce later on in the season. In a week 9 loss to the New Orleans Saints, Cason was benched after he was called for a 32-yard pass interference penalty. In week 13, Cason was benched again after allowing a 17-yard touchdown pass to Greg Jennings of the Minnesota Vikings, which contributed to Carolina's 31-13 loss. Two days later, on December 2, he was waived from his contract. He had started 11 of 12 games during his season with Carolina.[8]"

If we can get half of this production and 100% of the effort from him these last 3 games, who would complain?

Never mind, we always find something to complain about.

In addition to my previous post I also believe that the pass rush may a good thing for Cason as well.  Anyway, he's probably the best available CB on the market with any type of experience.

Why am I super exited to see this dude play?!?!?!?
