Vent thread: Dolphins(first half) Talk about the Game (second half)

And Flacco needs to stop throwing the ball right onto the opponents hand.  That kind of sloppy play isnt going to fly on legitimate defense.  At least 4 throws were ON miami's hand.  All dropped by miami's D.

Flacco just had 3 games in a row with a QB rating over 100 and the game prior to that 3 game run was 95 QB rating. Get off it already. Offense is not the problem nor is Flacco this season.

I agree, it is ridiculous.

What also is ridiculous is that I even have to make a post to remind fans of who they should be praising.  Dean Pees gets hammered again, and again, and again, and again on these boards for literally every possible screw up, penalty, blown coverage, etc. made by the defense.

And yet, on a day where HIS defense (and yes, it is his defense) holds the opponent to 13 points and about 250 total yards on the road (3 points in the last three quarters), I barely see his name even remotely mentioned on any of the threads related to the game.

I, as a Ravens fan, sort of find that embarrassing to be honest. We all know its incredibly hypocritical, but that I've accepted, because that's just how things tend to go on here.

I'm used to it though... Juan Castillo gets no praise either, despite his unit probably being the best unit on this entire team.

Seriously stop trolling. Pees did what his critics have been clamoring for him to do all season and is, you know, his JOB. Funny how when all the critics asked for some of the very things he did this game we were all wrong and it couldn't be done and Pees hands were tied, it wasn't his fault. Now, lo and behold, it worked. Perhaps the critics are the ones who should be expecting an apology huh?

To add on to their points, that kind of "sloppy play" did fly on a legitimate defense....If you don't consider Miami one, I don't know what to tell ya.

Please enlighten me. What exactly did he do dififferent? I still saw the same zone coverage, off man, and four man rushes.

He did very little different... that's the entire point.

When the stats come out, we will probably undoubtedly see a lot of zone coverage, not a lot of blitz packages outside of some 5 man rushes, and practically very little change in scheme design.

I always visit the opponent's forums the day after; win, lose, or draw.   This disgusted me! As much as the Steelers fans hate the Ravens, I doubt even they'll say something like this guy did.

Yeah this always feels like a sure loss cause the Ravens have OWNED the **** out of the Dolphins and always beat them in critical games, so that sucks. I am hoping history changes today and the NEW Dolphins emerge.

**** Joe Flacco, hope his knee gets torn up today and career over!!! Time for him to retire, so lets hope the Dolphins put him there. Time to smash him and anyone else. Put them out of the game out for the season. Killer instinct.

Our own fans say similar things all the time.

Only difference is instead of cheering for an injury, we just want to fire our own people.

Calling for an injury? How dare anybody do that

Calling for literally dozens of people to be fired? Fair game.

Anybody sense a little hypocrisy there?

Pees still drops Dumervil into coverage and he proceeded to give up a huge 1st down which is unforgiveable - on Pees' part. He's done it a number of times and Elvis gets victimized. It's not his skillset and takes the best rusher in the league away from hunting the QB. Not the 'right' type of exotic...

The defense, for whatever reason, goes soft at times and the Dolphins were gashing us with the run. Lamar Miller looked like Barry Sanders.

For all that, Pees and the defense made their adjustments and dominated.

I blame much of the run-game struggles on defense to two factors...

1. Poor tackling... pretty consistent throughout the game.

2. Lamar Miller is excellent at changing direction. There weren't many "big" runs that I saw where the Dolphins actually opened an intended hole for him. I think our initial penetration was adequate... its just that Miller would cut back or change direction and our backside pursuit suffered and struggled for much of the day.

Many coaches and players continue to coach/play after getting fired.

Name one player that has come back from a career ending injury? I'll wait.

Big difference.

Seriously?

You don't see the difference between calling for someone to lose their job, and threatening serious bodily harm?

In the non-football world, only one of those is a crime.

Oh there was killer instinct alright. Flacco was in killer instinct mode after his stupid INT. I don't even want to talk about the Dolphins anymore because we won and I'm already looking at our next opponents.

Not really. The overwhelming majority of players who actually get "fired" are most of the time either way past their prime and very near retirement, or aren't very good and will struggle to find work in the league. If we cut a guy like Anthony Levine today... do you think there would be a long line for his services on the open market? Doubtful. There are literally players cut weekly in this league that never, ever play in this league again. I'd consider that "career ending".

Of course its mostly on the personnel... it always has been since the history of mankind. Fans blamed Dean Pees for Dumervil lining up offsides three times in one game... you can't even make this crap up.

Its just disturbing to me that so many fans pretend to be so cavalier and demanding of the employment status of coaches, and yet when those very same coaches do a great job, not a single word from those people. Juan Castillo is literally having a GREAT season as the offensive line coach with this team. He was literally burned at the stake in this town for months and months and months. I haven't heard an apology from anybody, no accountability, nothing.

You can't regulate who fans choose to praise or tear down in here.  That stuff is out of your control man!  Just do your own thing!  If you want to praise Pees...you do it!  If others in here choose to tear him down and call for him to be fired...that's their choice.  Either way, the FO doesn't do their job based upon what you or other fans in here say.  Forums give people-the fans, the outlet to express themselves and their feelings at the time whether it is rational or just wishful thinking.  Personally, I thought that Pees finally called a great defensive game with the lead.

We cut Chykie Brown like many on here asked for and he was picked up w/in hours.

At least the Steelers fans tend to behave themselves.

I found this one pretty funny. Nice to hear Joe being called one of the NFL's investments:

They sound like us.

Fine... one is criminal, the other is incredibly immoral, irresponsible, and idiotic.

Do I really need to provide a list of players who have been cut by other teams and NOT picked up by literally anybody in the league?

And that's before you get into things like FOs needing to get the most out of a limited roster, and the impact of a major injury after the player's career (constant pain, added medical bills).

do tell?

#1

3rd and 7 on 2nd qtr at endzone.  gets pressure, decides to throw to steve smith.  heavily underthrows and goes onto a r.j.standford.  miami doesnt capitalize on INT.

#2

1st and 10 on 2nd qtr.   he throws to wide open steve on midfield.  overthrows heavily, steve jumps as high as he could, gets tipped and safety #20 gets the hand on the ball, drops.

#3 and #4! (at one play, amazing skill right there and awareness...drool..*)

2nd and 10 on 3rd qtr.   throws on one on one covered aiken.  grimes gets a hand on the ball, tips off and then goes to another corner delmas, also tips and drops.   commentator states "wow that was dangerous, that was almost picked off twice.   one by grimes, second by delmas"

there you go!

Feel free.  Just make sure you include the list of those cut who are picked up and continue their careers.

Bottom line, wishing a player a career ending injury is no where near on the same level as wishing a guy gets cut.

For those wondering about the Dolphins passing defence:

*They're third in yards conceded per game (203), though that would usually be influenced by their getting ahead in games. For what it's worth, they're middle of the road in that area (34.5 attempts per game - good for 19th).

*They're 11th best in terms of opposing passer percentage allowed (61.7%). The Bengals are 7th and the Browns are first, for those wondering.

*They're 10th equal in touchdowns conceded (20). We're 15th with 21.

*And their pass rush is about the same - tied with the Chiefs for 10th at 34 sacks on the season. The freebie NFL.com stats don't have anything about hurries and hits, but I'm guessing it's in the ballpark of top 10/top 15.

So that's not an all-pro passing defence by any stretch, but they're certainly not scrubs. And Joe got it done away from home.

Not a vent or even a discussion but Yanda has been on fire this year...

Marshall Yanda, RG: +3.9

Breakdown: Another excellent display from Yanda, who now leads our guard rankings by a wide margin. Yanda has a green grade in every single game of 2014, and his +41.3 cumulative grade is nearly double that of Joel Bitonio (+22.6), our second-ranked guard.

Signature Stats: Yanda allowed a hit and a hurry in 35 snaps in pass protection, and earned a +2.8 grade as a run blocker. Yanda has yet to earn a negative run blocking grade this season.

Outstanding! I love reading stats like this. No wonder why Flacco and the offense has been running smoothly.

I think we all knew he was back in form for sure but to be THAT good is just great. No clue he was doing that well for himself this year but OG is one of those positions where you if you never hear anything, that is a good sign and Yanda has certainly been quiet

Exactly. And come to think that the offensive line was awful last year...

I'm glad Harbs mentioned Chris Canty in a presser today. I thought he had an outstanding game. You can't replace experience.

I remember a lot of people thinking he should be cut before the season. That would have been disastrous. He hasn't been amazing this year, but he has been solid. Considering the injuries and suspension thank goodness we still have him.
