Haloti Ngata suspended 4 games for PED's

Some of you are saying that adderall should not be banned. Well there are many reasons why it is in PED list. I don't think it's very healthy to use amphetamine during sports. It's a little bit different using it while reading a book than it is to have a high level aerobic/unaerobic performance. I'm not sure how does this kind of amphetamine differs from the ones that militaries use, but it's a little bit different thing too... Anyway if you need it do the paperwork ;)

"Amphetamine is used by some athletes for its psychological and performance-enhancing effects, such as increased stamina and alertness;[45][15] however, its use is prohibited at sporting events regulated by collegiate, national, and international anti-doping agencies.[46][47]In healthy people at oral therapeutic doses, amphetamine has been shown to increase physical strength, acceleration, stamina, and endurance, while reducing reaction time.[45][48][49]Amphetamine improves stamina, endurance, and reaction time primarily through reuptake inhibition and effluxion of dopamine in the central nervous system.[48][49][50] At therapeutic doses, the adverse effects of amphetamine do not impede athletic performance;[45][48][49] however, at much higher doses, amphetamine can induce effects that severely impair performance, such as rapid muscle breakdown and elevated body temperature.[9][10][48]" --Wiki

And because thereapeutic doses are usually too small to get the real performance-enhancing effects athletes would take them more. Which could lead to side-effects that can be dangerous even without an OD:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adderall#Overdose

There are a lot of side effects and players could have serious problems during the games, for example with their hearts.

I believe a lot of athletes in different sports are using PEDs. Most of the athletes are using PEDs during offseason to minimise the risk of getting caught. I also think there's enough money to make tests a lot more often but they just don't do it. PEDs are a taboo in sports and a big reason for this is that they don't want to have a negative image with a lot of PED-scandals that would happen if they would actually make a lot of PED-tests and try to actually get rid of PEDs in big/major/professional sports. I think it's really naive to think that there are just couple of athletes here and there who are doing/taking something that they should not to enhance their performance, especially at this level.

This popped in my mind during writing this text: I remember watching a document about olympic level athletes who were so dedicated to winning an olympic gold medal that one or couple of them said that they could take anything to get the gold medal and die the next day. That's sick but some people would do almost anything to get their name in history books...

How many times have we faced a bad oline and not have anything to show for it? MANY times. I like what Timmy brings to the team and hes SUPERIOR ( over Ngata)  as a pass rush presence and thats AS A ROOKIE. Point blank, hes more disruptive in the passing game. Will he be as good against the run? Who knows, but I like what hes doing!

The only bad o-line teams I can think that we faced was probably The Flacons, Buccs, and recently The Jags. Our pass rush show up for that.I don't know if Timmy is superior over Ngata because again he just had a great game against one of the worst offensive line in the league.

What makes anybody think Ngata wouldn't have done the same? or had more sacks.

That guy has never liked Haloti so I wouldn't waste the debate. The fact is that the run D has suffered with him out and as you say, as bad as the jags O line is who's to say he wouldn't have fared as well or even better.

I think Jernigan is a beast and will be a great player, but he's not yet even close to being up to par with Ngata.

That's where you're wrong... I'm a Ngata fan, but I don't think he's a major presence as far as pass rush is concerned . I never said Timmy was on Ngatas level overall, but if you just watch the ability to rush the passer, the explosiveness and the speed... Ngata can't match it .

Ngata has NEVER had more than 5.5 sacks in a season...and that was nearly 5 years ago.. Not that all dlineman are sack masters... The point is, he's faced PLENTY of horrible Olines and STILL hasn't been a consistent sack guy. I'm going by what he's done over his career, he's not known to sack QB's very regularly . Jernigan has 4 sacks in 10 games, and that's a limited role up until last week...

Ravens since Ngata has been suspended have also had Thier best games vs the run as well. Ngata carries a $8.5 million cap # if kept. They Probably extend him and Webb to create cap space next year...Then Ravens will be in good cap shape. Jacoby will will axed to save $ as well.

But why do we regulate what an entertainer needs to perform when it comes to football?

It's like the movie get him to the Greek. Just let em be so they can give their best performance.

Why treat athletes different than snoop dogg...or worse An Ozzie Osborne that did all sorts of drugs.

Why is pot illegal and alcohol isnt?

Just the rules. Although i agree with your mindset, if someone can perform at a high level using whatever they want, as long as its not PEDs in the sense we have learned about, im ok with it.

If ya don't get it, ya don't get it. What Haloti and Chris Davis did was STUPID! They are supposed to

be professionals. I didn't need to take PEDs to enhance my performance at work and neither should they.

Forrest Gump said it best, "Stupid is as stupid does." And that goes for Ray Rice as well. Professionalathletes have no business doing drugs, alcohol or tobacco, period, end of thread! Wake up; smell the

roses, people! Who is the coach here in charge of discipline? Whoever it is has failed miserably to do

his job properly! This team is very undisciplined. Remember, just like health care, there are two types of discipline --- preventative and remedial. Benching a player for one fumble is remedial. Teaching

him how to protect the football is better medicine. Putting him in one's doghouse for one fumble is

ridiculous. So, is that why Juszcyzk didn't see much action in the Houston game? I'm mystified!

Davis and Ngata are basically different cases though. Davis has an exemption to use Adderall... he just wasn't responsible enough to fill out the proper paperwork. He has been given permission to use it during the 2015 MLB season, and he will be doing that.

To my knowledge, Ngata doesn't have the same exemption.

The doghouse thing isn't really that big of a deal. There is no shortage of coaches who bench players for fumbling, particularly rookies. Belichick is famous for doing this. Teaching them how to carry the football is the easy part... its an enforcing the negative aspect of not doing it properly that is difficult, and frankly, sitting is the only punishment these guys can relate to.

It looks like we haven't seen Ngata's last game as a Raven just yet. His performance in the playoffs could definitely help determine whether or not he's back next year.

Hopefully he comes in motivated and fresh.  Could give us a decent spark if he can.

Especially helpful with Jernigan going down this game as well.  Not sure how serious or anything, though.

Haloti owes it to everyone to play out of his mind.

Don't know about him oweing anything but I catch your drift though!

What's the official word on Jernigan? I'm worried about his ankle. We're going to need him. Ngata better ready.

Someone was saying he came back late in the game. I hope that's true.

Kind of very excited about a fresh Ngata ... its something I don't think we've ever seen in the playoffs. I'd love to see him dominate a game.
