Week 14 Discussion (Other Teams)

I'm waiting for the score to be finally over until I see their forums. I've said many times here that my dad's a Niners fan. Right now, he's not even watching the game. In fact, he said that Kaepernick is one of the sorriest QBs to get paid. I just can't understand for the life of me how can their offense just struggle like this.

The running QB experiment is coming to a close.

If you don't also have the ability to pass the ball effectively, you're not going to last in the NFL.  We've seen it with RGIII, Kaepernick, Geno Smith, etc. etc.

I know - I'm trying not to think about it. I feel like a win there and we be sitting pretty on at least a WC and would have a great shot at taking the division. Oh well ... its spilled milk ... so no use in crying about it.

We would have had some real breathing room, especially if the Pats win tonight. The Chargers would pretty much be out of it.

Niners forums are gonna explode.

No doubt Jim is gone. No shot at the playoffs at 7-6.

We'll be rooting for them in week 16 (vs. SD) .. unfortunately, they will have likely thrown in the towel for the season.

I consider Russell Wilson to be the only "exception."

I think he uses the running game and passing game as extensions of each other (and having Lynch doesn't hurt) rather than being known as a dynamic runner.

Yeah, RGIII had a great season but got injured and has not been the same since. QB's won't hold up, look at Michael Vick. Defenses are way quicker now than in the days of Fran Tarkenton :)

That defense is never going to lay down though.

But even Tarkenton was not like those guys. Actually, if I were to compare a current day QB to Francis, it would be Wilson. Tarkenton was a master at extending plays and he didn't get tons of yards with his feet. The difference between guys like Vick/RGIII and Wilson/Tarkenton is that they aren't interested in using their feet to extend plays and throw downfield, they are interested in dazzling everyone with their speed and agility to run downfleld - and then get hammered.

Kaep, RGIII and Wilson all had great seasons their first year playing in the NFL.

Since then, the two who are not accurate passers have dropped of significantly.  Basically, after seeing enough games, NFL defenses were able to adapt and shut it down.

Yeah maybe I should have used Warren Moon as a better example, but I think defenses have speed over girth like back in the day, although I guess that the new QB's are more athletic also. It is only a matter of time before Johnny Football comes in and is the next scrambling QB to get killed, especially in the AFC North!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a great day with the win and teams we need to lose, losing. If the Pats win tonight to top it off, all I can say is what a difference a week makes!

No doubt - the speed and size of defenders in today's game is ridiculous. There is no question as to why injuries are so prevalent. The increase in the ability of athletes to apply hits of force is greater than the increase in the ability for athletes to absorb them.

Would we take the sd's wc spot if they lose tonight?

I believe Pitt would move ahead of them, but they'd surely stay ahead of us.

No but we would have the same record and they face Denver, San Francisco, and Kansas City. That is a tough schedule.

Yes, at least 2/3 of the schedule.
