Wow this game seems to be shifting in the Pats favor right now. The Chargers may be in trouble if they get stuffed here, because the Pats are a good second half team.

No, they use the kicker. If the Punter goes down, he becomes the kicker.

You only get 53 spots on the roster - same reason we had Haloti taking long snaps once Cox went down. It's not worth taking up a spot for something that's almost certainly not going to be used in the middle of a game.

Because there are only 53 spots on an NFL Roster and backup Punter is a position that is viewed as not being valuable enough to warrant one of those spots.

Watching the Pats struggle in the redzone against this Chargers team makes the Ravens struggles last week not seem that bad

That turned out to be a big punt. The Chargers better hope they do not go three and out, because with Novak punting field position is going to be an issue for them.

I called that..........3 and out and a weak punt............Pats at midfield. If it was not for the two turnovers causing a 10 point swing, the Chargers would be in big trouble.

They have a top 10 defense. Our offense did well to put up 33. Makes the defensive meltdown that much more infuriating.

Such a soft, soft game the NFL is showcasing these days. Just sad, really.

Calls like this should be up for review.  It happens entirely too fast to make that call w/out second guessing.
