While that's true, all of the SS suck.

I don't think stashing Melvin on the PS is an issue, because I don't expect him to get picked up by somebody else if he's there.

And lets face it... you're an injury at the safety position away from seeing Stewart playing meaningful snaps.

Can we even put Melvin on the PS? We took him off somebody else's PS (Miami?). Are we allowed to keep him inactive for 3 or 4 weeks and then put him on OUR PS? That just doesn't seem right.

Almost every highlight of him is from the Safety position. He makes plays running towards the ball.... Pees is having him chase people around leaving him out of position. Use him properly and maybe we get something out of him.. not looking good so far though.

He was even worse as a safety because he can't cover on the back end. He has terrible range and instincts and can't tackle. He has far more MT than highlight plays.

I was referring to the OP's highlight clips lol. Maybe Elam can be converted to a different position. 4th string RB? LOL

I don't know what to do with him at this point, maybe waterboy?

It's tough.  You don't want to give up on a 1st round pick so soon but I've seen no improvement and nothing to really be excited about, honestly.

I'd honestly cut our losses and take a 4th or 5th round pick for him at this point. Keep Jimmy, Hill, Brooks, Levine, and draft two corners.

The Elam/Brown draft will hurt this franchise for years to come.

no it wont. first of all, i am with the crowd that thinks brown is inactive simply because there is no need for it, he wont take mosleys spot, and daryl smith is having a hell of a season and is under a fat contract so he wont take his spot either, it is simply a wasted spot on a 53 man roster, and i think we are saving him for year 3 where he splits time with daryl smith. brown is staying healthy as an ox, learning, and bulking up which is something that he really needed, he appeared to be much larger in preseason and was looking like a stud out there, he will get his chance.

elam though, it was a 32nd overall pick and it is easy to whiff in such a late first round slot, the first round players are lumped in with the early 2nd round players and it is all about the board, i have defended elam avidly but i am just done with him, im still holding out hope for year which is when young players usually make the transition, but i have seen nothing to stay hopeful about, oh well, he was practically a 2nd rounder, counting out elam, the past 2 drafts seem to have our FO's drafting ability on the upswing, another good draft and suddenly nobody will be doubting ozzie anymore

We got three starters in that draft who are all playing extremely well - Brandon Williams, Juice, and Ricky Wagner. If the only pick we whiffed on was Elam  - I'm OK with that.

That was a weak draft overall and we were picking last, so 3 good starters is pretty awesome. John Simon isn't bad either, he was just unlucky to play stacked position. Jury is still out on A. Brown, Jensen and KLM and Mellette and that Jenifer Lopez CB were not really huge misses. So, it still might turn out that Elam was the only bad pick in 2013.

I just wish we made better selections in first two rounds.

The Bucs received a fourth and a sixth round pick in exchange for Mark Barron. Both he and Elam were first round picks with Elam being two years younger in age. I think we could at least get a 5th from a needy team based on potential.

Mark Barron hasn't been great, but he's been much better than Elam.

Well if you're saying we cant get any pick value above the 6th round for him then I'd guess we'll keep him and pray to lucifer that he gets better.

He was a late bloomer at Florida especially for being such a highly recruited player coming out of High School. We'll see what happens next season, but these articles on this website about him in the offseason need to stop. I remember reading so much about him and how well he was progressing but I don't see it on the field. It's like there giving fans false hope not fair to us. Oh yeah especially that article about him taking a job at Finish Line. Maybe if he spent more time on his real job he might be successful.

Exactly - I remember thinking about that and the fact he didn't want an agent. It's like he himself does not think he has what it takes for the NFL.

Madden franchise game mode

lol I always trade down and rack up 3-4 first round picks the following season. Only if it worked like this in real life. Haha

i wonder if we could dedicate an entire draft to trading back and getting like 20 picks the following year.. 2 first rounders and 3 2nd rounders or something crazy like that?

super weird you said that. i litreally 1 second ago just got done looking at his IG and was about to say that... for a guy who has a lot of followers who are young teens that look at him as a role model ... kinda paints a bad picture.

I'm questioning the UF english skills staff a little bit.

He's not the first successful player who didn't have an agent, and he won't be the last.

Frankly, I'm not really sure why rookies even bother getting agents anymore, although I suspect the "newness" of the process is the only reason.

You're right but it bothered me at the time that there was so much talk about that and not enough about football. Sure seems like he could concentrate more on his game than everything else in his first two off seasons.

Yeah, but that should have no impact. Once he signed the deal, that's it. Its not like he has to worry about his contract right now, because he gets slotted in to a nearly identical contract is the other first rounders before him since the new rookie wage system.

That was his first off season. After the rookie year, he has found something else - part time work at sport gear retail shop. Wonder what he has planned for next off season.

The only reason Elam is on the team still is because he was a first round pick. He's one of the worst DBs in the NFL.

Biggest draft busts in Ravens history :

1) Boller

2) Elam

3) Taylor

Maybe add in Clayton

Barron has shown some flashes of good play.
