Brandon williams for all his strength doesn't push the pocket enough. 1 sack for the whole year is rather depressing.

He pushes the pocket fine. Destroys pretty much most of his one on one matchups

This is surely a game we can use Talifero in. Ivory was brushing the Dolphins d-line, but When they subbed in CJ2YPC he couldn't take advantage. Now with forsett we should have an advantage in the run game. But if we can use Talifero to hit them downhill even more, we should be in good shape.

With Asa back I wonder where they'll line him up? I would actually like to see more of Terrance Brooks this game, but I'm sure he's in the doghouse for not making that pick in the Saints game. But I'd like to see if Brooks can cover better then Elam, and obviously he's going to have to shift between slot corner and SS which I think he did in college. Stewart needs to be benched.

Stewart's been benched, for Jeromy Miles.

And CJ2K ran for 105 yds against Miami Mon. night, including a 47 yarder, averaging 6.2 YPC. As a #2 back, I'd call that taking advantage.

Why you're expecting a NT that mostly plays on running downs to get a ton of sacks is beyond me.  His main

job is to consume blocks and collapse the pocket!  Which he does a fine job doing!

Still debating if I should go to this game. I went when the Dolphins won their only game and went 1-15 lol talk about embarrassing. .

I was about to drive from West Palm to Jax for 11 MNF. Luckily decided to stay at home last minute.

I don't always check all the numbers before the snap. I try but I usually just review the formation and check the coverage if I can unless I'm looking for someone specific. So I'm asking to see if anyone has noticed this as well or if someone can confirm or deny my belief.

I don't think I see Brandon Williams playing a lot when we are on third down, which is typically when you rush the passer. If that's an accurate assessment, then maybe Williams just comes out to give him rest and keep him going. I also think I recall seeing McPhee playing that inside rusher more on third down, with others rotating in there like Canty and Jernigan. I'm mainly talking third down here.

really …we have lost our mystique.

bring back rex and dedicate the offseason to the secondary and hope some players might take pay cuts/ extensions

Their rivalry is pretty tight. Definitely a back and forth. The first time they faced each other, JJ owned Yanda. The second time, Yanda owned JJ. This is one of the great player rivalries in the NFL, and it's a shame it goes unnoticed due to them being in the trenches. It's just like Yanda and Atkins. Fun match up to watch.

Most likely going to go. It's crazy how well the fans travel. I was at the Bucs game and their fans were shocked at many Ravens jerseys there were. It felt like we outnumbered them.

And every time we made a big play in that game, I heard a LOT of cheers. That was awesome to watch.

Agreed completely.

Also I hate to say this, and I hope I'm wrong. But I expect to see bad Joe Flacco next week and the boards going crazy.

Flacco wont throw it a lot because we'll run it all day

If you are basing your assumption on the play of Gino Smith on MNF, fogeddabout it. The Jets ran the

ball all night because Smith is terrible. We will run the ball a lot, especially if two of our top

three receivers are unable to play. However, Joe will still air the ball out if his receivers show up

to play. It could be another long day for Steve Smith, Sr. against Courtland Finegan. We better hope

Torrey, Marlon and Michael Campanero are healthy enough to go.

Is Monroe going to be able to do his job?

Feel like he is the weak link to the Oline.  As odd as that sounds being the highest paid lineman, the rest of the guys are performing a lot higher than he is.

He's also typically blocking the best players, also.

Is he though? Is he really blocking them? Hard to believe there were people on this forum that were ranking him amongst the best players on our team (I saw as high as #2 in one thread). He has not lived up this year for sure. This is like KO or Rice last year, meaning I'm not sure he's healthy, but he's out there which means he needs to do better.

Well, yes, he is. Flacco is one of the least sacked players in the league, and generally speaking, the entire line, including Monroe, has given him ample time to throw in most games.

What exactly has he had to "live up to"? He's playing probably precisely like what he gets paid for... he's not overly expensive for what LTs cost in this league, and he's an upgrade over our LT situation for the past few years.

He's doing fine most games. Then there are the games he just doesn't show up. I just expected more from him. I'm not the only one, but sure he's much better than Oher or McKinnie (minus a good stretch or two from Bryant).

And I would say that's true for probably 95% of the LTs in this league.

I've been saying since he got here... one of the biggest benefits of being Elvis Dumervil is that he gets to rush the right tackle, because Suggs rushes the LT. On most teams, or at least teams that plan accordingly, their LT is the better pass blocking tackle, even though a lot of teams it seems like the RT is.

Or, think of it this way... switch Wagner and Monroe and see what happens. Wagner would probably struggle (even if you gave him time to adjust), and Monroe would play a lot better.

The idea, at least in my mind, wasn't that we traded for Monroe because he's the next Ogden or even a Joe Thomas, because that's unrealistic. He's an upgrade. That's what we traded for.

I'm realizing that's all we traded for now. I was hoping for a lot more, especially after all the hype a lot of people I listen to around the league, and especially the Ravens people, gave him when he came here, which continued through the offseason even after he was merely an "upgrade" last season. Zuttah was only ever plugged as an upgrade, so his up and down play hasn't bothered me as much. Also, Wagner is a much better run blocker than Monroe, which isn't even debatable, so there wouldn't be some magic amazing upgrade at RT if Monroe shifted over there. I'm not sure he or anyone else would be able to really do a better job than Wagner has done at that spot. It's not just because he faces the second best edge rusher that he's doing well. He's actually a really good player, so I'm not going to assume he'd have a ton of struggles moving to LT. Monroe has been fine, but he's been the fifth best O-lineman on our team this year, and I was hoping for more.

1. I think Monroe has actually been better in pass protection than Zuttah, but thats probably debatable.

2. Keep in mind... Monroe was basically like the 10th best LT in PFF grades before we traded for him. Needless to say, if he was like a top five LT, the Jags probably don't trade him, especially when they knew they were about to get a "franchise" QB.

3. No question that Wagner is a better run blocker, but fans tend to only care about what LTs do when it comes to pass protection. My point was that if you switched Wagner to the left side, I guarantee he would do much worse in pass protection.

4. The entire offensive line is upgraded, and that's all that matters. I told people last year that we didn't need the best center in the league, especially when fans wanted to mortgage the farm to get Alex Mack, which was a pipedream in it of itself. We just needed to upgrade at the position, and that's what Zuttah has done. He's realistically probably just an average center in this league, particularly in pass blocking, but that's more than sufficient. But to put it simply... if either Zuttah or Monroe played exactly how they are playing this season on last years offensive line, they'd probably be the best lineman on the team.

Monroe's perceived "struggles" are probably amplified by the fact that we've probably got the best tandem of guards in the league and because Wagner is a road grader in run blocking.

Now we get to see the beast Brandon Williams is and more of Timmy Jernigan. We'll surprise the Dolphins. Williams pushes the pocket back. McPhee needs to step it up in Ngata's absence

I really think Monroe's struggles are related to his knee. I really don't think it's health and I think he's playing through it. He's not playing anywhere close to the player he was last year or even with the Jacksonville. I don't believe he lost it all after getting paid. He doesn't seem like that guy.

If we win, all this junk issues just melts away. This game isn't just a playoff game for us, its a redemption.

If we don't show up here, in this game, I'm not going to watch ravens for rest of the season.

The ray rice issue, with Webb(good as gone)/jimmy, and ngata essentially wiped off for rest of the season, it is almost nearly over for us.

Being a ravens though, oddest thing happens all the time. Its NOW or never. Just WIN!
