You know if Aiken gets out of bounds , we were in long field goal position right with a couple of seconds ??

Aiken had to go to the ground to make the catch and was tackled/touched in bounds.  Burning a timeout on the attempted fake FG on the previous drive killed an opportunity for a long FG.

Something that will go overlooked in this game is that 3rd and 4 play. Where SD lined up showing blitz. Flacco does play-action.

If we run the ball there we go to the 2 minute warning regardless if we get a first down. Then we kick a FG following 2 minute warning. Then a KO as well SD might get the ball back with 1:55 seconds. Rather than 2:30 seconds.

That play really bothers me.

The key there is too keep the clock running by any means. So if you do call a play. It should A. Be a run. Or B. Be a playaction rollout where unless there's a 100% chance pass..flacco can run with it or slide In bounds. Hell even take a sack.

But because of that we gave them in essence 2 timeouts and 40secs.

Pees is.one of harbaughs buddy so of course we kept him instead of austin. Pees is cam cameron of the defense

It took Steve stepping in to get rid of Cam, now Steve needs to step back in and get rid of Pees.

Joe has won us games down to bare minute this season and last season.  Have you forgot the Vikings game?  Have you forgot this year's Browns game? Hell, look at the end of the 2nd Bengals game AND the Colts game.  Pretty sure Joe threw the balls, but the WR couldn't hold on.  Your point is mute

Actually, he came within a couple of feet of giving Tuck a try today. Damn, Aiken just couldn't get out of bounds.

lol, romo.  #1 choke QB OAT.

Let's think about this for a second. During the last drive (actually most of the game also), we noticed all DB's were playing back, almost prevent, zone. This tells me only one thing. Not that Pees is an idiot. He's actually smart enough to know that his own corners and safeties can't play a lick on the line of scrimmage. They don't have the talent to press and keep up with WR's that can burn past them with speed and good route running.

Which leads me to this....

Pees should've still put those DB's at the line. If they get burned for a TD, there'd still be more than a minute (or two) left in Flacco's hands to come back with a FG at the least.

This was my problem. I knew they were gonna score. I just questioned how much time would be left when it happened. After getting to the 40 I would probably have begun just all put blitzing and hoping for the best or a quick score. If people are mad about that I can understand.

Haha - you are right, but my only thought is for depth.  We have zero depth at corner right now.

Is it better to have garbage packed three or four feet deep?

Andy Reid never won a super bowl so the only way he ever gets better is when he has a ring.

harb had great leaders on the team if you are honest what has he done since, tell me in what way are we outsanding

11-0? dating back to when? We've lost to the Chargers and Seahawks in Harbaughs era.

Since 2000.

At home only, not overall.

Doom just needs to chill with the off sides, that can be fixed over night. He is NOT the problem...

Reading some of these comments you would never know.  Scroll up and read how some are asking for him to be cut.  SMH!

If we draft well on defense, don't lose too many people in the offseason and manage to hold onto Kubiak before he's offered a head coaching job somewhere else, I think we'll be set for next year.

With this secondary, even if we make it to the playoffs we're not going to go anywhere.  We've had one of the easiest schedules in the league, but our defense simply isn't up to the job.

Hire Wade Phillips or Rex Ryan in the offseason to shore up our defense and give it some swagger back.

I vote this thread for President.

Definitely not our year with this atrocious secondary. And if Kubes stays, this O can only get better.

Because, if the Chargers had matched us with a FG to send us to overtime... the majority of the folks here would be screaming "Why didn't we score that FG earlier instead of being overly aggressive".

Your answer to his statement is partially true, since you missed what he's saying. He's saying on that 3rd and 4 why didn't we run rather than that pass that became a throw away. Then a FG followed. Chargers get ball have 2 FGs then the 2 minute warning ( basically a timeout given to them by us ). If we run on that third down chargers don't have any timeouts we go to 2 minute warning.

Comeback kick that same FG go up by 6 again only with clock under 2 minutes rather than 2:30 left.

Could the same outcome occur possibly but they wouldn't have that extra 30 seconds and time out following 2 min warning.

PI calls need to be reviewable. Too much hangs in the balance of end zone PI calls. Floyd grabbing on Levines neck and the refs getting it wrong, that cost us. Two Bad ball spots on end zone PI calls was completely inexcusable of a team of refs trusted to call a fair game

Can JJ Watt cover? At this point Ngata is our best CB

oh man..JJ watt can do it all

and I'm not kidding there. Interceptions FF touchdowns

he could play everything but DT/NT

and even then i wonder

They need to be reviewed by an extra orafice because any refs with any 'ulterior motives' can still call whatever they want.

Actually Harbaugh mention that Austin was his buddy to but Harbaugh honestly didn't have any reason to fired Pees as well. Our defense wasn't terrible last year at all .

We have no NO.2 CB's. All of the current one's are 5th and practice squad options...like Ozzie said you can never have too many CB's in today's NFL

When Flowers was a  free agent we still had Jimmy Smith and Ladarius Webb. Overall you would be asking Flowers to be  a number 3 cornerback and The Ravens were report to have interest in Flowers but obviously he felt like The Chargers was a better fit for him for good reasons.

I don't understand Harbs mentality. We can't take the [profanity deleted] way at home and expect a different result. When its 4th down you go for that touchdown to go back up ten. If you dont get the first or a touchdown, you give them the ball inside the ten and make them work to get into fieldgoal range. I would take a OT chance to win over getting that fieldgoal which only put us up six....it did nothing for us but prevent a tie. Why? You enforce your will at home, or leave with a loss, which we did. Period!

I've seen a lot of misguided blame going around. Sure there were a few bad calls (and against both teams to be fair), but I don't see how anyone can pin the game's outcome on anything else except for the defense. They were the ones who took it and screwed it up; all they needed to do was potentially force one more stop; all they did was get one punt all day. We need REAL corners next year if we want to make a run.

You had this game. Defense just had to hold them and you  let them get the short passes and the game.  Defense needs to rethink the against the pass. Just forfeit the rest of the season and start fresh next year.

The loss of Jimmy Smith put them under the top.

I think had Asa Jackson stayed healthy, the Ravens might have been able to still win without Jimmy Smith. But two of the top three going down and the backups sucking was just too much.

Now people hating on Doom, wanting to release him.... Lol ok

I only say that because the money can be used to extend Upshaw and keep him here in the long term. Doom is a short term option, Upshaw is a long term option. Plus we can extend him before he has a big breakout year and gets signed by some other team.

The things they can work on for next week to get better. 1. Play with URGENCY!!! 2. Dont settle for FG's and get S.Smith SR involved in the game 3.  Win in the trenches both offensivly and defensivly. 4. TAKE CARE OF BUSINES ON THE FIELD and know that you control  your own destiny and the playoff picture (we as fans should not have to root for any other team...) Get some corners that can play!!!
