No adjustments from Pees. Rivers with the same quick passes over and over yet we allow a clean release to all their wr's. Press them at the line, throw off the timing of the routes, that was a disgusting defensive display after the offense dominated all game. Elam is terrible, pass rush was non existent, Gates ran the same underneath route about 8 times and we couldn't hone in on it.

 

Snatching defeat from the clutches of victory, that is just disgusting.. I knew the game was over the second we kicked the FG to go up 6 smh

O and the offense played good football, more field goals then we would like but it's still points on the board. 33 points and kept Flacco up right. WE REALLY NEED TO MAKE THOSE CATCHES THOUGH, but our guys made some tough catches too so pick your poison.

But the blame ultimately still lies on the defense. When you're up 10 with 6 minutes to go you need to close. As soon as we didn't get a TD on our last series I knew the game was over.

Lets see. The game plan seems to be get up by one score, then play prevent on D. If we survive the first half, then we go right back to it in the second half. One the rare occasion that we blitz -which oddly, often leads to success- we immediately abandon that to rush four and play zone.

 

All I want for Christmas is Rex Ryan back in Baltimore as Defensive Coordinator.

our o was awesome. our D lost uis this game 33 points and you allow 34. why do we play 15 yards off the recievers when we need a stop!!!???

because our secondary is bottom 5. We actually had decent corners last year and a bad o-line. Now we have a good o-line and bad corners. Ozzie didn't finish the job this offseason. Expect him to do so this offseason and then some. I didn't expect us to be world-beaters anyway, at least not unitl we could string three good drafts. i will tolerate mediocrity until next season. Greatness takes time.

We had to play off this game, they lack deep threats but I corners don't play the ball very well. The call Levine got flagged for would have been an int for a better corner. Whenever we played them straight up they would just throw a lob. 

 

Pees couldn't have done anything right this game, not saying that he's without fault but really, nothing was working. Blitz and get in the backfield but their receivers would just sauce our corners.

i did too. i just knew we would fail miserably on defense right there

This defense is just straight trash - and nobody can blame this phantom "well the offense tired them out".  We've faced elite passers 5 times - Andrew Luck, Drew Brees, Roethlisberger twice, and now Rivers.  In those games we're 2-3, and have given up 27+ points in 3 of those games.

Dumervil caught for the same infringement 3 times. Elam twice.

 

Drops by Smiths, Aiken did not help.

 

We still win this if not for that awful PI on Levine. This is not the first time refs did us.

Ozzie could have drafted/signed a somewhat decent CB. Hard for Pees to win with Webb, Levine, Gorrer, Elam and Hill(only good one) as your secondary. Everyone foresaw secondary being a huge issue in the offseason yet for some reason we decided not to address it.
