If the Ravens make the playoffs, name a breakout postseason player

86 posts in this topic

On offense, I'm gonna say the O-Line. They're not gonna go far at all in the playoffs if the line plays like trash. As far as those saying Campanaro I don't see him getting many reps during the playoffs. The Ravens are gonna go with experience when the chips are on the line.

Def...I'm gonna say Will Hill. The youno man has a lot to prove and owes the organization for taking a chance on him.

we dont have much experience to field at WR. marlon brown has as much playoff experience as campanaro, and jacoby certainly hasnt shown to be good enough to deserve a number of reps. so after steve and torrey i think campanaro is pretty much our best option at WR3

Will Hill.

I agree with this. I think the Ravens have found a viable solution for big athletic TEs. Gronk, Thomas, Fleener, Gates and the entire KC offense goes through their TEs so being able to matchup well with those offenses mean you have to limit the impact of their TEs. I though Hill did a heck of a job against  Jimmy Graham.

Also Ravens going deep into the playoffs this year means Justin Forsett will become a household name rather then the journeyman status he now has. As good as our running back over the past few years, they really haven't come up back in the postseason numbers wise. I mean there has always been the big play or two Rice or Mcgahee would make but it hasn't been a position we could rely heavily on outside of that Patriots games in 09'. Because Kubes is so committed to the running game, even if Flacco improves upon his already great playoff performances, Forsett will still play a big role in the offense. If the Ravens can continue to throw the ball early to get leads and run the ball late they'll be hard to beat and Forsett's numbers will be really strong in the playoffs.

graham and brees is a much more explosive tandem than any of those guys, luck and fleener is really on the upswing but not there yet, but i dont care how bad the saints have been this year, i dont see any combo better than them, aside from brady to gronk. if will hill can shut down graham the way he did, then those TE based offfenses need to be worried, lets just hope hill can keep that up, because he was stellar monday night

I would give the slight edge to Aiken over Campanaro.

worth making an argument for, ive liked what little ive seen of aiken, wouldve liked for him to hold onto that TD in cinci tho.

i like campanaros ability to be a safe option though, he is very good at getting open

after this chargers game today, FEEL FREE TO LOCK THIS THREAD! theres no point, this secondary is a joke and will drag us further and further from the playoffs with each snap

Will Hill. If he had been used to take gates out of the game like he did graham San Diego is never in that game. The most baffling game plan I have seen in a long time. If he can take Gronkowski out of a game this team could once again be a Patriot killer.

True, and frankly the thread began writing itself after back-to-back loses against Cincy and Pitt in weeks 8 & 9.

However, full disclosure - I would NEVER have predicted we crap the bed like we did against SD at home, especially when SD was shut out by the Dolphins, barely beat the Raiders by 7, and the Rams by 3.

If we make playoffs, which I don't think we will nor deserve to, my magic ball tells me our MVPs will be....

Offense: Lorenzo Taliaferro-Becomes our short yardage/goal line bulldozer.

Defense: Will Hill-Makes a few more good plays in coverage and earns himself a 3 year deal from us this offseason.

I'd like to see these two breakout too. But I had to comment about your comment about them not deserving to make the playoffs. Trust me I feel you BUT in 2012 they dropped the last 4 of 5 games barely stumbling into the playoffs with a 10-6 record. I'm sure there were many fans saying they don't deserve to make the playoffs then and we all know what happened... "I got...2 tickets to paradise!"... just saying...

"Danny Gorrer and Anthony Levine shut down Manning and Brady to put Ravens in SB!"

I can see it now.

Well after what happened yesterday that's literally the only way we'll see either of them anytime soon. How bizarre.

my mind just exploded...

thats shocking though in all realness, i thought he only had 1 season of playoff success. i certainly remember that absolute bomb he put on display vs the cardinals back in 08, what'd he throw 4 picks and no td's?

2009 - "Jake Delhomme has a 5-2 playoff record and a better passer rating than any QB left in postseason play." This was before the last Joe Flacco playoff run. There QBR's in playoff history are nearly identical (Joe has the edge).

Ice up son.

This could be a great thing for us if we get to the playoffs this year. The Delhomme/Flacco comparison is a one of the narratives (as it relates to 3S) that commentators will eat-up. Remember: You heard it here first.

Dunno if I like Joe being compared to Jake Delhomme. Personally I preferred the Joe Montana talk.

I'm with you on that. Joe Sky over Joe Del anyday, but I've got to respect the stats. Personally, if that means it gives our Joe and Smith Sr. a 'playoff mental edge' just knowing that...let roll.

Remember: Smith Sr. said that Delhomme was his favorite QB before he got here. He knows the history (he lived it). The guy was super efficient in the playoffs. He out shined 'the greatest show on turf' on their turf.

I just would love to see Steve add our Joe to his favorite QB interview after the playoffs this year. That would mean that the Ravens, Smith Sr and Flacco kicked some serious playoff butt together. That's all I want for Christmas.

Classic. Great post. +1

But I still believe: This and every game for the rest of the season is a PLAYOFF GAME. Enough said.

GO Ravens!

If we go somewhere in the playoffs, we'll have to face the Broncos or Pats who have pretty good DBs. I think Marlon Brown would be a big difference maker on offense. And of course Steve Smith will go Anquan/Jacoby mode for a few plays each game.

On defense, I can't see anyone suddenly turning the switch on, but I'm gonna assume our ILB duo plays very well. Daryl Smith has gotten better as the season's gone on.
