Looking For A Punt/kickoff Returner

14 posts in this topic

Jeremy Gilchrist, I've seen this guy play and when he touches the ball magic happens. One time he ran two back in one game. This is the same college that produced Jerome Mathis, Hampton University. Due to injuries and off field distractions Jerome fell out hard.

I'm not sure his draft status but I think he could go both days undrafted because he is flying under the radar. What are you guys solution.

personally i think we have a damn fine punt returner in leonard. but we should bring in someone to challenge figures for the KR spot. this offseason we should draft someone late and have a competition between figures cory ross and whoever else

I think we need to give Yamon Figurs next year to prove that he's still got it. Prove that this year was just his sophmore slump. But we should draft a burner in the last couple of rounds just incase he can't prove it.

true. they need to have figures run the gauntlet a bunch. he just looks too spooked out there which i think contributes to his ball handling issues

If we can draft Maclin late in the 1st then we have solved our KOR and 3rd WR slot with 1 player. Lets hope he is there...

I honestly think we have both the punt and kick returner jobs locked up for years. Leonhard is a solid punt returner and Zibikowski returned punts very well during his career at ND. He also looked pretty good returning kicks against Jax last week. Ray Rice did a good job returning kicks earlier in the season too.

Ok guys, I think we have our return game good too, but this is just a thought. But if the Chargers don't re-sign Darren Sproles, I think we should pick him up. Ok I know we don't need another RB, but I'm talking about bringing in Sproles for ST purposes only, and we could put him in on the offense on some plays. But I think it makes sense, he is a great KR and he would add a mixture to our already crowded KR players. Plus with Cam being our OC, Cam knows him from SD and I'm sure Cam would add him in on some plays on offense. What you think, should we go after Darren Sproles?

I think he's gonna command too much money in the FA if he makes it that far. Some teams are going to be willing to give him starting running back money, and we're not gonna be able to do that and re-sign our key players. I'd love him here but, especially with his playoff performace, he's out of our league.

If he declares, he won't be around that late in the draft.

Yo Figurs returned a KR and PR for TDs his rookie year. He returned plenty in college and is one of the fastest guys in the entire NFL. He used to called "The Playmaker" and Cam needs to use him like Sproles, Hester, or Cribbs. If he fins open field he's gone! He was great in the pre-season. I think if he doesn't run in a straight line and gets to the sideline he might take one the distance.

Figurs is a great return man. If we do look for one in the draft though, Brandon Tate from UNC would be the guy I would take. He is great talent and special player.
