Yeah, seriously. I'm glad he got it and he knew it, too. Lol. He pointed up when he got it and did a quiet celebration. It was nice to see.

Can we start calling him a future HOFer or is it too soon?

He's a borderline HOFer. I could see him get in and I could see him get left out. Apparently, the 100 sack mark is not a guarantee to make the HOF: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_National_Football_League_players_with_100_career_sacks

Shocking to me is that Kevin Greene, third all time in sacks with 160, was a finalist three times and didn't make it in.

The thing about Greene is that if he didn't get a sack he basically didn't affect the play.  He was just very good at that one thing.  Suggs needs a couple more years, I think if he gets something like 120 while playing a lot of snaps he can get in.

Ah, okay. Makes sense. Greene was a bit before my time, so I'm going off his reputation a bit here.

Agreed on Suggs. I think he needs 120 and a Pro Bowl or two more.

I mean, if I had a vote I'd vote for him.  I don't want to diminish the fact that towards the end of his career he was still getting 15 sacks a season.  The big knock on him was his run defense was only ok.

I think the HOF test is to ask this question: Which of this player's peers (in the same HOF class) were better than him? Would you take any of those peers over him? Also, who would be remembered 10 years later?

For example: Say Suggs and James Harrison retire the same year. Who would you take? Obviously, this is extremely subjective and several variables are involved, but I think that it's the best way to decide HOFers. It should be the best player at that position from that class.

I know who Greene was and I never got to see him play. That says something about him as a player. I think that's a good test of HOF status.

Can you say: HoF? all those pro bowls, all pros, 100 sacks, dominate run defender 9so not one dimensional) and the biggest thing that will set him over the edge: both a SB win and a DPOY award. My verdict: Suggs was one of the first dual 4-3 DE/3-4 OLB types. He basically helped continued the passrusher for the days of LT and Derrick Thomas to a next gen, a player versatile enough to stick his hand in the dirt or drop back in coverage.

Greene is viewed a that he could only really pass rush and that's his hugest knock.

Suggs hands down.  Did it for far longer than Harrison did.  Harrison had a nasty 5 years but Suggs has been doing this since he was 20 with 2 off years (one when he was fat and 2007 when the entire defense were duds due to injury basically).

Harrison is not a HOF'er, he likely would have been if he wasn't such a boob in his early years and bouncing around so much.  Suggs will be compared to guys like DeMarcus Ware for generation purposes.

Ok lets admit, that was the most anti-climatic sack that you could ever imagine for the 100th of Suggs career.

Congrats Suggs!

Absolutely.

I was hoping he would blow up Ben for 100 but no.

101 will be more impressive right?

The difference between Suggs and alot of guys with 100 sacks is that Suggs is a better run stopper than he is pass rusher.  One of the most complete edge players ever along with a impressive resume ( SB, DPOY , DROY , All-pros)

2 more years at a high level and I think he's HoF.

LOL, yes because he know he kind of got that one with a whimper. Him and two other Ravens dived on Brees simultaneously. I'm thrilled he got it too, but it was in underwhelming fashion. His next full sack will be more celebratory I bet!

I was just saying this down there this weekend. His resume is very nice and I think he's worthy with the addition of the centennial sacks mark on there. Another double digit sack season would definitely seal things for me. And you're absolutely right about the run stopping. He's come a long way in that area.

Exactly.....Harrison is living off that stupid SB INT return and a handful of good games against the Ravens (unfortunately). Suggs should go in hands down with his resume.
