Lets talk about Will Hill

39 posts in this topic

the man has arrived, absolute stud, carried our secondary tonight, if he wasnt out there i dont know if we win as jimmy graham may have lit us up.

he is the replacement we have been looking for, if only we still had jimmy and if elam would play as well as he did in college...

Will Hill did a great job tonight.  I think he's bought in as well as the rest of the team.  I have high hopes that this will continue.  We need him to anchor our secondary as far as, 'This can happen boys, let's do this!,' in the same fashion and get Webby to play as far up to his 2011 self as he can.

I knew he would be a big factor for us. Darian Stewart is still contributing but Will Hill is the best FS on the roster. NY felt they had to cut him because of off-the-field stuff, but they really didn't want to.

I think he played great tonight. I wouldn't re-sign him yet. He'll be a RFA next year. I would tender him and see how he does in a full year with a full off-season to learn everything and have the chemistry from day 1. He definitely brings back some of the playmaking we have missed.

He's a RFA so keeping him should be pretty easy.  Probably need a 1st round tender though.  His drug problems still worry me and a big contract after one season probably wouldn't be a smart idea.

Grim we agree on this 100%. This guy has to prove himself for the remainder of the season. Also I would give him a heavy incentive based contract. To protect himself and the team.

I suppose his coverage on Graham makes up for his blown coverage in the first quarter.

I absolutely get where you are coming from, and I agree...to an extent. But give a man his due, he was good tonight. And let's hope that continues and he only gets better

He blew a coverage early, but more than made up for it later.  He seems to be getting better each week and this was his best game by far, with only that one obvious mistake.  He's definitely earned that starting job.  If he keeps it up and keeps clean off the field as well, he could earn himself a nice payday as well.

Where did he come from again lol

He went to Florida, overlapping time on the team with Elam in 2010. He was undrafted in 2011, eventually picked up by the Giants after playing a year in the AFL, and then cut this recent offseason for smoking weed. He will be a RFA in 2015.

I hate to rain on this parade a bit, but Hill totally blew that coverage on Joseph Morgan for a 62 yard gain (the 2nd big play by the Saints), which was saved by Webb. He was also scored on by Graham with ~40 seconds left in the game.

Hill made some crucial splash plays all night though (which is what he was known for in NY). He is a very good safety, but he isn't perfect. I still want him back, but at the right price. I don't see him receiving more than a 2nd round RFA tender, considering his suspension history.

Yea seemed like there was a miscue or two there by hill but he more than made up for it overall

nobody is calling him the best for one game, but he is a stud, and he has shown flashes ever since he came back in week 6, he just finally put it ALL together tonight, and those miscues.. they happen, remember he is the only real starter in the entire secondary, everyone else is just mix matched pieces that werent on an nfl roster a few weeks ago, and then stewart webb and elam, these miscues are gonna happen all year.

and as for jimmy graham scoring at the end, its jimmy graham and drew brees, and i dont think i have EVER seen a player on a island with graham as much as will hill was tonight, 1v1 jumpball after jumpball, perfectly thrown passes where graham embarrasses the DB every time, but instead will hill just got his hands in there and knocks that ball loose repeatedly, there isnt a db in the league who i would trust to be in that position for a whole game, hell if we had to play the saints again next week i wouldnt trust will hill to be put in that position again, but the td given up at the end really can be overlooked in my opinion.

He took on Jimmy Graham 1 on 1 for most of the night and dominated that match-up which is very impressive ... Let's see if he can build on that performance.

Hello ravens fans...giants fan here. I came to see if people were talking about will hill. I'm sure most of you know he was with the giants the previous years. I'm not sure if you guys know how good he is. He makes plays all over the field. He defends the pass well and has great instincts for tackling and making stops behind the line of scrimmage. The giants have some decent talent on defense including Jpp, Beason, and drc. Will hill was the best player on the giants defense. He was a huge loss. I hope he stays clean cause he could be one of the best in the league. Good luck going forward. This was a GREAT pick-up for you guys. He just needs to keep his head straight.

Will had a great game and without question was one of the keys to beating NO. There were a couple of mistakes, but I would say that's not unexpected considering this was pretty much his second full game since last year.

Hill is a beast. He made one mistake early it looked like he bit on the underneath crosser leaving Webb exposed over the top. Other than that he was incredible. That pick 6 was a thing of beauty. Hw had awesome coverage on Graham at least 4 times leading to incompletions, unfortunately one was a crap penalty.

Hope he remembers who gave him a chance when his contract is up after this year! I honestly think he wants to be a Raven long term and Ozzie will make it happen

Thanks!  There was a lot of "wait and see" mentality by some of the board members right after the Ravens signed him. As soon as Hill was signed, my good friend who is a Giants fan said we are going to love what he brings to our defense.  Glad he's a Raven and I hope the defense continues to excel with Hill on the back-end.

From the minute he stepped in, will had a plan and stuck to it. I was wondering if will was going to cave after that TD from graham, but nope. He dusted himself off and was back to slapping those balls off of Jimmy's hand.

Great effort by will. Also, I didnt t recognize how big Will was! He was just as big as jimmy. Nice match up.

Probably the best show last night watching two fight off other than Justin driving through Wagner/yanda's hole

he seems to be enjoying himself on the field, the passion he was showing on that field last night hasnt been shown by a defender since ray was here, i dont know how he acted when he was with the giants but he seems to feel right at home with us.

I don't remember seeing that much last year.  The defense seems to be getting a little bit of that old Ravens attitude back.

I have been asking for this since he was re-instated I think we might have actually soildified the back end to take pressure off our corners.Gorrer i also believe was a geat pick up and when asa comes back hopefully we can play as well as we did last night tomake a run.He did have a blown coverage but I think he made up for that.I hope we can gain chemistry and STOP GIVING UP THE BIG PLAY.Hills int was due to pressure but still it was a major swing in the game.Maybe it can give us the swag we need to start playing lights out 410 style.LEZZZ GO RAVENS. . . .
