2014-2015 NHL Season

Hey, everyone. I've seen threads about the other sports, so I'd figure I start one about the National Hockey League.

To kickstart it...

1) Who's your favourite team? (I live and bleed blue for the Toronto Maple Leafs)

2) Which team you believe is their year for the Stanley Cup?

3) What do you think about some of the games every night? Or certain ones that strike your mood this season?

My three fave-raves in the NHL are all Original Six clubs - Leafs, Wings and Broadway Blueshirts.

 

The Hawks believe this is their season for the Cup, at least, that's what I believe.

 

Some of the games should interest me, especially when the Wings and Preds mix it up - also the Wings and Jackets.

Went to my first live NHL game earlier this month - Caps vs Hurricanes. Sat five rows from the ice behind where the Caps shot twice. Had a lot of fun and the Caps fans were a cool bunch, so I guess I'm on that bandwagon for the time being.

 

Also, I don't think there's a position I respect in any sport more than the goaltender.

I went to a Penguins Game in Pittsburgh, they were playing the Hurricanes and I wore my Capitals jersey. They all looked at me like I was crazy, especially when I yelled "O" during the national anthem.

 

Big Caps fan but is it ever going to be their year?

 

I will root for any team playing the Penguins

Welcome to my world as my Leafs take on the Penguins on the road tonight! Toronto has been pretty hot as of late, winning two straight since the two blowout losses last week and "Salute-gate" (where after their win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, they didn't salute to their fans, which some people called them 'classless' or other negative things, but they did salute after beating down Detroit).

 

As for the Caps, I think it could be, based on their players and how they are playing thus far (3rd in the Metropolitan). If they keep going strong, they might find themselves back in the postseason.

Ah... Bob Probert. I remembered watching a fight on the ice via a tape from the '95 season (don't know who he fought), and I remembered that it was a long tussle but a good one.

My Broad Street Bullies are the definition of mediocre this year. Just good enough to fool some fans into thinking we might win games each night, but we can't get it done.

While we're discussing the NHL, what does anyone think of the Predators - their chances to bring the Cup to Music City?

If anyone had told me my Flames would be in the position they are right now before the season started I would have laughed in their face.  

 

And yet here we are.  Unreal.

My bruins are god awful this year and I knew they would be sigh. Need to get rid of gm already and also claude julien, he simply won't start youngsters often despite providence having some great ones, the few he does start might make 1 error in a game and he won't pick them again. Meanwhile chara has slowed down badly, lucic as much as I love him isn't scoring, paille does nothing and we have too many old bodies doing nothing out there.

Besides Ravens and Terps, this just isn't a good year for me in any sports. NJ devils havent been same since 2012 when Parise left and now were team of old stars who are past their prime.

I am so excited for the future of my Buffalo Sabres. I hope they land McEichel and can start their run for a cup in some years

Good OT win for the Ducks to close out the series. They looked like the only team that was going to pull it off from around the third period on. Caps will be disappointed at having to go to seven, but it'd be nice to see them advance to the finals as well.

They break my heart year in and year out. Maybe they can finally win a game 7 but the odds are not good.

Usually if you have a 3-1 lead and dont close it out before game 7 things get bad, my bruins nearly blew that same kind of lead against toronto in 2013.

Don't really watch hockey but I was watching OT last night and got into the game - disappointed when they lost. The Capitals' goalie is outstanding.
