Lets be real for a moment, it was a dig. Was it true, yes, but it was a dig. If I was the coach of the Ravens, damn right I would have said the exact same thing to my players about a hated foe that we are in a playoff race with, but I do have a problem with it being aired. You have to be able to trust CBS will not make that mistake and they did. You don't want that stuff out there, it is private locker room stuff between Harbs and the players. Harbs tries hard to stay professional on camera and it is unfortunate that it got put out there.

This is definitely true. People get tired of some of the stuff he says, calling it 'coachspeak' - which a lot of it is - but we all know what happens behind closed doors. This is football and Harbaugh is a good coach.

I agree with this. I'm sure these kind of comments are commonplace in the NFL. We just never hear them.

Soooo

Squealers launch a safety over the top of the Jets victory formation just fine and sporting...

Harbaugh states a fact, the outrage!!

Whatever, see you clowns in the playoffs!

Loved seeing the safety get flipped, if only it was polumalu. I think its a dirty tactic that has a high probability to injure somebody.

Totally agree.  Like someone said on another post regarding the same subject, the cameras shouldn't be allowed in for the first 10 minutes after a game. Some things said between the coaches and the players should stay in-house.

CBS frankly stunk from the announcers to I guess the camera crew. There are rules about every thing else so I'm sure they have to let the guys decompress maybe some put clothes on -- or a towel so the family jewels aren't hanging out.

A couple thoughts:

1. What's said behind closed doors is a non-issue. This got out…so people are going to react.

2. Its one of those things you defend if your guy says it and you bash the crap out of Tomlin if he does it.

3. Mostly, it shows what an obsession with the Steelers your organization has…top to bottom. (I know, I know, I'm in here so whats my obsession..guess what, I'm not the head coach.)

4. In spite of recent success, in spite of a more recent super bowl,  in the glow of a nice win and getting back on track…your guy is thinking still about the Steelers…I kinda like that!

I actually loved the last part of the quote!  It was a very nice touch.

The rivalry is ramping up…if we meet in the play-offs….hide the wife and children!

B, the rivalry was ramped up when they asked Tomlin prior to our last meeting about the steelers preparation for the Ravens and I believe he responded with ; "They are nameless, gray faces!"  Then after the game, when he ran the score up to make a statement in embarrassing the Ravens when he said; "They beat us by 20pts in their place and now we just beat them by 20 pts. here...so we're even!"

Soooo, Tomlin can have this animosity towards the Ravens and verbalize it and nothing happens and now that Harbaugh's private statement to his team comes out; everyone is suppose to be upset by it or even scared of the Steelers cause he said it?  Man please!  I loved his backbone and passion!

Let's play devil's advocate: If we blew out the Steelers last week and then lost this week, would we have this same "who cares?" reaction if Tomlin said we got our buts kicked? Serious question. I know the answer.

Most would probably be in an uproar telling him to mind his damn business and worry about his own team. But most probably won't admit it.

Probably but that's a rivalry for you - and a really good one, too

Per 3 & 4 did you actually hear the post game interview in it's entirety?  B/C if you did, you would realise that it really was more about the Ravens resolve and not the Steelers.   In a nutshell, he was basically saying anything can happen after a win or loss.  "The Steelers beat us last week and turned around and get their butt kicked, we lose to the Steelers and show true resolve" (something along those lines)

Don't gloat too much.  It was more about how the Ravens responded this week and less about your Steelers losing to the JETS!

But to be honest…and fair…Tomlin has said the "nameless gray" quote about other opponents…not just the Ravens. And I never made any of the claims you list here.

You're certainly welcome to interpret it that way!  :268213:

Of course we're worried about the Steelers as they should be but in your opinion your organazation is not worried about the Ravens? Seriously. Looks like a blind arrogant  Steeler fan comment to me.

Gatorade baths over regular season wins…bringing up Steelers in non-Steeler game locker room speech…etc, etc…not blind or arrogant…just the facts, ma'am.

I see it more as an example of how week to week this league is than anything else. Had Denver demolished us and then lost to the Jets I am sure he would have said the same thing about them to the players. I think the players needed that type of reminder with the way things have been around here losing to the Bengals twice and getting blown out by you guys. Don't really see it as a dig at the Steelers, just a learning experience for the players and thanks to you guys losing to the Jets ;) (had to fit that in somehow lol), I think it drives the point home. Hopefully the players take it to heart and give their full effort week in week out the rest of the way because as we all know, anything can happen.

Are you serious B?  You are really delusional if you don't think that your guy and organization doesn't have an obsession with the Ravens organization from top to bottom.

I didn't say that you made those claims B I was just speaking in general.  However, that "nameless gray" faces quote for the Ravens or any other team is disrespectful but you guys are cool with that right?  Of course you are!  So as a Ravens fan I'm cool with Harbaugh saying that the team that beat us last week got their asses kick this week-cause they did!  And any time the Ravens win and the steelers lose....that's great television.

1. If Tomlin did it, I wouldn't even care. I could care less, honestly. Those things don't bother me at all.

2. I'm not sure it's an obsession as much as it is a way of saying that we won and the team that beat us lost. For all we know, he said the same thing about the Colts.

3. I get your but I think you could be reaching here. If it happened two weeks removed from the game then I would agree. But since it was the last game I'm not so sure I agree here.

http://dailysnark.com/cbs-airs-postgame-comments-john-harbaugh-taking-shot-pittsburgh-steelers/

Here's the full video, only 20ish seconds long.  The blatant disrespect from CBS is kinda ridiculous, he's pretty clear that what he's about to say should not be aired.

ahhhh........hearing the entire thing makes it much clearer.  What I get from what he said is that last weeks game was a hard fought match that the squealers won, but the Ravens came out of the game with resolve and won this week while the squealers played poorly and lost.

"..........then they went and got their ***** kicked. This team was in the same game and then went and got the job done this week, that's who you are, that's who you are. Congratulations."

This was nothing more than a statement meant to pump up his team and bolster their confidence moving forward.  lol at the squealer dude thinking Harbs is somehow "obsessed" with the squealers. Again, he just used them as the example of a team that had a letdown after a hard fought division rivalry game and his team came back and won after playing in the same game. And duh, they are a hated division rival. That didn't just start last week!

Airing this really would be no big deal if he hadn't specifically asked that it not be shown.

The way steeler fans are reacting you'd figure Harbaugh would have said something like they're soft or other unkind phrases like many of the ex-steelers have been saying.

Harbs only told the truth, they got their behinds kicked by the Jets, while the Ravens handled business. That's a fact and it's indisputable.

Ring or not this year, I'd love another shot at them in the playoffs to get that off the 3 checklist. Sick of Steelers fans hanging the, "we've never beat them in the playoffs" crap over our head.
