I'd love to see Ray stay and groom his replacement , maybe play a couple more years and then .. play / coach his way to a Ravens linebacker coach .. His leadership is undeniable and he would be a great motivator / coach ... Also I like to see Florida's Brandon Spikes come to Baltimore This or next draft I've watched him play in some sec games this year and he is a beast !!!
i couldn't agree with this post more!

#1: Ray is going nowhere
#2: It's all about the entire group of LB, that's made the Ravens D so strong
#3: it my be a wrong guest, but i'm sure that Tavaress Gooden, out of the U like Ray, might be a good 3rd round pick. Not even close of Ray's talent, but i'm sure he could do something good in the future, specally if Suggs and Barnes (with a good developpement) stay at Baltimore. Gooden have the profil of a good starter MLB. The day that Ray left the town, it will be hard, but the LB unit is going great.
#4: Look at the impact of Ngata, I'm sure that I will became the next leader of this defense in the next 3 or 4 year, after Ray's retirement!!!

Move JJ inside, resign Bart, Sizzle and Brown, tag Ray and trade him for Detroits First round pick (20) and the draft Larry English and Vontae Davis or Alphonso Smith int he first round or draft English and DHB and the draft CB round 2,
That being said, we can still fall back to the rest of the league at ILB and get a solid player. I just can't see a franchise ILB that late in the first round.
Jon Beason was a real late round pick by the panthers and he and patrick willis are going to have the NFC ILB pro bowl spots locked down for the next ten years.

If JJ is good at dropping into coverage, then that would be a good idea, he does have the right size at 6'3 and 265. I don't know how realistic it would be to tag Ray and trade him to anyone because I believe the team we trade with has to give up a two first rounders, and I don't think he's worth that much to anyone at 33.

I would like to see us make a trade to move into the early part of the second round to try and grab Britt or Nicks if we draft a corner in the first, or D.J. Moore or Sean Smith if we draft a WR in the first. I would also like to see us keep our late second pick to try and grab a TE like Chase Coffman, because I think he could come out and be a solid receiving TE and would just need to work on blocking, so he could be a solid replacement for Heap in a couple years.

teams dont have to give two first rounders
last year Corey Williams was tagged and was traded for a secound
Jared Allen wzs tageed and traded for a 1st, two thirs and a 5th

SO Ray for the 20th overall is fair as Detroit needs a defensive leader with agreesion, Ray is better uited to the 4-3, Shwartz would love a player of rays quaility on the defnse, it could happen imagine this

Cut McALsiter
Resign Brown
Resign Sizzle
Sign Nnamdi Asomugha
let Bart walk
tag Ray Lewis trade to DET for 2oth overall
Move JJ inside

1 (20) - Larry English or Aaron Maybin
1 (26) - Darius Heywerd Bey
2 (26) - Jarron Gilbert
3 (26) - Jasper Brinkley
4 (26) - Kevin Barnes
5 (26) Quinn Johnson
7 (26) DJ Boldin

Defense looks like

Washington - Reed - Landry - Asomugha
Suggs - JJ - Gooden/Brinkley - English
Ngata - Gregg - Pryce

Offense

Gaither - Grubbs - Brown - Yanda - Anderson
Flacco, McGahee, McClain, Rice, Heap, Syp
Mason, Clayton, DHB, D-will

= SUPERBOWL CHAMPS

^We have no chance at Asomugha. And even if we somehow managed to aquire him all he does is take out one player, QB reads will focus on humiliating Washington/Walker whoever is opposite.

Personally I dont see anyone replacing Ray, and Bart Scott is as close as we are going to get for a long time. The hole Ray leaves (like any future HOFer) when he retire/leaves will not be filled but gives us a chance to balance out the team a bit better.

Ya but the ability to totally take out on player before the ball is snapped is a skill few players have ever possessed, that way you can afford to help washington on the other side leaving Asomugha alone on an island. But your right the chances of getting him are about as slim to none as it gets.

Washington was solid though, and he seemed to improve as the year went on. Now Walker on the other hand looked bad when he was forced to play first string and not nickel.
