Anyone catch this "dirty" Steelers play?

Thoughts?  I thought it was hilarious that after he did that, all the Jets players started ganging up on him like Lions ready to feast LOL

You don't have to put it in quotes, it IS dirty.

The victory formation is the end of the game - the opposing team lost. That's it. Greg Schiano pulled dirty crap on the victory formations in some of his numerous loses. It's embarassing, dirty, and ineffective. The only thing it achieves is giving you a poor reputation and exposing poor sportsmanship. I'd be angry if a Raven did it and especially if it was done against our team.

Even #51 on the Steelers throws up his hands as if to say "really??"

edit - the worst part is that the ref is literally picking his nose as the teams are jostling with each other - no flag for unsportsmanlike or unecessary - and Mike Tomlin is slouched over, thinking about what cliches to use at this weeks' presser.

Cheater Tomlin would say that he wasn't getting flagged cuz we are playing within the rules, but he doesn't know the word sportsmanship ever existed in the sport dictionary.

PS: Man, I want CBS keep John's locker room speech after the game.  Thanks Rex for whooping the Stealers' butt...lol

They've got this play on today's Late For Work. I think I watched the loop for about 5 minutes, laughing the whole time. Poor sportsmanship gets you nowhere.

Pretty much every player I've heard of thinks it's dirty. When the bucs did it and now the steelers. Could you imagine if Vick or Eli are injured on the play?

Yeah injuring the opponents QB in a victory formation is a classless chump way to play the game. It is taking sportsmanship and kicking it to the curb.

The plot thickens:

As for Mitchell's much-criticized leap toward quarterback Michael Vick with the Jets lined up in a victory formation, Tomlin said, “It was not professional. Mike is an emotional guy. He's new to us, learning how we do business.”

Roethlisberger was critical, too, saying, “(Our) guys would go nuts, would probably come off the bench” if someone did that to the Steelers.

However, Mitchell was emphatic after the game in saying he was following Tomlin's orders because “I'm going to do whatever coach T tells me to do.”

“He came over and said something to me prior to that sequence. To be honest, I couldn't hear what he said,” Tomlin said. “I just kind of acknowledged him and nodded. I guess he assumed I gave him those instructions. … (But) we don't want to play football like that.”

PLAYING THE GAME

The Jets took exception to Mitchell trying to anticipate the snap count and fly over center Nick Mangold and at quarterback Michael Vick while Vick was in the process of taking a knee on a play that occurred with 1:13 remaining and the Steelers out of timeouts.

Pushing and shoving ensued after the play. Mitchell was unconcerned with the Jets’ reaction.

“I don’t really care anything about what they’re saying,” Mitchell said. “I’m going to do what ‘Coach T’ (Tomlin) tells me to do. He could tell me to run into a wall at 100 miles an hour and that’s what I’m going to do. We thought maybe we could get them to drop the ball, be startled by it. It just didn’t work out that way.”

Ruh-roh! Get them stories straight, Mike(s)!

And so Tomlin pleads ignorance for his mistake.... again. The fact that he'd rather try and let his player take the heat is disgusting. Hoping another fine comes his way.

I'm supposed to believe that tomlin, the guy who tried to trip an opposing player in the biggest display of coaching d-baggery I've ever seen wasn't in on this? Please.

Oh noes, guess Mitchell didn't get the memo on the company line

Post-Gazette: Was there a miscommunication?

Mitchell: “Whatever coach said is what the story is.”

Post-Gazette: Had you ever done that before?

“Nope. I have not.”

Post-Gazette: Did it bother you that Mike Tomlin said it was not professional?

Mitchell: “Whatever coach said is what it was. I don’t have any opinion on that. I’m just preparing for the Titans.”

Nice job, Mike! That sounds like a happy camper and great communication.

I personally don't mind the play if the offense knows it's coming. When the offense and defense get set, they'll say that they're going to kneel and the defense will basically say they're not going to try to push at all. If the offense saw that coming, I'd have no issue. It's the same reason I had no issue with what Schiano did. The game is played for sixty minutes and the players should be able to fight until then.

What I took issue with is that Mitchell got flipped while trying to jump over and then got up and tried to start a fight over it. Maybe don't try that if you aren't prepared to get hit back?
