Next Up: Saints

In my opinion, this is a "must win". Saints are on the ropes and a good team should be able to give the knockout punch. I believe we will pack the good Joe and go get this "W". I believe it so much that I'm going to NOLA to make sure it happens.Go Ravens!#RavensNation

Agreed. And really, to me, has nothing to do with the Saints. it is the simple fact that if we think we are a playoff team, this is a game we must win to keep pace in our division.

To me, a "must win" game implies that the Ravens are done if they lose, which is clearly not the case.

If we lost this game, and then went on to win our last 5 (certainly reasonable), we'd finish 11-5 and almost certainly win the division.

Frankly, of the 6 remaining games on our schedule left, I find this one to be the least relevant of all of them. Every other possible team we would lose to would have a direct impact on our potential playoff seeding. This one I don't think you can say that about.

I think this game is important for momentum but if there's a game we could pick lose out of our remaining schedule this would be the one I would choose since it's our only NFC game left. I do think it's important but even if we do lose were not yet done. I do think this win is important for morale and momentum though.

After a bye week they should be ready to grind it out and dominate both lines. Id prefer the ground game but you never can tell how cute they will try and be..

Sense of comfort from the forum members?

Imagine Harbaugh bringing that up in his pregame speech.

"Right boys, we don't really need the win here as long as we win our other games. But we'd make the posters on BR.com far more comfortable if we get it done. So let's get out there and win, for the posters' sake!"

I loved his first statement on the trailer for the Steelers....  "We Love to Hate the Steelers"....

He is such an O's and Ravens fan, it wouldn't surprise me at all.

It would make him a legend on these boards, like the guy during tryouts who came in and started responding to others' comments about him the other year.

That would be soooooo awesome.

It would make my year.

What's the difference between must and need...?

I actually understand what he's saying. We can afford to lose so its not a must win, but if we do lose after a bye week against a bad team that the bengals just beat, i dont see us rebounding to win the next few that we must win.

bold predictions, 2 of the saints offensive starters are knocked out of the game by big hits, im gonna say mosley annihilates ingram on a dumpoff pass, and im gonna say one of our safeties rocks jimmy graham big time and causes a turnover.

surprise breakout game for elam maybe?

Ok. I'm really ready for this game to get started!  The anticipation of which Ravens team will show up is building!  C'mon Monday night!

We will need to win this game and others against good QBs the same way we did during our Super Bowl run which was offense. I think our defense will be okay. That 6 TD performance against the Steelers was an anomaly but they won't shut down an elite QB without Jimmy. This game is on the offense to deliver.

I see that as you envision this as a  team goal to win.   We had a taste,  The offense has to score at least 24+ to keep up with Brees' success.  Of course, if our D claims turnovers and the special teams deliver then the game is ours.  We have to keep Brees buried in his side of the field.

Lets keep an eye on Elam.  I'll support him if he can defend and tackle.  Gorley and Hill have to stay steady

gorrer? lol but honestly i dont expect our cb's to do anything but upset us this week. our only chance is to win with our front seven, and i think we will do exactly that, i think our pass rush dominates, and our underneath zone coverage takes awway the short passing game, i think brees will be too shaken to face the rush and hurl it downfield and while our cb's will get beaten often, i expect our safeties to be in position to make huge plays with under and overthrown deep balls due to cb's being beaten in a heavy pass rush.

hopefully pees realizes no matter how many people we drop into coverage, brees will pick it apart, our only hope is to bring 5 or more on every snap, and surprise the hell out of breezy, elam or brooks could easily hide behind an OLB and fly into the backfield untouched on a delay, if they show an empty backfield we need to take advantage by sending stunts and delays

I actually really like Gorrer and never understood why he wasn't a permanent fixture on someone's defense.

Outside of Jimmy Smith, our entire secondary has gone through upgrades. Stewart,  Brown and Franks have been upgraded, Brooks has improved drastically, and we're now owning up to Webb's stinkage and reducing his role. Plus the defense now had their week to rest and self-evaluate.

That said, unfortunately Brees should still have a good game. Their offense is pretty good.

Has anyone talked about how QB Drew Brees has beaten every team in this league, including the Saints (as a Charger), except for Baltimore?  Considering the next time we could play him will be 4 years from now ... in Baltimore no less ... this might be his last chance to beat all 32.  Not trying to jinx us, just an observation.

Yes, there's an article about it on our front page. The jinx is on.
