Jimmy Smith done for the season

377 posts in this topic

Then get the, in free agency.

Maxwell

Cromartie

I dont care..just get them. Cut ngata and do not give torrey a new deal.

Ngata is playing lights out this season probably the best since the 2010 season. I think he's really healthy this season and the switch to DE is definitely improving his play. Theres no way we cut Ngata maybe a contract extension like Suggs got this past offseason. Id expect Ngata to be traded before cut.

Hes had a good season but i dont see him as irreplacable at this point?we have so,e great young talent in his position to mould.

We need to cut him for much bigger needs.

I would only cut him and clear that space if I knew that that money was going towards and an elite number one receiver, otherwise I'm not interested

The Saints, Chargers, Dolphins, and Browns all scare me in the passing game.  The Saints and Chargers are obvious.  Tannehill and the Dolphins have been on a roll lately.  The Browns will have Gordon back at that point and that's a terrifying thought.

chargers do scare me as well. but it sone of those games im 50/50 on chargers normally dont play well at 1 o clock games on th east coast

I'm sure Jimmy's exam was already scheduled, so why cut 2 CBs before his exam results.

Because they were crap. You have to at least make an attempt to improve enough to win. Levine filled in at CB during the preseason and did alright.

We need a high draft pick...i said this last year..why are we trying to be what we are not.

Just tank. We need a superstar player..best chance of that happening is with a high draft pick

We are not going to come anywhere near the sb so just tank it...why settle for the 14th pick when you could have the 8th :)

I've said it before but our last losing season, 2007 was a blessing in disguise.

Brought us John Harbaugh, and in the draft got Flacco and Rice with the first two picks, both key contributors to our Super Bowl win. Without Rice, do we convert the 4th & 29? Without Flacco, are we anywhere near that Super Bowl?

Last season brought us another decade plus star ILB in Mosley, so who knows what this season brings us, maybe this is just the football gods giving Ozzie the chance to reboot our team before winning another Super Bowl.

Our front office made a huge mistake keeping so many safeties and not enough corners

Blame Ozzie !! That's right. In Ozzie we trust .Just not this season.

4 corners  7 safeties!!!!!!!!!!!

Someone should get fired over this . Is Bisciotti gonna pull the trigger.

Ok bring on the hate but I'm right here.

Can Joe pull off a miraculous run ? We are gonna need it.

No weapons and he is too damn inconcistent.

I think the Browns will be playing Manziel in week 17. They won't be in the race anymore.

What you're painfully forgetting is the fact we've use two of our safeties, Brooks and Elam, as corners at various points. All things considered, they both did well

And at the superdome lol. We are gonna embarrass ourselves on national tv once again.

Well, I've been one of the more positive, non-panicked type posters on these boards.

But even I'll admit... this is a big freaking problem.

It'll be nice to get another good draft pick, hopefully we'll get another talent like Mosley.

That's the only good thing I can say, because without Jimmy the season is over. 2007 all over again.

But hopefully on the offense side for a change in addition to a good one for defense

I don't think you understand what I'm saying.

Why even try to cover at this point? Our only hope is to blitz.

Probably just overreacting but our only chance, to me, is to get so much pressure we make Gorrer look like Sherman.

I completely agree. I think it was you who said we plan on more press man. I think they made the moves yesterday knowing Jimmy was done and figured we're going to be doing a lot more blitzing now.

Just realized we have two linebacker in top 5 for tackles. What a waste of the best front seven we had in years.

They are not meant to play there  .Please Elam could not cover a fly.

Like Vinny said on 105.7 the Fan today, this is a CORNER LEAGUE

You need plenty of corners, not safeties.

Dont forget Mallet, Mettenberger and Bortles three studs playing lights out...

The consensus here is a negative...Once again i think its a great opportunity for the run game to take off and dominate finally get the deep play-action clicking...just wait and see

Really feel sorry for Jimmy Smith, he was having such a great season, Jimmy get better soon, prayin' for ya man!

Let's just let the rest of the season play out and see where we end up, there are 52 other guys on this team ya know that have a will to win.  Folks thought all was lost when we lost Suggs and R. Lewis in the same game, but that turned out pretty good!  Injuries don't just happen to one team.  Think positive guys!

Perhaps an even bigger problem is... if you are Jimmy Smith... why on Earth would you agree to ANY long-term deal from the Ravens this offseason?

Coming off a season ending injury, his agent would almost certainly tell him to play out the option year and attempt to rebuild his value, which was already sky high.

This actually might end up costing the Ravens significantly more money...

seriously and everyone on the DLine is getting to be almost 100% healthy. pass rush is on fire and the secondary is the worst in the NFL. what is most sad is we do have one of the best pass rushes in the NFL and have the worst secondary.. if we had pro bowl webb, jimmy of this year and Ed Reed of 3 years ago we'd have the best D in the NFL hands down.

I dont know why you got neg for that....to me ozzie has been slacking in the areas we needed people, but instead we rolled the dice and lost.....look its no reason for all them safeties.....to be honest the safeties might be even worst than the dbs cause they are suppose to be the safety net and cant even do that....everytime I see a long ball thrown, i always see elam or stewart coming late in the picture

Neither Suggs nor Lewis were playing particularly well. We had guys to step up like Ellerbe and Kruger.

Who in the secondary has shown they can do that?

There is truth to this primarily because we have a tough division this year.

Yup browns have a chance to be first place tonite.

Sorry if anybody has posted this already (I haven't read the whole thread):

CB corps to start the season:

Jimmy Smith (out for season)

Lardarius Webb (not playing as well as before, limited by back injury early on)

Asa Jackson (IR/return)

Chykie Brown (waived)

This too. Love Jimmy but the team should be wary of giving him a long-term deal.
