We actually used to have Gorrer, He did some work for us on Santonio Holmes

Graham did get both but he Caused one of them.

Chykie won the 2012  Thursday night Pittsburgh game by stopping Sanders on a 2pt conversion.

That was the Thanksgiving game last year, not 2012

This is ignoring that Webb follows the number one receiver most of the time, when Jimmy isn't healthy. The two times I've seen Brown play the one, it was an embarrassing touchdown. Can't just go by PFF

Disagree that Webb follows the best receiver, Jimmy also never follows the best receiver Most of the time. Pees always switches up coverages and moves cornerbacks all over the place. Webb got burned by Markus Wheaton for a long TD. Webb also let Greg Little get behind him last week which could have gone for a score while Sanu was the number 1 at the time. Chykie gave up a TD to AJ green the first game of the season. That isn't following the best reciever.

Sucks for Chykie to be cut but we needed to send a message and I think we did just that. Hopefully Jacobs can do better.

We aren't cutting Webb this year, according to http://overthecap.com/salary-cap/baltimore-ravens (EDIT: This is pre June 1st so it is different but there is still 14 mil in dead money if we cut him and that would count as 4 mil in dead money(saving 3.5 mil this year) and 10 mil in dead money next year so while it would save money short term, it would hurt us quite a bit for next year) We save 2 mil if we cut him this offseason which I don't think we do but could if he plays badly enough. I do think 2016 could realistically be where it happens when we save 6 mil by getting rid of him.

Webb was going to play on Brown more often than not. I saw him on Brown against Pitt for the most part, if he wasn't playing in the slot. That's one thing you can guarantee: Webb will be in the slot in three wide sets. Also, as you said, the Ravens weren't going to have Webb shadow, but considering Brown was inactive for several weeks due to performance, not health, the Ravens were going to try to avoid Brown on any top receiver if they could, which they apparently always didn't. I'm just saying that Brown wasn't more impressive

Good to see that Jacobs is the one who got the call.  I just mentioned last night that I'd rather see him out there taking his lumps than Chykie.  Might as well give the young guy a shot because it really can't get much worse.

I know we're not cutting him lol just said he was worse haha. He doesn't deserve that money though

They've both been horrible but C Brown has been a little better although in less amount of snaps.

Don't get all the buzz for Gorrer. I get that we used to have him and he looked promising at times, but Teryl Austin (who has done a great job with their defense this year btw) and the Lions cut him....Has to be a legitimate reason.

At this point, sure I'd like to see him over brown but he's far from being the savior to our secondary.

I hope Brown finds work elsewhere.

I was going to write this very thing but I was too lazy.

They cut him in favor of Kyle Van Noy whom was activated from i.r designated return also he's there second round pick and Gorrer just became expendable since he's most likely their fifth cornerback. Gorrer contract isn't even guranteed so that probably paid a part into it as well but he played well for The Lions when asked to.

There are speculations that The Lions will try to bring Gorrer back if he isn't signed to another team.

Where'd all this sudden love for Gorrer come from? We all loved him when he played for us and rooted for him, but he's not an upgrade to Franks, at best he's on the same level, he's been a journeyman special teamer his entire career with a few snaps here and there, he would far from alleviate our secondary woes. Tramain won't either but he's a rookie that showed promise, it'd be best to give him some experience as the #3 CB and when Jimmy and Asa come back he'll head back down to PS, no need to sign a less than stellar vet to do the same, give the young guy a few snaps against a Titans team that can't pass then after the bye Jimmy will be back and he'll be done, no need to get your panties in a bunch over nothing

I'm not upset that Chykie got cut, BUT why was Franks not cut as well?? This guy has stunk the preseason and the regular season up. When we resigned him a few weeks ago, I cringed. He is not a starting CB. I think somewhere deep in his heart, he knows he's not a starting caliber CB.

The Ravens have to cut ties with this guy. Period. I'd rather Levine and Brooks at safety.

Even changing Franks number from 42 in preseason to 32 in regular season has not helped. He can't guard a house much less an NFL athlete. I'm tired of seeing this guy look clueless when his man is targeted in the passing game.

There has to be a corner sitting on his couch at home... that can outplay Franks.

Well until Ozzie invades the homes of thousands to find that superstar sitting on the coach, we will be using Franks

Gorrer is a better cover corner than Franks in my opinion. I never saw Gorrer give up the big plays Franks has and Gorrer seem to be more sound in his technique than Franks.  I'm not saying Gorrer would be the savior of our secondary but I definitely consider him to be a upgrade over Franks or even Asa Jackson

well i would say alot of that has to do with the fact that Gorrer has never seen significant time like Franks is seeing right now, if he were thrust into a starting job he would be exposed too, neither of them are starter quality and saying that one is better than the other doesn't really mean much. From what i remember he was good on ST and if he were signed then we'd get depth at CB and we'd be able to let go of one of our Safeties that we are holding onto just for ST but really the difference between him and Franks is minimal and letting go of one to sign the other wouldn't make a difference, a ton of pressure would just be thrust on Gorrer, but i doubt he could do any better than Franks is right now

Are people really acting like Gorrer can be a savior?  Yes, he played well here, but he's also been bouncing around the league since we released him.  I like the guy, but he's another one that has been severely overrated around here.

this is the best opportunity for a young CB, Safety to have on this team. after harbaugh telling them to step up, what better way to prove yourself a long term player for the team.

btw... 7-9 lol

You make a good point but it's just that I seen more out of Gorrer in a limited role than I have out of Franks. I actually liked Franks and I'm not calling him terrible cornerbacks but atleast with Gorrer he's cornerback Dean Pees can use in man coverage instead of constant off man coverage like he keeps doing with Franks.

That's what I'm hoping. At least if we're going to be bad let it be a growing experience for a young guy with upside.

I know it'll be a shock but completely agree. Let the mistakes at least possibly be a learning curve for a young guy with potential.

Exactly.  If there are going to be mistakes, I'd rather see it from a guy that could possibly have a future here.

I don't have problem with Chykie his coverage was lacking in training camp, preseason and now the regular season as well. He's not improving with his awareness at all.

But I'm still trying to understand the logic in having 5 or 6 safeties even know that W.Hill is back from suspension.

Seeing RUMORS on twitterp

Franks waived and gorrer signed

Wow... I see Ozzie and Co are tired of our secondary getting torched. Though I hate to bring up the past, but Brandon Flowers was available.
