No to dez. No more aging FAs . It is time to actually build a receiving corps that is going to be here for a while. That is how you get consistency. You don't get it with inconsistency from season to season on your receiving corps.

i dont see how we get a number 1 receiver in our building by next season if its not through FA. they dont grow aj greens on trees. dez bryant would be 26 and would have 5 more years of prime in him left. i'll take that and a wr in the first 3 rounds next year to compliment steve smith, campanaro, and aiken.  Plus i rather hit cb with our mid first round pick and in the later rounds.

I see where you're headed; I'm thinking some 1953 Peter Pan. Film is ridiculously funny.

I think I'm liking the "things could always be worse" approach for humor tonight.

Tomorrow I'll pick up Curious George  :)

We don't need an AJ Green, though it would be nice. We just need better than sub par which is what we currently have outside of Smith Sr.

That 70's Show for me. Always cheers me up.

I watched it sometimes a few years ago, but haven't really at all lately. Most of my humor selection is actually pretty clean, seeing as I'm a sucker for Disney films, and I think some have some of the best comedy ever - Peter Pan, Robin Hood, Aladdin, and The Emperor's New Groove to name a few of the funniest.

we need top 20 receiving talent for the long term. we just dont have that. i dont see us getting an explosive talent in the draft unless we are lucky. I'd rather sign one and draft one. I think we can sign dez or at least a starter and a tight end next year so we can go CB and bpa in the draft.

Sounds expensive

not when you consider the cap expanding, the inevitable cuts to veterans, jimmy's extension, and the fact that we are not signing any of our fas this year to expensive contracts. plus, how can you commit money only to yanda, monroe. zuttah and flacco on offense next year. considering pittas done, there is no money invested in the receiving corps. what was torrey's money should be allocated towards an actual playmaker.

maybe not this game but dez bryant would have been useful against the bengals and colts. extremely useful.

Jerry Jones isn't gonna let Dez go.  He'd plunge the whole franchise into salary cap hell just to keep him

That isn't how we do and is never going to happen. The only FAs you will get here will be guys who were somethin' somethin' years ago and have been cut by their team because they think they're done. And 9 times out of 10, they'll be correct. But that will be our #1 go-to guy. And that is the problem. We can't afford to do it your way. We already will have Rice's dead money & if Pitta can't play, we still have to pay him. So now they'll be that too.

It is why we need to do it through the draft - talent on the cheap that you have for at least 4 years.

plus if anything, if we dont get a receiver. i'd splurge on chris harris. Him, jimmy, and webb would make our defense top 10 again.

That was back when we had a core and just needed a vet here or there. Ozzie watched this debacle from the box. He cant ignroe the wr need for ever. there is no way we go into the draft with two glaring needs at receiver and cb. Ozzie loves BPA.

Ozzie and Co. are smarter than you give them credit for.  They address needs in Fa for the most part. I dont see where we would spend money this season. We have some cap space, which will increase once we let go of more veterans(haltoi, canty, koch). We are going to sign someone big whether it be wr or corner

No way. I think 2013 and 2014 are shaping up to be two of our best drafts and thats saying something considering the Oz's track record. We are also the only team in the division to have won something in this current decade. I'm down for sucking last year and possibly this year, if it means we come back with a vengence for the next 5 years.

People who say we need to rebuild: we are rebuilding as we speak. Look at the roster turnover from the superbowl. I'd say we are more than halfway from a complete rebuild(excluding flacco, jimmy smith, and kelechi osemele).

Exactly. Ozzie doesn't tank for 5 years to build a team. Our needs can be addressed in the draft and FA without going through cycles of tanking/massive rebuilding.

Maybe someone that watches the games a little closer can answer this, why does Joe not get the ball out quicker when he's getting pounded? Was doing pretty good with 2-3 second drop backs, getting it to OD, SSS, and Forsett. Why do we not do that more often?

I hate Brady/Manning because they'll nickel and dime you all the way to the endzone, but it's efficient. Plus, it draws the secondary closer to the line, setting up a long ball. Can our guys just not get separation that close or whaaaat?

Its exactly that. The closest thing we have to a reliable short yardage receiver is Owen Daniels. That is the dictionary definition of not good.

Campanaro showed some adeptness of doing that from the slot last sunday. Hope he is back in for the titans game. but yeah our only weapon on the outside is 35 year old steve smith(cue:facepalm). Antonio brown single-handedly ran through our secondary. who can do that on our team? if people want consistent offense, you need a talented o line and skill players. Its not enough to have time or plow people if no one can take advantage of it. This past offseason was devoted to the oline; this one will be devoted to skill players. People: the rise from 30th to elite takes time. even with kubiak.

best case scenario torrey is having a down year and we sign him up long term for cheap.... imagine if he was the reciever he was last year for jacoby jones $. he won't get much at all based on this seasons performance alone thus far... he'd be a heck of a WR3 if we land a true number 1 to play next to senior.

agree its just torrey is not worth jacoby money for 500 to 600 yards a season.jacoby at least can return kicks to the 30 yard line or farther. plus i really like camanaro to evolve into wes welker next year.

I agree about the draft being the way due to present salaries. The downside with the draft is that it's somewhat unpredictable how well players will transition to the NFL, and more of a gamble.

Steve Smith Sr. is #10 among receivers and sliding as teams learn how to shut him down. He had just 36 yards against the Steelers. and not many more against the Bengals. No other Raven receiver is in the top 50. Torrey S at #63 and Owen D at #77 is too wide of a gap between Steve Smith and the rest. The team has to adapt when Steve is having, not so good of a day.

What bad draft picks? 2014 has been a great year for drafts especially Mosley. But I guess in today's NFL fans won't let rookies be rookies. They want all draft picks to play like pro bowlers their first year.

Almost every 2012 and 2013 pick

Taliferro and Flacco lost us this game, after their two boneheaded turnovers momentum COMPLETELY shifted.

Ahhh my favorite day after a loss "Over-reaction Monday". People. We're 5-4, we still have a winning record. Yes, we played like crap, there is no denying that. But it's a tough division, arguably the toughest in the NFL right now that can send 3 teams to the playoffs. As much as I hate to say it, you have to give Pittsburgh credit for going into the game more prepared than we did. We beat them by 20 in week 2 and they beat us by 20. So it's even. On to the Titans! The longer you dwell on this game the longer it's going to hurt.

Amen.

Arguably you could make the case that *we* can bounce back. The Steelers, if we had swept them, would *not* have that opportunity. They still have to fight in the Jungle.

It wouldn't surprise me if 3 out of 4 AFC North Teams are 3-3 in the Division, with the Browns 2-4.

We need Flacco to take a big time pay cut.

he doesnt strike me as the type that would do that. He wanted to ''stick it to us'' remember?
