Need to go into the Bye Week with a win against the Titans. My optimistic approach is that we handle the Titans pretty decently, come out after the Bye with a solid game plan against the Saints and steal a victory in New Orleans, and we catch the Chargers traveling across country while we have momentum after a two game win streak. Realistically, it will be hard to beat the Saints at the Superdome on primetime tv.... Going to be tough to make the playoffs.

With no secondary and an inconsistent road offense, does anyone really think we could win in the Superdome......on MNF?

It will be an easy win, then loss At New Orleans after the bye. 6-5...hoping then to run the table.

You guys don't ever get tired of saying this "easy" win stuff?  Lol!

The Ravens don't do well with the mix of being on the road and being on primetime tv at the same time.

@Mili

I love my Ravens, but at times, it's so stressful to watch them on the road.

Honestly we beat up on a lot of bad teams or teams in a funk but we need to be able to beat good teams if we want to make the playoffs. Still time to correct stuff but the way we are now, we aren't a playoff team or if we are we aren't making any noise in there.

My favorite is the reality of being in last place has now set in for folks. What did they expect after watching PIT own IND last week? AND to be fair being down Jimmy Smith?

That same team got beat by the Bucs at home and blown out by the Browns. Same team.

I don't judge us by one game. We've shown that isn't a good measuring stick by the 2012 season. We've put ourselves in a tough spot - need to beat the Browns last game - guess a split between Bengals & Steelers is our best outcome and hope for some help. Once you hit the post season - anything can happen.

What's not a good measuring stick to me, is to compare the fight in that 2012 team with this 2014 team.  That's fools gold!  Two entirely different teams!  This team lacks the "true" heart of lions on both sides of the ball.  I'm going to say it.....they are Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and Matt Birk-less, to name a few notables!  Say what you (not you specifically but in general) want; but this team has not been the same since those cats retired or moved on!  It was in moments like tonight that we could see Ray Lewis in times past pacing the sidelines encouraging everyone to put a smile on their faces cause this is a 60 minute ball game!  Not now!  The thrill is gone and I hate what I'm seeing!  Smh!

did that 2012 team, with Lewis & Reed & Birk, get embarrased by the Texans and the Broncos? Certainly looked like they quit those games to me. Didn't look any different than today did. They also dropped a heartbreaker to Pitt late in the season.

They lost 4 of their last 5 games - everyone said they were done - people here said the exact same things we're saying about this team now in 2014 after each of those losses.

It was a bad loss - it was an embarassment. Sometimes, that is a needed wake-up call. We'll see.

The wake up call should've been last week when we had the chance to put a strangle hold on the division. We're now 2-3 in division games and sitting in the cellar where we'll be hoping for other teams to screw up instead of controlling what happens. Nothing is guaranteed with the Bills, Dolphins, Chiefs, Chargers right with us and every team in our division ahead of us now. This team has proven nothing. In the 2p12 season we at least showcased early resolve and an ability to hang with some of the best teams by actually beating them (the Patriots). This team hasn't shown me anything close to that yet.

You and I both know that this Ravens team IS NOT that Ravens team no matter how many stats you toss out there to try and make them be ravensdfan.  Lol!  Horrible loss? Absolutely!  Wake up call?  Naw!  IF the Ravens didn't realize what a loss would mean to them tonight...then there is no waking up from that!

They must pull out a home win vs Tennessee. Then they'll get their BYE, and then hopefully Jimmy will be healthy in time for the Saints.

There isn't much room for error the rest of the way. It may take 11 wins just to get the second wildcard with the way the rest of the AFC is playing.

Everyone assumes the rest of the AFC is going to continue their winning ways. The Broncos, Pats and Colts are the *only* shoe ins. One moment the Chargers look amazing, then they get blanked by the Dolphins. One moment the Dolphins look absolutely bad, and then they blank the Chargers.

Any Given Sunday.

We'll beat the TItans. And we'll find a way.

RavensNation needs to keep the faith. Doubting the team is for Browns fans.

If we lose against the Titans, our playoff chances will go up in smoke.

We are last in the division we already have no playoff hope. The game against the steelers was must win.

Static...

Are you a Raven? Do you know what they're feeling, or see all the stuff the cameras don't show?

No?

Then you can't say that.

The AFC North is the best division in football.

We're all winning teams. For the most part we've mostly lost to each other. The Ravens split with the Steelers and got swept by the Bengals. The Bengals haven't played the Steelers or the Browns yet. Think about that. The Steelers split with the Browns.

I think it's a safe bet to say the Ravens will sweep the Browns. We're playing very well at home this year. We just need to win out at home, and get at least two more road wins for a 10-6 record. The Chargers are proving to be mediocre, and will not have a good time on the east coast in late November!

Take into account, the Steelers still have to play the Bengals. I expect the Bengals to sweep the Steelers or at the very least, split. That makes the Steelers 3-3 division at the worst case scenario, tied with what will likely be ours. I *do not* see the Browns sweeping the Bengals either, which makes them either 3-3 if they sweep the Bengals, or odds are 2-3.

Worst case scenario, we're third place and don't make the playoffs - but that to me, is if we don't go 10-6 or higher. Remember, we went to the Superbowl with a 10-6 record. We can still do it. The AFC is up for grabs as a whole - we all know the Patriots and Broncos are quite vulnerable in the playoffs lately.

The Ravens control their own destiny. The Steelers have to face the freaking' Chiefs later this year. The Panthers get their claws on the Browns that same week. If the Ravens - and I believe we will do this after we junk the Titans away and have a bye - win out, they're in the dance. Every game is very winnable the rest of the year. Especially since we'll likely have Jimmy Smith back after the bye.

If we lose to the Titans then yes, I believe our year is finished. If we drop any "easy" games - the Titans, the Jaguars, even the Dolphins and Texans I think are statistically quite winnable even though on the road - then yes, we're done.

Wait what?

Bengals 5-2-1

Steelers 6-2

Browns 5-3

Ravens 5-4

Buffalo, KC, Miami, and San Diego each have 5 wins too. After sleeping on it, we still have a shot to make the playoffs and the division. Division and Wild Card is anyone's game. It's not like we are last place and eliminated like the Jaguars and Raiders are.

Last place in the toughest division in football, and last place with a chance to still make the playoffs or win the division. Beat Tennessee and the rest will take care of itself.

Do so!  I said nothing about the "talent" of the two teams.  To me, there are some intangible things that are missing from this team that that other team had and displayed.

Stop kidding ourselves and tank

It's funny how you think the draft is some god-sent remedy to cure all ills.  If it were the Rams and the Browns would be in the playoffs each year

I mean obviously we're talking healthy teams cause that would have to include jimmy on this years team

If I remember tomorrow when I'm off work, I'll quote ya and make a full comparison.

Part of the comparison too is going to include where I think this team can end up by seasons end

@Mili

But yea agreed on the intangibles.. Mainly talking reed and ray here.. Think their reputation especially reed helped more than anything they actually physically accomplished during that run

I'll make the argument again that the Steelers needed the win more then us. Look at it - the Bengals are the monsters. Their reign in the North is just beginning it seems. They'll win the division unless they crap out - regardless of how much they choke in the playoffs, they are definitely the division leaders for the forseeable future.

We already got swept by the Bengals. If we had swept the Steelers, and assuming we sweep the browns, that would have left us with a 4-2 divisional record.

I could EASILY see the Bengals going 4-0 divisional. They won't lose to the Steelers unless they have a meltdown. So, imagine if the Steelers got swept by the Ravens and Bengals. They needed it more. I have more confidence in us beating the Browns at home than I do in the Steelers splitting with the Bengals.

They needed it more, that's the intangible.

Well, that's what I'm talking about...the intangibles!  And that oftentimes goes beyond what they physically did on the field.  What are this teams "intangibles?"

By the stats, Titans have an average offense and below average defense - particularly passing defense. Looks like their passing offense is below average while their running is above, so that evens out.

They're converting 3rd downs at the worst rate in the NFL - ~30%. That is the weak point and that's where we need to capitalize. No long drives, get their offense off the field and give them a balanced attack on offense. If we do that and the OL holds up we're flying - might say this every time, lol, 'contain their pass rush and capitalize on ours', but that really is the key... They're roughly average at both getting and protection from sacks - 23 and 20, respectively.

Those intangibles didn't show up until the playoffs. Right now we're on a 2 game losing so I guess we should crap the season cuz of lack of intangibles. Can't keep riding on the ghosts of Ray and Ed.
