Week 9 - Baltimore Ravens (5-3) at Pittsburgh Steelers (5-3)

3,500 posts in this topic

Seriously though, since pees has been our dc, we've gotten spanked like this multiple times- broncos and pats games last year come to mind- and have blown leads in games we could have won. At what point is enough enough? He's had several seasons, and has just unraveled our defense.

And this isn't even delving into the personnel issue with the secondary

lmao yeah timing plays - we've tried them - they become INTs because our receivers aren't where they're supposed to be.

Thats exactly why i said we need to invest in a receiver that can get open lmao

Sams story every loss

Terrible execution by oline secondary and flacco at times

Team putting itself in situations where refs can affect outcome/drives

Losing discipline in crucial moments

Ugh..

and now they trot out Harrison like he's some kind of hero.

While discussing Peterson and Rice ad nauseum, ignoring Harrison's past,

Puke,,, cough, cough... puke again.

Totally disgusting. No accountability for the media at all.

This totally makes me sick. They wont shut up about ray rice, but this roid head can beat his girlfriend and its ok because he plays for the steelers

Webb is the most overpaid player on our roster

We no longer have the same Webb that earned his present contract.  He earned it though.  I personally can't take that from him.

quick strike work and have been working but we abandon that every game... Face it even when Joe has time he has been off... he hasn't played up to his potential since the Superbowl... our defense is hurt or offense is hurt (well Pitta is hurt)... Pitta can't be the only reason why this team is failing down the stretch...

Exactly!  He shouldn't even be on the field!

But she did, does and always will. Also certain players are infallible and the refs are to blame for every game.

And with cats like me, you and a few others; said "certain" players will get roasted in here when it is warranted.  Lol!

I will call out undue criticism this week forever and a day. Man's been running for his life the entire game. Not one receiver was getting open. When he was running around trying to find something, the receivers are standing around with their thumbs up their butts. The O line was garbage and the one boneheaded INT he was heading down to the ground and the intended receiver just stood there as usual and made NO PLAY for the ball to help out his QB at all.

Those are facts and it is all there to see on tape. Our receiving corps is sub par outside of Smith Sr who is starting to show his age as the season wears on. And that is on Ozzie period for treating offense like a red headed step child at draft time for 3 years running and giving his well paid QB no help.

my comment that you responded to was a blanket statement for games since the Bucs game, since then what you said has not been case for most of the time, this game yes (the interception was more on him than on any receiver, there wasn't one anywhere close, he was going down and was trying to throw it away, that was a bad decision and is on Flacco, the fact that no one was open for him wasn't his fault but the pick was 100% on him - thats a fact and is there for you to see on tape) since the Bucs game he hasn't been good, he hasn't been terrible but mediocre is fair, he's been making bad decision and should probably have more picks than he has. I'm not saying its all on him but he definitely deserve more than a little of the blame with his decisions, the media blames him too much but this board has a nasty habit of going too far the other way. Like i said i am not a Flacco hater, i think he deserved the contract he got, ive never been one to say "bench him" or "its time to move on" but its time to just admit that he has been making bad decisions for a few weeks now, he right where he was last year, trying to force throws and he gets burned on those way more than he completes them. the team loses more than it gains when he does that.

That quick strike offense was when we were running 2 TE sets. We weren't using our useless WRs outside of Smith Sr . We abandoned those when Pitta went down.

It isn't only Pitta either. Daniels isn't 100%. Smith Sr is beginning to show his age. Brown isn't 100% and is hardly playing. 5 of 8 of Joe's INTs are to Torrey - that isn't just coincidence. Jacoby couldn't catch a cold. That is a LOT you're asking Joe Flacco to be the cure for. Especially with the way the O line played.

Losing discipline in crucial moments

And this is why I say the Ravens are what they put on the each and every week Diz.  To me, this Ravens squad is consistent at being inconsistent from week to week.  It's pathetic brah!

He's pressing like he always does when he gets no help and yes, bad things usually happen when he presses. I don't know what you want him to do though - a capable WR isn't going to materialize out of think air. Nor an O line that can be relied upon.

Im done with the pool pic. Although, I cannot take the blame. The players and refs do.

Awww. I still love your pool pics!

LOL, your pool pics were awesome!

Thanks...but into retirement I go. They helped the run in 2012 and I started off something like 4-0 this year, but back to back losses = me doneski.

And the refs did a good job of making that happen beginning with that bogus OPI call to take away our victory against the Bengals to the completely horrid lopsided officiating of tonight's game that kept the Steelers on the field for 2 TD drives when they should have been punting.

Go refs for bringing back the rivalry!

Whatever, bro, to be honest, I saw a couple PI calls missed the other way, holding calls not made on the Ravens OLine…I remember one game where the Steelers were highly penalized and this forum said, "good calls, they deserved it." Its hard to be objective about refs.

Just like certain players seem to take all the blame even if it isn't their fault.   Hmmmmm.

@Mili

Think it's a lot to do with matchups as well... Some teams have the ability to shut down the few offensive choices we have

And no single phase of our team is capable of making up for the mistakes of another

Our secondary weakness negates our dline/LB pass rush ability

Our offense seems to all execute at once and then all fall at once

Beyond frustrating

i don't want him to do anything but make smart decisions and then run the ball, the classic ravens offense. I don't want him to go out and force balls into tiny windows, we know that that doesn't work, at least on a regular basis. For now Forsett is running really well, we obviously need to get a long term back after the season but Forsett is playing really well and LT is as well, that fumble was bad but he's a rookie and they all need time, complete a couple passes adn then run it. thats all i ask for. We've got a nasty habit of abandoning the run game the second we are down and telling Flacco to throw it a ton of times, with no set up its a wonder how the play action hasn't been working.

The days of ground & pound are done unless you want to be an 8-8 team every year. The rules are made for passing. Just the way it is right now. And when your defense isn't getting stops - you don't have time to run the ball down their throats. You have to score.

Ground and pound worked well for the Seahawks.  Besides, what we really need to stay competitive in this league is a backfield that creates turnovers.

Twice in a 13 year span is a fluke not working well.

We don't have that type of defense anymore. That is the ONLY time ground & pound works. With a dominating, suffocating defense. We are on another planet from that place right now.

Im not sure if his one year of solid play earned that contract. I think both Ozzie and Harbs saw the potential he had and offered a big time deal. His speed is obviously isn't where it was and thats a given considering the 2 ACL injuries but his tackling skills have also regressed and he just has no awareness. On that deep ball where he got beat it seemed like he wasn't even trying to look for the ball and slowed down.
