C.J. Mosley Named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month (October)

28 posts in this topic

In the article about it on PFT, it says this:

Mosley has started all eight games of his brief NFL career and has helped the Ravens allow the second fewest points of any team in the league.

Strange considering our secondary issues that we have allowed the second fewest points in the league, guess we all over reacted didn't we?

He also had two interceptions, which leaves him in an unexpected tie with defensive tackle Haloti Ngata for the team lead in interceptions through the first two months of the regular season.

This is also very strange too lol.

Congrats to C.J!

So excited and proud of Mosley.  I knew watching him in college what he was going to be @ NFL level.   "if only we can get him"

DROY and future probowl ILB.

I don't think anyone here actually thought he was a bad player, just not a necessity. What the hell do we know though?

No. The reaction to our porous and depleted secondary is more than warranted.

Well deserved.

Hard to remember he's only just a rookie. It's like he's been roaming the middle for years. ;)

It's actually downright scary that he's just a rookie.... Hopefully we can find the replacement to that other position which was held down at all pro levels for years.

Congats to C.J. you really earned this recognition. Love his style of play and the intensity he brings to the LB. corps. A true Raven all the way!

no, nobody said he would be a bad player. Most just thought other positions were more important. My preference was corner back. Does mosley playing well make me wrong? No

3rd and 12 scares me more than 3rd and 2. I don't get how people can get this open against our secondary. How bad are the guys after Jimmy and Webb? People mention lack of wr depth but the corner situation is abysmal.

Congratz Mosley!  way to represent Ravens!

PS: I'm one of those fans that you are not the right pick for us, and I'm glad to eat the crows.....

Exactly....  We all were just shocked at an ILB pick at the time.

But, hey, like they say Best Player Available - which is of course informed by need but need is not the deciding factor.

Everyone thought we needed a playmaker, specifically RB Lawrence Phillips, in our inaugural 1996 draft but Ozzie went with JO even though we had a solid player at LT. History shows we picked the only (so far... Ray) HOFer out of that class and Phillips is in jail.

I wanted us to draft Calvin Pryor because of our need for a safety, but I'm glad we went with CJ.It's been years since we've drafted a legit star player and we needed to hit on that type playmaker in the worst way.If we can find the CJ Mosley of the safety or wide receiver position in next years draft I'll be elated.

The issue is not the points. The issue is the inability to get off the field in crucial situations as a function of our secondary. All you have to do is spread us out 3-wide and you're going to get a favorable matchup. That's a problem.

Wonder how many people here bought Mosley jerseys after he got his number or will be after he got this award.

Guess like the Colts having 30 some years of success at QB(Manning then Luck) we'll be fortunate to have the same continued success at ILB, Ray then Mosley.

I really wanted him in 2013 but then he returned for his senior year. I didn't expect him after Brown and signing Smith but I'm more than happy to have my favorite ILB of the 2013 & eventually 2014 draft. He's a freak.

Now if he can somehow play CB for us, I think they should start making his bust in Canton.

He was selected to John Clayton Mid Season All Pro Team if that means anything. Him and Yanda made it, which is crazy for me as a rookie.
