Week 9 Discussion Thread

204 posts in this topic

Getting closer and closer to that P word, playoffs. Week 9 is upon us and the lowly NFC South starts the week off in Carolina as the Saints travel to play the Panthers. Someone has to win that division and guess if last week was any indication, the Saints want it more.

Other Games:

Cardinals @ Cowboys: Another surprising game of 2014. Who expected last week's Cardinals/Eagles game to have playoff implications? This may be another that has NFC Playoff implications. Does Romo play or does he not?

Eagles @ Texans: Based upon how the standings look, the loser of this game may think back if they miss the playoffs by one game.

Chargers @ Dolphins: While both teams are still in contention of their division, this could have Wild Card implications at the end of the season.

Broncos @ Patriots: Brady-Manning 1000, Brady-Manning 1000, blah, blah, blah.

Raiders @ Seahawks: Richard Sherman on the cover of Madden and the Seahawks all of a sudden look vulnerable. The Madden curse is alive and well, but will it bring a Seattle Shocker of a Raiders victory?

AFC North:

Browns @ Bucs: Believe it or not, the Bucs considered taking Johnny Football at 7 and well he's still on the bench in Cleveland. Browns look to remain in the AFC North/Wild Card race. The Bucs meanwhile at 1-6 can... still win their division? Blasphemy!

Jaguars @ Bengals: If Mike Glennon can upset the Steelers, then Blake Bortles can upset the Bengals!

Anyone got the Panthers tonight? I do.

I tookem on my picks. Cam.......aro.

I also believe Brady is gonna outdo Manning. Again. Gonna be lots of wind.

If the Jags beat the Bengals then we really better watch our butts against the Titans.

I believe their LT and bot guards are inactive so... No. Another blowout in the making.

Have you driven across the 50 on this drive?

If yes, then you will be turning over the ball shortly.

If no, you will be punting in a few moments.

This game shows how bad the NFC South is. Is this worst than the 2010 NFC West?

Embarrassing the midget brees can do a 4th and 1 qb sneak over the pile and score but they never call that with 6'6" flacco.

We may not have done that during Sunday's game, but we have done a QB sneak a couple of times this season.  In fact, I remember one of the times that we did it (can't remember the game), but the refs declared that it wasn't a TD.  Harbaugh even challenged the play.

Lol, I forgot there was a game tonight. I was watching FSU VS Louisville.

You did good, actually. I was switching between 2 channels, NCAA game was more exciting to watch.

And now with a win in the division and by virtue of being the only team in the division without a losing record, the Saints take control of the NFC South. The first team to seven wins will probably win that division. They're like the exact opposite of the AFC north, where every team has a winning record.

NE to win by 3 or less and final score in the 20's   More D than O for the surprise,  Jags are served as scrape food for the Bengals.  Browns win a nail biter in CLE.  Jets,Raiders lose for sure.

I would not touch Dolphins/Chargers and Card/Cowboys.

As Pete Rose could say "I would not bet on my own team"

Washington is not having a good start to their day - apparently their second team bus ran into the first team bus. Pierre Garcon tweeted this picture with the caption "so this just happened."

The Texans will be without Cushing & Clowney against the Eagles. Clowney is out with an illness, which reports say the Texans are getting frustrated with Clowney. Not sure what's going on but Rapport says they want Clowney to grow up and be more mature.

So happy the Ravens play tonight so I can watch this NE/DEN white out in peace. Can't freaking wait.

Me too, I want to watch the Cardinals/Cowboys game.

An interesting development, the Jets have Geno Smith on the INACTIVE list, Matt Simms will be Michael Vick's backup against the Chiefs.

The Bengals are getting A.J. Green back so I don't think there will be much of a chance for the Jaguars. Their defense is suspect, especially that secondary. Well there is always Thursday Night hoping for a Browns victory against the Bengals.
