We need Rex Ryan back

328 posts in this topic

If Rex Ryan is fired from the jets during the season or after the season, would you want him back? Would the Ravens possibly reach out? If it were me I'd certainly reach out to him back in a heartbeat, we need that organized chaos BACK. Our roster on defense is too talented not to be a top 5, top 3 or the #1 defense in the league. What are your thoughts fellow Ravens fans?

I think Pees and the entire defense is going to have to be a whole, whole, whole, whole, whole lot worse in order for us to consider firing him.

Typically, teams that are second in the league in scoring defense don't fire defensive coordinators...

Ground and Pound

Smash mouth

Smashing pumpkins

Hard nosed

Blitz

Organized chaos

Disorganized chaos

Perhaps we could finish highly enough that pees won't need to be fired. Could get offered a job elsewhere. Just saying DC don't usually last here.

He had no intention of being a head coach. He has said it's not for him

Wow really. Where did u read? Has been a head coach previously at any level that lead him to that decision just curious.

The Jets just gave up 43 points and you want Rex Ryan as DC? If we don't hand the bengals 10 points via gift turnovers we aren't even having this conversation. The defense is why this game was as close as it was. If you want to hate on someone hate on the secondary that made Mohamed Sanu and Greg little look like all pros.

But that's what's funny, the Jets are 11th in total yards vs our 22nd & 20th in passing yards vs our 28th & we have a much better roster in the secondary than they do! Maybe if Pees didn't have our CBs playing soft zone coverage, giving teams WRs 5 to 10 yard cushion every play we'd put ourselves in better position like we give opposing teams receivers too much respect like get physical with them! Jam them up like the Bengals did us on Sunday. Another thing on sunday the Ravens safeties snap count was this... Elam (66), Stewart (55), Brooks (32), Hill (12) and Trawick (5). Two of our worst cover safeties on roster got majority of the snaps, that's absolutely downright horrible! Will hill 12 snaps???? Elam & Stewart who can't cover nor play the ball over 50+ snaps each? That starts with the defensive coordinator & HC not the players! The reason why we were so successful as a defensive unit under rex was because he played to the personnel strengths. Dean pees is too soft & conservative. We're only aggressive against bad teams or when we have a lead.

Rex couldn't do much better with the group we have in the secondary

The jets are 11th in total yards vs our 22nd & 20th in passing yards vs our 28th & we have a much better defense & secondary on paper than they do. I wouldn't even say all of that. Pees is too soft & conservative! Maybe if he didn't have our CBs give opposing teams WRs like a 5 to 10 yard cushion we'd do a lil bit better, I have yet to see our CBs get physical with other teams WRs other than Jimmy. Whenever our receivers have had a bad game, the defense of the opposing team got physical with our WRs. This starts with coaching, you have to play to the personnel strengths. We succeeded under Rex Ryan because of that, we had an aggressive physical roster on defense so he built a game plan on defense that emphasized just that.

You right. The jets literally have a safety starting at cornerback right now and undrafted cornerback but for some reason their secondary is still better than ours.  I find that mind blowing and this is before Jimmy Smith even was injuried.

We don't need Rex, we need better consistancy from Pees and the players.  We have all the players on the defensive side of the ball to be an elite defense.  The players need to do their jobs and the coaches need to put the best players on the field to do so.   Hill w/ only 12 snaps vs the Bengals is disgusting!!

No we don't .We need Jimmy Smith back.

not sure if you noticed but even with Jimmy we were bad as a secondary. We need a better defensive scheme, Jets are 11th in total yards vs our 22nd & 20th in passing yards vs our 28th on defense & we by far have a better defense & secondary than they do. It all has to do with scheme & coaching which is something Rex Ryan exceeds in then the players.

He said it after the Super Bowl, I think. It was in an interview, but he said it's just not the job for him. I don't think he's ever been a head coach.

No he can't but the fact that the Jets have a 7th round pick safety(Antonio Allen) starting on one side & a undrafted player (Darrin Walls) on the other side & basically two strong safeties up top (Calvin Pryor & Dawan Lawdry) is beyond me but STILL have a better yards per game & passing yards per game defense than our defense/secondary & we by far have a better defensive roster than they do so let that sink in for a minute.... What does that tell you? It has to do with defensive scheme & coaching which is why I would want Rex Ryan back.

Hard to say since we don't play the same teams.

The jets have played teams such as the Packers, Bears, Patriots, Chargers, Broncos, Lions & they still have a better defense than us when it comes to total yards per game & passing yards per game. Need I say more?

hmmmm...... How many points have they allowed in those games?

I don't know anything about the Jets secondary, but what I do know is that outside of Jimmy Smith we don't have anyone that is a reliable coverage DB. I don't think Rex could fix that.

The Jets have a 7th round pick safety(Antonio Allen) starting on one side & a undrafted player (Darrin Walls) on the other side & basically two strong safeties up top (Calvin Pryor & Dawan Lawdry) & once again they're still better than us on defense far as total yards & passing yards per game, Rex could definitely fix that. It's all about defensive scheme. I also don't think it's fair to compare how many points they gave up to teams due to the fact they literally have no OFFENSE, they're offense is a disaster waiting to happen. They have a QB who's a turnover machine & no liable running back & only one true WR in decker with no TEs & a average if not below average offensive line. Most of the points they gave up to other teams had to do with the offense tuning over the ball, putting the opposites offense in great field position to score.

Are you guys even aware of what year it is?

This is how low our fanbase has fallen that we are now resorting to full thread discussions about other currently employed HCs and how much better they do with their team than ours.

This is a fan problem, not a Ravens problem.
