Greatest Performances by Quarterbacks in History

18 posts in this topic

I am 23 years old, and I have been watching football since I was a small child.  Yesterday, Ben Roethlisberger had the greatest QB single game performance that I have ever seen.  It was truly a masterpiece.

This leads to my question:  what is the greatest QB performance you all have seen?  Was Ben's performance atop your lists too?  He was the Ben Carson of football yesterday, carving up the Colts defense.

I think it was the 1994 season opener Miami vs New England. Both Marino and Bledsoe dueling back and forth with Marino coming up with the superior day. Marino three for 473 and bledsoe 421. Not as flawless completion % wise but the rules weren't what they are now. It was huge because everyone was writing Marino off after a poor preseason coming off the Achilles injury. It always sticks out on my mind.

The best one I have seen was Brett Favre the day after his father died,500 and 5 TD's was incredible, and the way he played, I mean even those gaudy stats dont do that performance justice.

Cards vs Packers I think in the Wild card round of the 09 playoffs. Rodgers and Warner went off.

Rodgers vs the Falcons too in the 10 playoffs was crazy.

Steve Young in the Superbowl comes to mind. It was just too easy for him.

Just to get a local shot or two for me on here, I'll mention both Vick's game Monday night against the Redskins (possibly greatest fantasy game by a QB ever) and his comeback against the Giants later that year to clinch the division in the Meadowlands (maybe the greatest fourth quarter I've ever seen played, and only Vick could have done it this way). I'll post the latter here for your enjoyment, complete with amazing Reese broadcast and an unbelievable DJax return to top it all off.

I actually like Bret Favre's performance against the Raiders shortly after hearing the news of his dad's death.  It was incredible to see him go out there and toss nearly perfect passes all night.  Awesome!

Peyton Manning's 7 TD thrashing of the Ravens on 9/5/13 was humiliating but impressive.

It was week 1, man.

Nothing is impressive in week 1. Teams aren't football ready, things are still in disorder.

Very forgettable.

Most rediculous thing I've ever seen posted. What NFL team is not ready to play in week 1? They better be. They've had nearly 3 months to get things out of "disorder".

For him I'd say the snow game went he had like twenty TDs in the first half.

If you are talking that damn Tuck Rule Game against the Raiders, that was the biggest bunch of (there is no word I can use that is allowed on this site)! NO WAY that game counts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obviously not. They played poorly that whole game and only won after the worst call in history that is directly responsible for their dynasty and Brady's career.

I was talking about a regular season game during his record year when he threw either 5 or 6 TDs in the first half of a game in the snow.

Sorry, I was not sure which one you were talking about.

Too many Tom Brady games to count.

The game vs the Steelers I think in 07, where the safety called him out. Pre injury Brady to me was a different monster.

I think that was against the Titans.
