He didn't even look for the ball, he just ran into him and put his hands on him.  I guess that's allowed though, right?

Actually, yes, it is. As long as you don't alter their momentum or bar them from catching the ball, you can put your hands on them, and in no way, shape, or form did SSS have his momentum altered...

Thank you for posting this. That's clear as day.

Clear as day that DPI should have been called as well. Or I guess that part is ok?

My issue is not the OPI call, it is the non-call on DPI which is why Smith Sr pushed him off.

Honestly looking at it calm and completely open minded and I cannot any instance where he grabs the jersey or has a hand full of jersey as you put it

Has hands full of jersey right around the NFL shield

We can?  Since when?  The Ravens lost their last game of last season to the Bengals.  The Bengals came to Baltimore on open day of this season and beat the Ravens and now today; in Cinci, the Bengals beat the Ravens...again.  The Ravens are 0-3 in their last 3 contests with the Bengals.  They can't beat them!  For whatever reason...they just can't beat them!  UNTIL the Ravens do beat'em...that is where it stands as of now!

History shows we can beat them. We have beaton them before we can do it again. Just because it hasn't happened recently doesn't mean it can't.

The most frustrating part of this game for me wasn't the PI on Smith but giving up that long throw to Sanu on that last drive. The same story as week 1. On the Bengals final possession where a stop more or less wins the game we give up a bomb. Beyond frustrating.

This defense just isn't clutch. They're frontrunners can only play with a big lead it seems.

That call was correct.  Steve Smith threw the guy to the ground.  Flop or not, its offensive PI.

If the shoe was on the other foot you all would have been saying it was clear PI.

Stop blaming this on the refs.  This loss is on Joe for his horrendous throws, the receivers for not getting open at all during the game, the defense for their horrendous coverage, and the special teams for being a sieve.

You guys sound like Steelers fans sitting around blaming the refs.  Its embarrassing.

I agree with this. This is another embarrassing day for the Ravens, and that's just the fans. See you in the Other NFL Teams section?

And he didn't need to do it, the defender's momentum had him going backwards.

It would have been a contested catch, but I agree, I think Steve pulls that one in.

I'm sure Lebron would love that call

Ginobili would go crazy about it

And vlade divac would probably call it the greatest defending he's ever seen

They are also only 2-2 in the division currently

Which won't matter unless we lose to the Steelers an Browns. Its just week 8. I'm more concerned about our injuries right now.

Please tell me why the Ravens CB's play 10 yards off the receivers on 3rd downs.

Because they're all made of tinfoil.  If they get anywhere near another player, they'll get hurt.

Doesn't look like a clenched fist to me.. Looks like he made contact with open hand

Either way, open or closed hand, it's a clear OPI

I have this nagging suspicion that the Steelers are going to surprise people and take it to the Colts. Then, you can bet they'll be licking their chops at the prospect of leapfrogging Baltimore and being second in the division.

I still believe that this was a game that Baltimore could not afford to lose.

I hope I'm wrong and Cincy bungles the rest of the season away, but they have proven themselves to be capable to winning the division repeatedly.

yeah, the safety was going past the ball and Smitty regardless. thats the sad part. the push, pull or grab wasnt neccessary.

There was no DPI on that

He cannot run into the receiver and not even be looking at the ball. That is considered DPI.

I've seen us called for DPI for way less than that play.

That play is not called on any other team in that situation or it is off setting penalties. BS call.

Especially when a guy can ram Torrey's head with his helmet and no call.

Or pull off Flacco's helmet while he is on the ground and no call.

When Skip says we were robbed - you can bet your bottom dollar it's true.

By rule isn't offensive player allowed to establish contact just not extend arms and push defender?

Franks is brutal. But the safety play overall is still the worst. And that's with 50 of our 53 men being safeties.

If I was a moderator I would delete every comment blaming this loss on the refs. It really makes us look bad to other fan bases.

It's a good thing you're not a moderator :)

That was a clear offensive pass interference on Smitty. Jeez

Flop made it look way worse than it was. Without the flop, no call.

Having said that, don't think you can boil this game down to that one play. Just a series of bad choices by the Ravens all game long.
