Not the same Roethlisberger anymore. :) One great game doesn't suddenly redefine his mediocre play the last few years. If anything, he's more likely to turn into a pumpkin next week than continue anything close to this level of play.

Last few years? Ben set career passing records last season and was pretty darn good over the 6-2 stretch to end the year.

We go into Pitt and beat a red hot Steeler team WITHOUT Jimmy Smith and I will not doubt this team for the rest of the year.

Us not having Jimmy is the same as the Colts not having Vontaze Davis during their game.  Ben's gonna be throwing at Franks all night long

If we play like we played today, there is no way we will beat Pittsburgh. It doesn't matter if it's on a night when they will be retiring Joe Greene's jersey or any other night. Today's game was, in a word, pitiful. BTW, who was the mental genius who had the 15 yard penalty on our scoring drive, which resulted in a short KO and giving the Bengals the ball on a short field late in the game? This is a very

undisciplined team. We will find out against the Steelers whether we are contenders or pretenders.

Vince Lombardi said, "The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have." Quite frankly, we

didn't measure up too well today, did we?

Exactly, we will need all the prayers, karma, ju-ju, etc. to win that track meet.

I don't know but for a flag that 99% of the time is considered incidental contact with 2 guys fighting for the ball - we would have won.

Guess we did stack up alright just fell a bit short.

Ravens Board: "We're 5-3! The sky is falling!"

Steelers Board: "We're 5-3! Superbowl here we come!"

Lol . This is true. However , a loss to the Steelers , imho, would greatly diminish our playoff chances .

As with most of our games, pass-rush is paramount. Both stopping theirs and exploiting ours.

Hopefully Jimmy is okay and Webb is at full strength because Antonio Brown is explosive.

On offense, it's staying balanced and cashing in TDs in the red zone. Limit turnovers, too. On the road, momentum can swing in a snap.

Jimmy Smith's strained foot could actually be an issue for weeks.  Will Hill needs to get all of the starting reps in practice this week.  If this game doesn't register as a Stafe of Emergency for players and coaches alike, then there's no passion or pride w/in the organization.  I don't mind losing when a team puts forth its best effort and your opponent just happens to be better than you.
It's games, like yesterday that frustrate the heck out of me.  A half butt effort almost won that game a full effort would have been a blow out.

The problem with this thinking is... can you name a single time in recent memory where the Ravens lost to a team and fans actually thought that the team that beat us was actually better than us?

We are Ravens fans on a Ravens fan board. The very, very, very first thing that happens every single time we lose to somebody is point fingers internally. Its ALWAYS our fault ("we gave that game away") in 100% of the losses this team takes in every single season all of the time.

No reasonable person, at this very moment, can claim that the Ravens are a better football team than the Bengals. If you actually believe that, then your justification of it is based on a large amount of "ifs" and "buts". If this injury doesn't happen, if this flag wasn't thrown, etc.

They beat us in our building, and they beat us in their building. I don't need any more information than that.

Actually, I can. I can't speak on what other fans think but taking off the purple shades, its not hard to do.  As recently as 3 weeks ago when we lost to Indy, I fealt they were a better team than us.  It does happen, there are some losses than you can accept b/c a better team just played better in all 3 phases of the game.

Well, in BOTH football games that we played Cincinnati, they've basically been better than us at just about every phase of football.

Yesterday in particular, the only thing I could point out where I thought we were better was the run game. They were better on defense, their QB was better, their receivers (sadly) were better, and they were better on ST... and frankly, their coaching was better. They were essentially better than us in every single phase in the first meeting in our building.

So If I were to agree that the Colts appeared to be a better team than us based on the fact that they outplayed us in most phases, then I'd have to say the exact same thing about the Bengals, who have now done that twice.

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl harbor?

The Colts are not that talented on D but they strategy well...they didnt yesterday Pitt took advantage, it happens.

The Bungles have a great line they won the battle up front where most games are decided...

If the Ravens are to beat the Squeels again they gotta whoop 'em up front again ...bottom line

I agree with you pal!  But the Germans did no such thing.  Asides from that everything else you said is legit

5-4 , the season is a wash. Losing 3 division games ruins seasons.

If we don't make the playoffs, nobody here should be surprised, from what I'm reading.

This league is week to week. In no way can you judge an upcoming game based on a game in the past. I definitely didn't see Pitt dropping 50 on a Colts D that shut down Cincinnati. With this being a road game, I see it coming down to the wire. Jimmy or not, they're going to gameplan around Antonio Brown.

I'll make a playoff comment around January when we're in or sitting on our butts at home. Until then, I'm riding the wheels off. We have a good football team. We lost three games by an average of like 5 1/2 points? Twice against a complete Bengals team that could have gone either way and against a premier quarterback in Luck, in another game that we could have won. Just gotta execute! Beat the Steelers/Titans, go to the bye, get healthy and come back out to finish the season.

Go Ravens!

Well, it would probably crush our chances of winning the division, but it certainly doesn't take the playoffs out of the equation.

That would just be another classic overreaction.
