Week 8 - Baltimore Ravens (5-2) at Cincinnati Bengals (3-2-1)

You need to rewatch it... i guess the contact from the defender didnt happen.he didnt even look for the ball. Which occured before smith pushed off. It is a no call in that situation.

Go ahead into the vent thread. Someone posted a gif of it. It's clear OPI

I can understand why some thinks the penalty on Smith Sr was justified. I think it was a bad call, there was no way Smith Sr threw a much bigger man on the groiund like that with barely a tug. If Smith Sr had thrown him on the ground, the jersey of Bengal player would have shown more pull (Stretching more). That was barely a pull and the motion of the Bengal player losing his balance and falling at the same time Smith Sr's arm was simply moving in the same direction. What I don't understand was why there was no review on a touchdown despite a penalty. Watch the Begals player's feet and watch how the jersey was barely pulled, if any. It either was a flop or lost balance. The actions of both players made Smith Sr looked guilty. It was a delusional call by the ref because the play happened too fast for the ref to realized it was not what it looked like. Niether player did anything wrong as both touched each other and were positioning for the ball. I tug my shirt harder than that while itching my chest.

No, the reason runs an offense calls a rub route is to get someone open immediately. Torrey was on the outside and Marlon on the inside. Marlon ran a quick out, and Torrey Ran an In route. The two bengals Corners would have collided, but the corner that was covering Marlon ran through Torrey to cover Marlon. Here is the videohttp://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2014102602/2014/REG8/ravens@bengals#menu=gameinfo|contentId%3A0ap3000000417566&tab=analyze&analyze=boxscore

If it is a rub route, you don't throw where the guys are going to collide, Torrey is essentially blocking the DB from getting to Marlon there, so Marlon is the guy to throw to if it is a rub route, not Torrey. So either it is an incredibly stupid throw or there is something going on.

You may not know exactly where they are going to collide, but you have an idea especially if its man

Still though, Torrey is running the in route there and Marlon is running behind Torrey and is running an out route. It isn't hard to figure out that Torrey was going to draw contact on that play if it is a rub route since Marlon was still behind the LOS when Torrey was getting hit. If they wanted Torrey open there with a rub route, then run Marlon out in front and have Torrey swing behind him. And I don't think it was a rub route anyways. Torrey was trying to run a slant and Marlon was running an underneath route, if they wanted a rub route, they wouldn't have done it like that.

I agree but they got the ball with 5 mins left at their 20, why couldn't our d stop them? How many 3rd downs did they convert? And why?

Our secondary played bad IMHO

The defender and Torrey collided. If it had gone to the slot receiver (not sure who it was, Marlon?) instead of Torrey and it was completed, should it have been OPI? Watch the replay, in no way shape or form did the defender mean to run into Torrey. The defender faced his receiver the whole way and tried to drive on his man. Torrey and he just collided.

Steve should have absolutely been called. I'm sorry, but did you even watch it? He grabbed his jersey and threw him to the ground. It was OPI all the way.

I'll give it the Mosley call was very ticky tack

Yeah if it went to Marlon there, that would have been OPI as it would have been a pick play. When a receiver gets hit like that and it causes them to not be in position to catch the ball, then that is PI. I don't care if the defender is doing it intentionally or not, still PI in my book because if you let that slide, then you open it up to defenders acting like it is unintentional. My point is, if they are going to go ticky tack on the other plays, be consistent with it and they weren't.

It is incidental contact. They ran into each other. It would not have been a call either which way.

I understand the disappointment with the last minute events but is this result really new?  Cincinnati wins during the regular season, Baltimore wins in January.  The bungles may have swept us this year but I still don't think they have what it takes to last beyond Week 1 of the playoffs.  I still have Baltimore coming out with the better season record too.

We lost in the first half. Million-play drives all day for only 6 points. And where is everyone from the last couple weeks saying all we needed was 21 points to win with this defense. 24 points and we lost, and it's all the offense's fault still?

If we don't win next week we can easily fall to 3rd place in the division. Steelers are having a field day against the colts.

Do you agree it was OPI or no?

I feel like both guys were trying to position themselves for the ball , and I feel like it could have been called either way... But shouldn't have been called

Also, a very grim question we must now face is what we do about the pool pics.

I think we need 1/28/01 to edit them, 3 out of 5 of them have been edited(this one and the Panthers one being the ones not edited) and we won all those games(Steelers, Bucs, Falcons) so we have a 3-0 record when they were edited compared to a 1-1 record for when they were not. We can chalk up the win with no edit being Steve Smith going off and the Panthers being bad lol.

Exactly.

It is also my fault for not being very nervous 12 hours before the kickoff.

These Bengals fans sure are happy, but it's wasted happiness because their franchise is worthless and can't win anything worth winning
