Week 8 - Baltimore Ravens (5-2) at Cincinnati Bengals (3-2-1)

2,743 posts in this topic

3 games in a row bengals got a long pass within 3 minutes of play against us . Well i think that one came unexpected . Sorry I know its football. But come on giving their top targets space to work and than blaming the refs on every call. I don't know.

When it comes down to the last play of the game you have to ask what went wrong the las 4 quarters ....

That was a rub route, the ref probably ruled incidentally contact. Really the Ravens called the route to intend to be like that, but Torrey just got bumped because of it.

So the Ravens called the route and Flacco threw there in anticipation of Torrey getting hit and not being there? If it was a rub route, Flacco would never have thrown it to Torrey

We were actually leading them in TOP and Uardage most of game. But they somehow finish with 350

Yeah, the whole 'team didn't show up' is nonsense.  The secondary is simply bad.  That big Sanu catch was absolutely unforgivable.  And off course I think that hometown call was BS, but that's the way the NFL is going to be.  More and more players will be playing like it was basketball, soccer or hockey, and the ability to pretend like you were fouled will be the most important attribute for a player to have.

Torrey got a concussion, inadvertent contact or not, it is still PI. If they weren't going to call that, then the Steve play shouldn't have been called either or the Mosley play.

The defender and Torrey collided. If it had gone to the slot receiver (not sure who it was, Marlon?) instead of Torrey and it was completed, should it have been OPI? Watch the replay, in no way shape or form did the defender mean to run into Torrey. The defender faced his receiver the whole way and tried to drive on his man. Torrey and he just collided.

Steve should have absolutely been called. I'm sorry, but did you even watch it? He grabbed his jersey and threw him to the ground. It was OPI all the way.

I'll give it the Mosley call was very ticky tack

If the shoe was reversed I'd be lamenting the safety for being a soft, overselling jerk. Sr barely touches him and he immediately flops to the ground.

Right. How someone 5'9 195 pounds does that to someone 6'4 220 is beyond me. That's a NFL flop if I've never seen one.

Listened to game on Internet...did not see play. Announcers were beside themselves that he flopped.

Will have to see it myself.

Hate to say it but defense again let other team march down the field. Could not hold lead late against a good team.

Again...did not see game but Dalton is an absolute JOKE and Green not even playing. Dalton basically CHOKES every big game down the stretch EXCEPT against the Ravens.

I agree but they got the ball with 5 mins left at their 20, why couldn't our d stop them? How many 3rd downs did they convert? And why?

no Jimmy, plain and simple, had Jimmy been in there there wouldn't have been those long catches on Franks

Going for it on fourth down at the goal line a-freaking-gain needs to be in there somewhere.

Yeah although the fact that the defense couldn't stop anyone in short yardage hurt too.

i call bs that was a flop if i ever seen one. Not to mention they were hand fighting. No room for ticky tack calls that decide games. If anything its dpi... he never looked for the football. Howany times have we heard that.

The first interception was ugly, but Flacco put them in the position to win that game. Steve Smith is the one who got the flag and put them in the position to have to convert 20 yards.

The defense w/ the two turnovers put them in position to win the game.

Agreed; they need to do better. And having seen them get gashed like that from the get go, the offense should have taken those points instead of trusting the defense.

It's the D folks! There comes a time in every game when the D must get a stop for the win and our D can't do it! Stop getting all excited about our D in blowout wins, they are an average D. All those stats ranking them wherever don't mean anything. The stat that matters is not allowing the game winning drive.

Not time to freak out yet. This game was never going to be a sure win. I don't care if they dropped 3 straight, the Bengals are the reigning champs until *we* or someone else secures it.

We win against the Steelers, we'll be motivated, we know the stakes. I don't doubt that the Colts will be the ones taking care of business. We beat the Titans. Bye week? Bengals to New Orleans, and while they may be horrible this year, I think they'll be the one NFC South Team that stands a chance against the AFC North - well, everyone but the Browns at least. I think Bengals take at least one more loss on the nose, and we'll take the number 1 spot again. Patience.

Who cares if he flops? Even if he didn't it'd be OPI because you cannot grab the defender around the pads and push them off. Okay, he doesn't fall, but he's certainly pushed back. It's OPI.

The defense w/ the two turnovers put them in position to win the game.

the defense did everything they could to win the game down our best CB, two turnovers at the end of the game and the offense couldn't seal it and run out the clock. Sure the defense couldn't stop them but you can't just brush off the fact that Jimmy was down and Jernigan went down again. Just like in the Colts game, the defense put us in a position to win and the offense just couldn't seal it. with the way the offense played today we were lucky to have a shot to win it

How about our oline getting overwhelmed again on that lst drive.

Its bad i know , but its easy when your only have to defend a deep ball and they send four guys we are normally sending 3 thats the difference

the first game against the Bengals they held their offense to no touchdowns until a lucky play at the end

at the end of the colts game the D got a big turnover

today in the 4th quarter the D got two turnovers

its fun to pick and choose a scapegoat but the defense isn't the one to blame today, down our best CB they turned it on in the 4th and forced big turnovers and the offense couldn't seal the deal. Loss is on the offense

It's a team game.  You could say Flacco put them in a position to win, you could say the defence put them in a position to win.  You could just as easily say that Flacco's turnovers or the inability of any defensive back on the team to not play badly lost them the game.

You need to rewatch it... i guess the contact from the defender didnt happen.he didnt even look for the ball. Which occured before smith pushed off. It is a no call in that situation.

No, the reason runs an offense calls a rub route is to get someone open immediately. Torrey was on the outside and Marlon on the inside. Marlon ran a quick out, and Torrey Ran an In route. The two bengals Corners would have collided, but the corner that was covering Marlon ran through Torrey to cover Marlon. Here is the videohttp://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2014102602/2014/REG8/ravens@bengals#menu=gameinfo|contentId%3A0ap3000000417566&tab=analyze&analyze=boxscore

Can anybody say defensive flop... that costs us the win...

offensive flop, D got two big turnovers in the 4th and the O couldn't run out any time on the second one. They did the best they could down their best defender. They were the reason we were even in the game

Yeah Cincy has a good O-line so I knew it would be tougher today, they are a good team. People want to say the Ravens played badly and they did at points but Atlanta and Tampa are awful. This game was never going to be like that, it was going to be tough. The Ravens certainly could have been better but they did respond as well and it was close. Sadly when games are close, it comes down to little things which means that when you come out on the wrong end of it, it is even more frustrating.

Can someone please explain to me why we resort to the prevent defense/zone defense when we are in the lead in the 4th quarter?     There's 3-4 guys on the line which means everyone else should be downfield to cover the WRs.  Except, it doesn't work.  The opposing QB always makes successful passes against us and we end up  blowing the game.   Why did we not rush and blitz dalton more when we had the lead??

And don't even get me started not the dirty refs.  I wonder how much is cost the bengals to pay them off??
