Week 8 Discussion (Other Teams)

423 posts in this topic

At the end of this week, we will officially be halfway through the 2014 NFL Season. With the trade deadline on Tuesday, you have to wonder what kind of deals will be made now that Percy Harvin has been traded to the Jets, and the Patriots have acquired Akeem Ayers from the Titans.

On to the games.

Chargers @ Broncos: As Peyton Manning looks to make the all time TD record unbreakable, the Chargers look to bounce back in order to help their division chances.

Seahawks @ Panthers: The Hawks have more than a crack in their shield, but get lucky facing a 3-3-1 Panthers team who is struggling. Funny seeing people ask what's wrong with the Seahawks, may people forget about a certain game and curse? Sherman on the cover of Madden 15, cursed the secondary and team that all of a sudden looks vulnerable? I think so.

Texans @ Titans: The Texans have lost three in a row and look to get back on track with a favorable matchup against the Titans.

Eagles @ Cardinals: The Eagles are coming off a bye but in what could determine the final seedings in the NFC, this H2H matchup of the birds will go a long way toward determining the NFC playoff field.

Packers @ Saints: This looked to be a good game until the Saints and the rest of the NFC South decided to suck this year.

Lions @ Falcons: Correction, due to the time difference this game will kick off at 9:30a.m on Sunday on FOX. So not sure who will be up to watch it but look for the Lions to keep rolling.

Redskins @ Cowboys: People want to discredit the Cowboys 6-1 record because of their opponents records, and this may be another game to discredit. Unless Colt McCoy pulls off a stunning upset.

Some solid games this week.

Colts @ Steelers is another one - part of the Steelers' three-game home stretch (sigh). I'd obviously prefer to see the Colts win, but this could be win-win for us as a Steelers win would weaken their draft pick help us out if we're looking for a playoff bye near the end of the season.

Chargers are good enough, but I think they'll start to unravel before the end of the season and, like us, this game could be one of those ones that makes or breaks their season. On a Sunday I'd probably back them to pull off the upset, but Thursday games tend to see the better team win fairly handily.

Saints vs Packers wins this week's award for "matches that looked great in the preseason but now shape up to be a colossal disappointment".

I feel that the Chargers will win this game

I thought about changing my pick to San Diego but Denver is riding high after Manning got the TD record last week.

+35

I honestly think I'd rather see the Bengals (lol), Patriots or 49ers win.

Good to see the Chargers defence holding though. I'd love to see the Broncos hit a roadblock in the playoffs.

Can almost guarantee that Keenan Allen goes off tonight, since he's sitting on my bench in FF.

6 catches for 45 yards right now

And now a touchdown.  I'm sorry

I hate Fantasy Football.

I benched him too - we need to start a support group for owners of the guy.

One guarantee when I play FF is whoever I bench will have a dominant week.

Had Sammy Watkins on the bench last weekend when he decided to put 25 points up on the board.  I mean, really?  You play for the freaking Bills.  Now I'm playing him this week he's probably going to trip over his shoelaces in the first quarter and sit out the rest of the game lol.

Ouch!

I like San Diego in this game. They seem to always be mannings Achilles heal going back to Indy.

How much more proof we need officiating is horrible?

I don't think that call was as clear cut as they are saying.

It's too easy to bash the officials in any sport. They do a tough job and only ever get noticed for their mistakes.

It was really close - but the ball was definitely moving before his arm went down.  Whether or not the ball starting to move is considered him losing possession, I'm not entirely sure.

I watched IND-CIN game yesterday and the explanation of the strip fumble was that it's a fumble if the knee or elbow is NOT on the ground before the strip starts. This was a clear fumble, then.

I'm definitely going to Taco Bell during halftime to help me get over the 3 TDs Keenan Allen is about to catch.

At least you didn't bench Emmanuel Sanders
