Doug Martin? Forsett is a stop gap at best and Taliaferro isn't anything sepecial. He'd be the perfect Ray Rice Replacemnt.

No and LT is special.

I don't think we are trying to replace Ray Rice...

What are you talking about giving up for him?

Couldn't be much given his struggles this year and the devalue of the position, but I'd rather wait and grab someone special from the draft. And just so people know, the Bucs are open to trading him

Not much. More something to just kick the tires on and see if a decent line can help him regain form.

Wouldn't that be the kind of thing you do in the preseason/training camp?

Don't you think week 9 for a 5-3 football team isn't exactly the ideal time to be kicking the tires on a player at a position that is a STRENGTH for us?

1. It is not a strength for us. It is a strength for us right now. There is a difference. Forsett is not built to be a feature back. His injury history shows it. Taliaferro is not a difference maker, but he is serviceable. Neither are the answer for the long term hence our current RBBC

2. Martin at his best is a serious difference maker that could give the team what it would have if we had Rice ( and having Rice probably wins us 2/3 of the games we lost.)

Its likely a relatively low risk investment for a very high reward. If Martin costs us a 5th rounder or less, it is worth making the trade imo because

1. Martin is super high upside player

2. The investment is low

3. It benefits the long term health of our franchise

1. I'm not nearly as sold on Martin as a special talent as you are, and clearly the Bucs aren't either. In fact, practically the only reason I see for them to want to dump him is based mostly on how poorly he's played and how injury prone he seems to be.

2. Forsett isn't the long-term answer obviously, but then I doubt Martin is either. Forsett is certainly trustworthy enough to get us through this season, and that's all we can ask for.

3. We have no idea how Martin would perform in our ZBS, and I'm also not convinced we care much who the RB is, so I doubt we are going to give up draft picks for a guy we can get in the draft ourselves. Even Pierce is running for almost 4 yards a clip in this scheme, so I don't think the team cares one bit who the RB is, nor are they interested in making this anything more than a RBBC. I think the days of us looking for a Ray Rice-level player are over.

Hasn't martin missed games last year and this year ? Not the picture of durability

He missed most of last year after underwhelming in the games he did play (speaking as his owner in fantasy last year) and he's missed a few this year from memory.

Of all the trades to possibly make, that's probably the last I'd want to see us do.

X2

If ravens aren't trading for we, te, or cb then a trade shouldn't happen

Well finding someone just got more complicated. Thanks to Rice's grievance the NFL has filed a cap charge of over a million. Schefter says this is typical protocol when a player files a grievance.

Well then... So what corner will play for dirt cheap?

1. Martin does have ability but the last 2 seasons have been bad due to an injury last year (common at the position), and one of the worst offensive lines in the league (which almost no rb is immune to)

2. Fair but ultimately irrelevant point.

3. This is the only reason you wouldn't trade for him is if you felt that he couldn't perform in the ZBS. However, we tried to fit a square peg into a round hole with Rice if you remember.

I'm not saying that we have to go make this trade, but Martin isn't some over the hill back. He is young, and has a skill set that translates into production and it may be beneficial to poke around and potentially see if we can pick up a quality football player for a relatively low investment.

Corners are at a premium in the nfl. We wont be trading for one.

I'd even be opposed to bringing in a WR this year. I think our need (like pass rusher) is more of a futures thing.

Secondary is suspect after all the injuries. Would love see a CB signing. But who is really out there? If they were good, they wouldnt be UFA

We still have 4 million cap space left and that's enough space to sign a cornerback

Neither of which makes our football team better (and Claiborne is on IR).

unless its a player for player swap where the other team can afford to give up a CB, there won't be any trades happening.

I still am unsure why Franks was brought in and Cox didn't stick with the team.

If there is anything we learned from Washington vs Dallas game yesterday was young corners can play.

Amerson is a 2nd round pick from 2013 and Breeland a 4th round pick this year, completely shut down dez bryant.
