Trade Deadline Approaching

128 posts in this topic

It's a shame we have troll-fans. Did you jump on the Baltimore bandwagon when your pathetic Steelers declined to their current state?

What? It was a sarcastic post responding to this stupid thread. I am no steeler fan my post count should confirm that.

People are being really dumb about this thread. It's not saying Jermaine Gresham should be the biggest trade target. It's simply saying that's who the author would target. This thread is for everyone to write in who or what they'd want at the trade deadline, not just talk about Gresham.

Even more reason why a trade isn't likely.  We only have 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and two 7ths.  One of those 7ths is tied up with the potential Rolando McClain swap of picks as well.  Only 5 tradable picks and most way too high to move.

and The Bryant McKinnie Trade Is A 6th Round Pick

Frankly, I blame this on the mods. Everybody knew EXACTLY where this thread was headed the moment they read the title of it.

When people have no filter, and intelligence and reasonableness is completely optional, topics like this are born.

We all know a thread like this only leads to the "we should trade for Aaron Rodgers"-esque topics and the bashing posts that immediately follow.

There's really no reason for a thread like this to exist.

We already have a "We Need Another Receiver Thread" which this should have been merged with, and if it was, I'm sure this thread would have been a little more reasonable.

And for the record... I'm not even bashing the Gresham idea, because its not unreasonable to think the Bengals would trade him. Its somewhat unreasonable to think that they would trade him to a division rival, but that's a different story.

My bashing comes from the entire idea that threads can be created with the sole purpose of giving people free reign to literally be about as unreasonable as they can possibly be. This thread, if it gained a lot of traffic, would inevitably turn into a thread filled with posters trying to make trades that only happen in Madden and maybe in fantasy leagues.

Basically, the word Fantasy should be in big bold letters on this thread as a warning to people who wish to read it.

For the record: when we merge threads, the software puts all the posts in time order. We have no control over that. We we can't jump on a merge right away, it becomes really confusing when we do it.

Also, if you don't like a thread or consider it "stupid", you are allowed to ignore it.

okay so tahts 3 7th round picks

Only 2. Our original 7th and the one for McKinnie. One of those picks could be gone in the McClain swap, though.

This comes up every year and Ozzy almost never actually makes a move, no real reason to get your hopes up. Mid season acquisitions in my opinion aren't very smart. That player then has to learn the system so they won't be very useful for a while. Also generally i think the price as it were goes up if you try to make a move during the season as opposed to the offseason. Other than making a trade to acquire picks i am generally against mid season moves unless there is a devastating injury or something along those lines and we have no one to replace them, which isn't really the case for this team right now; yeah Pitta is down but Daniels is doing a more than admirable job filling that void, acquiring a starting calibre TE isn't a must right now and would probably cost us more than i for one would be happy about, and i don't think an in-division team would trade with us just like i wouldn't want to trade with them, those are the last teams you want to potentially give an advantage in any particular position or draft

Considering the big trade deadline move last year was Isaac Sopoaga, I agree.

Harvin and Monroe are big exceptions to mid-season trades.

yeah, i actually completely forgot that Monroe was a mid season move. That was a classic Ozzy steal, and although im generally against mid season trades that was a steal and if an option comes available like that i think i would pull the trigger no regrets but that doesn't particularly happen often if at all. That really falls under the "don't get your hopes up" catagory, that kind of steal just doesn't happen and how Ozzy pulled that off, i have no idea, that was a bit of unexpected wizardry on his part, not that thats uncommon or anything

Maybe Denver will fax us Julius Thomas.

Julius Thomas looks great because he has Peyton throwing him the ball. He is too unreliable with his hands and too inconsistent with his route running. I still remember Peyton yelling "[profanity] Julius" in the huddle last year after he ran a wrong route lol. Incredible athlete, average football player.

There was a topic up last night to trade Steve Smith away that got merged with this one without warning, so that's what those posts are responding to.

Yeah that was a good laugh lol, like the Bills would give us Watkins for SS lol

As for Gresham, I don't think the Bengals pull that trade within the division but it may happen.

I am not counting on any trades from us before the deadline but we will see asI am sure we are kicking the tires around on it.

What? It was a sarcastic post responding to this stupid thread. I am no steeler fan my post count should confirm that.

Sarcasm may be a little lost on the internet but I'm naively optimistic that most of the hate was in relation to the merge.

People are being really dumb about this thread. It's not saying Jermaine Gresham should be the biggest trade target. It's simply saying that's who the author would target. This thread is for everyone to write in who or what they'd want at the trade deadline, not just talk about Gresham.

THANK YOU.

I could have mentioned the unlikelihood intra-division trades but apparently that doesn't go without saying :(.

oopd. Only just saw the merged thread. Sorry

All good. :)

There's really no reason for a thread like this to exist.

Well excluding the fact that I certainly didn't mention a completely BS trade...I was hoping if there was something anyone knew about what we were doing (see edthehead's post below) we'd pool information here. I think an open and reasonable discussion about the trade deadline is perhaps one of the only non-game related topics there is at the moment. We don't have to see eye-to-eye but it's pretty clear that a number of people who have posted here aren't suggesting "Madden trades".

I mentioned tight end and someone that instantly came to mind as a widely speculated trade target is Gresham. With Pitta out for the season and Daniels' injury history, one year contract and age, Gresham potentially has something to the table.

Furthermore, Ozzie makes trades. Obviously it's not likely he does so this week but the chance is still there and cannot be ruled out. Despite his injury, Monroe is paying off pretty big for us.

I appreciate your input.

Itd be pretty sweet If we could get vjax. Dudes huge

Not sure if trolling?

36.6mil over the net three years doesn't work for us. However, on the basis that simply he's huge, yes, he would be of benefit. Hoping for Strong or Greenberry next year.

We already have a "We Need Another Receiver Thread" which this should have been merged with, and if it was, I'm sure this thread would have been a little more reasonable.

Perhaps. I think an option for acquiring another receiver is indeed trading however this thread is in regards to the trade deadline and pooling information from other sources that some people might not know about or have access. For example, we could still improve corner depth.

And for the record... I'm not even bashing the Gresham idea, because its not unreasonable to think the Bengals would trade him. Its somewhat unreasonable to think that they would trade him to a division rival, but that's a different story.

I'm naively optimistic. I honestly thought that went without saying but I've learnt my lesson.

Certainly not my intention as I thought I said "Thought I'd start a thread to pool news/rumors/wishes about potential trades for the Ravens and league in general".

Maybe the use of the word "wishes" was a little dangerous, but "pool news" and "potential" was in hopes of ceasing any foolish talk and simply providing information on what was out there.

I don't believe Gresham constitutes as a BS madden trade as he's a fringe top 15 tight end.

Monroe went alright.

For the record, Gresham could potentially be on the open FA market and I want to snap him up before he goes elsewhere because I don't think we'd pay him as much as someone else (Buffalo for example). I believe it is a need as Pitta and Daniels (the latter of which is on a 1 year deal as is 33 next year) are both injury prone, if you disagree I'll just point to Pitta being on IR and Daniels once again having knee issues. This is for the future not a win-now acquisition.

I'm really regretting not mentioning the unlikelihood with the intra-division trade but it's done now.

we may not make a trade for anybody but maybe we trade away a body,I really think A.Brown may leave,,,,they were just talking about it on nfl insiders, (I know its the talking media heads) adam schefter keeps good info,,

I'd be somewhat saddened, although I always considered him a poor scheme fit. Thank you for actually positing information as intended. Did they give any particular reason why or was just a simple name drop. I get that he's not starting and struggling to pick up the defense, but anything else?

Julius Thomas looks great because he has Peyton throwing him the ball. He is too unreliable with his hands and too inconsistent with his route running. Agreed. His football production is inflated by good QB play.

Haha, love it.

I don't post much at all, generally observe and gauge the opinion of fans. I thought maybe somewhere out there is someone who has a similar interest in personnel as me and with better resources given I'm on another continent.

One day.

Okay, so just an update I just saw, but the Bucs are not looking to trade VJax, and it would likely take a second round pick. Seattle may not be explicitly looking to trade Lynch, but no one, including Lynch, thinks he'll be back in 2015. Brandon Graham's future in Philly is murky. Doug Martin could be on the trade block

We need moves RIGHT NOW.

We have ZERO talent at the skill positions and its horrifying how  bad we are. Zero corners who can cover. Steve Smith as our #1 is pathetic, Torrey has gone full Danny Phantom.

Camp the only guy making catches is hurt and even Aiken is disappointing.
