Trade Deadline Approaching

128 posts in this topic

Thought I'd start a thread to pool news/rumors about potential trades for the Ravens and league in general.

I personally wouldn't mind having a crack at Jermaine Gresham, give up a third day pick and if he proves himself sign him for 3-5 years after the season. Don't get me wrong, I like Daniels, but I don't think his best matches Gresham's best and considering age. Tight end is also a draft day need and I wound't be surprised if Pitta retires. Obviously unlikely as it would be an intra-division trade.

Could also do with another corner despite Webb starting to regain some level of form. Our depth scares me to no end. However, I'm unsure who really is out there for trade.

Think it would be difficult to convince Cincy to trade within their own division. I think the price for Gresham to an inter-divisional team would be steeper than a non-divisional team.

I'm not expecting that to happen.

Why would the Bengals trade Gresham?  Eifert is currently on IR-DTR and their backup options would be Ryan Hewitt and Kevin Brock.  They'll keep Gresham.

When in doubt, create 2 threads for it!

NFL Network floated his name out as a potential trade target. The Bengals really don't like him, and he's not likely to be around with them much longer.

They wouldn't get anything worthwhile for him, so might as well keep him, especially when their other TE is coming off of that nasty elbow injury.

He's a FA after this season.. I really don't see him getting traded and no reason for us to go after him at all

Maybe if he were in a different division. Though even then, we're already down a 5th and a 6th so I can't see us gutting too much of our mid- to late-round picks for an impending FA.

Even more reason why a trade isn't likely.  We only have 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and two 7ths.  One of those 7ths is tied up with the potential Rolando McClain swap of picks as well.  Only 5 tradable picks and most way too high to move.

Isn't that 7th in the Dallas trade on track to be upgraded to a 6th?

Either way though, the point remains that we don't have the picks to do anything grand. If we get involved with a trade before the deadline, I'd expect it to be as a seller.

We get a 6th for Rolando but we send a 7th to dallas and it's likely we get 3 or 4 comp. picks. Im guessing two 4ths, a 5th and 7th.

Ozzie will make a move if he wants to because of those comp. picks. Don't know about Gresham tho

Yeah, so I'm honestly not sure if we're allowed to trade that being that it could possibly be involved in that deal.

3 comps this year, most likely.  Jones, Oher, and Graham.  Ihedigbo and Stewart cancel each other out and no one else got a deal large enough to even be in consideration.

Gresham is one of the top candidates to be traded. I don't think it will happen before this game but if they're not getting much production out of him (as evident past two seasons), not to mention the FO are apparently disgruntled with him, and he's a FA after this season, thus there's positives in trading him for the Bengals. Look out for the coaches being confident with Eifert.

Don't necessarily have to send them a pick either...not that we have trade-able players. Marlon Brown and a 7th? They're also hurting at linebacker.

Based on game play so far...I think at best we get a pair of 4ths.

I'd rather not trade for Gresham. It wouldn't be terrible, since the TE draft class is a bit lackluster, but I'd rather roll with what we have and take our chances there. I think Gillmore can be a good player with enough experience and he's gaining that. Inter-divisional trades are exceptionally rare.

Smitty has been on fire starting this season so you might ask why trade him? Because he won't last that long!!!! His targets have been declining the last 2-3 weeks and he won't last this long with his age. I am trying to trade him now in FF, but anyways we should trade him and sell high on him. We should trade him for Sammy Watkins from the bills. good trade for us

There's a couple of tight ends who would be upgrades but neither of which I think will be available with our second round pick.

Oz might be accused of actually being a wizard if he pulled off that trade.

He's already one of (if not) the best GMs in the league.

You just wasted 15 seconds of my life with this drivel.

How's it "drivel"? A topic regarding speculation and desires is subject to the opinion of fans wanting to discuss it. You wasted extra time writing your post and now I'm wasting more of your time since you'll be reading this. Game over troll.

terrible topic...

How? The deadline is approaching, it's the only non-game related topic worthy of speculative discussion and we potentially could be in the market as per years past when it comes to trades (Evans and Wilson, although much sooner than the deadline).

We should've also traded flacco away after the Buccaners game too!

It's a shame we have troll-fans. Did you jump on the Baltimore bandwagon when your pathetic Steelers declined to their current state.

Waste of my reading time...geez

But not a waste of time making your pointless post? I am further wasting your time by you reading my response :). You lose.

Call Ozzie. Tell him your idea.

I am sure he will appreciate it.

What idea? I posted a speculative opinion not something we desperately need to do as I want Heuerman. Did you read the original post or did the urge to be a troll was too great to actually use your brain.

That concludes my effortless responses, should anyone actually have anything even remotely close to the abundantly clear topic to discuss, make a response :)

There was a topic up last night to trade Steve Smith away that got merged with this one without warning, so that's what those posts are responding to.

Wow.

Nice job keeping it classy.

Some one started a thread about trading Steve Smith Sr.

That is where my comment was directed. That thread was merged hence confusion ensued.

It seems the mods could have done a cleaner job with the merge.

You're the real MVP. Thanks. I was like, why are people blowing up.

Both Daniels and Pitta are better than Gresham.

Just a matter of differing opinions. From what I've seen, I think Gresham has a bigger target zone, displays slightly more speed, has more strength BUT he doesn't display the drive that Daniels and Pitta display. Age is also on Gresham's side. Owen will be 33 next year and Dennis 30 compared to 27. Not to mention Dennis is on IR and I believe there's a slightly greater than 50% chance he retires (so obviously I believe there's a chance he might not).

You know me. I was just shocked at how much flame I copped for creating a post discussing the trade deadline, honestly there's nothing else going on in terms of massive personnel changes going on. I appreciate the fact you didn't respond in kind and I apologise for calling you a troll.
