Are we the best team in the league right now?

But until recently you were only posting in the blogs. No one pays much attention to what gets posted over there.

That's because you guys were having weeks worth of issues posting on the actual articles, so I had to move over to this discussion section.

I believe it was one of the mods that even pointed me in that direction...

That part is true about anyone who has ever talked about sports. Your opinion shapes the judgement of players/teams. It's a discussion forum, people are allowed to bring their own opinions into the discussion.

The theories, fantasy stuff, yes sometimes it goes overboard but those are just more opinions and perspectives. Just another layer.

Of course they are, and I have no control over somebodies ability to post their own opinions. What I can do, however, as part of a discussion forum, is disagree with and point out the flaws in those opinions. Doesn't change the fact that they can still have one.

My point is... its taken people time to realize that the overwhelming majority of what I post would be classified as "obvious" and "common sense", as even the poster above pointed out and numerous others have as well.

If that's the case, then it would appear that since some people seem to share different opinions than I do, wouldn't that classify their opinions as "non-obvious" and "non-common sensical"?

Certainly doesn't apply to everyone, but there's no shortage of that on these boards.

To some, sure, but I'm not here to stifle discussion. If we all agreed, it be very boring.

My point exactly. I think some people just like coming in here, saying something that makes them feel better about themselves (generally in the form of bashing another player), and then using the old "i'm allowed to have an opinion" line when somebody says something that is of difference opinions to them.

Its a discussion forum. The key word being "discussion". A discussion generally occurs between two or more people, and in many cases, its over different points of view.

I 100% agree that if everybody came in here, said the same thing, and agreed about 100% of what is being said, these message boards wouldn't last another six months. They'd be shut down due to the inevitable decline in traffic. Discussion, an in particular, debate/disagreements in opinion, are what has and always will drive message boards.

I think the Colts are in this discussion based on what I've seen recently. Plenty of talent offensively (though maybe a little limited on the OL), and their defense is very good, despite not having the household names that the Broncos have.

They are playing really well and since I am probably the one Ravens fan that hates the Colts more than the Steelers, I am not really happy about it. Again, it is the deep grudge I have against the Irsay family. This Sunday is kind of a win-win for me, because with the Colts are playing the Steelers, I am guaranteed to be happy that one of those two stinking teams will have a loss.

I agree with that. I really enjoy talking with people about Ravens football and I often learn things that I did not know or did not consider. Sometimes I even changed my mind or softened my position based on reading a different opinion. I think as long as we treat each other with respect that is all that matters in the end. There is certainly nothing wrong with people agreeing to disagree. I think that is why I enjoy this website so much, because the majority of people understand that and are really pretty cool. I especially enjoy those game day threads because I feel that when we are winning I can celebrate it with so many people and when we a losing I feel like I am not alone in my suffering.

I do think they will struggle against higher end offenses in the playoffs, because I think they are overall pretty average from a personnel standpoint on defense.

Luck and his skills can also mask some of the glaring weaknesses they have on the OL.

As Jules Winnfield said in Pulp Fiction, "I am trying real hard to be the Sheppard." God willing maybe one day soon :)

This thread needs to stay. To remind us that we should NEVER get our hopes up and believe that this team is great. Because thats when, thats the perfect moment to pull the choke artists garbage that we know and love.

Wy is this topic not closed?? I will answer...No. Our secondary still cant cover, glad we arent playing Peyton or Brady, our coach continues to piss away points on the road by not kicking a field goal on 4th and goal.....our QB would prefer to throw deep downfueld on 3rd downs than to try and move the chains....dint get me started.....

proved we are nowhere near the best team today.

in all fairness though, if jimmy is in, that game doesnt turn out the same way, guarantee that bomb to sanu doesnt happen in the 4th and that play proved to be the first nail in our coffin.

If we're being honest, the Ravens have never really enjoyed dominant regular season success under Harbaugh. It's always been a rollercoaster ride.

I suspect the Ravens will go on to string together a couple more 3-win streaks to get everyone back on the "best team in the league" bandwagon, only to deflate that notion with a bad loss or two before the regular season ends.

This...

Ravens will never be a dominate team under this FO. Thats just not who we are. We find ways to win, sure. We have some talent, sure. But we'll never be the number one seed, Ravens fans just need to accept that.

I don't even care about being a #1 seed or the #1 team.  As long as we win that's all that matters.

The interesting point to go along with this is longevity.

Teams that dominate only do so for so long.

I am beginning to see some signs, no matter how much I hate to think of it as we are just 2 games over .500 since SB 47. Last year, the FO may have called it "reloading" but it smelled of rebuilding, and this year after the Rice fiasco and re-injury to Pitta and IF we miss the playoffs we just may be. :eyes:

Nope, probably Denver right now

It'll be real interesting to see them go up against New England next week. Patriots getting hot.

Chicago has no real defense but I agree, that should be a really interesting game. I give Denver the slight edge but it is close
