Are we the best team in the league right now?

177 posts in this topic

LOL Cowboys beat the Seahawks (who by the way just lost to the Rams who had a back up QB) and now they are one of the best teams? Pleaaaseee, if we havent played anyone worth while, THEY havent played anyone worth while.

Are you serious?

No, we're not.  There is no best team in the league.  There never is.  In 2007 the Patty Cakes were undefeated until they got beat in the Super Bowl.  We're looking good.  We've been one of the most balanced teams in the league for a few years now, hence our continued success in getting to the playoffs.  Other than that?  No.

How bout dem Cowboys? lol He says as Denver scores its 42nd point.

Is this a Power Ranking Survey....Who's Best This Week?

To coin a phrase...you are who your record says you are.

Let's revisit this question again in 6 weeks, but for now.....

Go Ravens

Two different ways to look at it..

Who's hot now and who looks like a playoff caliber team

Ravens will make some noise come playoff time as long as that oline and dline are healthy and performing like they have been

Best point differential in the league, so an argument can surely be made. Why not? I definitely feel we are top 3 in the conference, and we are destroying every NFC Team we play (though those teams we've played aren't the best that conference has to offer).

ok the general consensus seems to be overreacting or too early to tell.

regardless of who we have beaten, we are showing signs of a serious contender, because we do the things that matter better than most teams, nobody is as balanced as us, any part of our team can light you up on any given sunday, and between our run game, our tight end package, our explosiveness on offense, our pass rush, our run defense, and our playmaking LB corps, something WILL show up and do damage, and when we arent laying the egg that were due to lay every 4 to 5 weeks, and our whole team shows up, i dont see anyone that can stop everything that we can throw at one team, there is no one player you gameplan around, if you make the mistake of building your gameplan around stopping one guy, then you are going to get eaten alive elsewhere.

joe has never had this talented of an offense, and he has never had a legitimate OC and the differences between cam/caldwell and kubiak are obvious, with joes proven playoff success and such a well rounded team, we are going to make some serious noise come playoff time, mark my words, barring any major injury(multiple starting OL down for the year, smitty down for the year, forsett or taliaferro, or a heavily injury plagued defense, you get the picture) then we will make it to the AFC championship, you heard it here first.

I was writing up a post that said something similar, but I see you've beaten me to it. Put our record to a fully neutral fan and they'd agree we look good but probably have a good laugh at calling us the best. And I remember how we felt for doing the same thing to the Broncos and Patriots over the past couple of years.

But there's still a lot to be excited about. Beating the Bengals would go a long way to setting up our credentials.

I know it's early, but during the pre season or TC, I said we had the potential to finish 13-3. The losses can't be changed, but we've lost to teams we were basically suppose to lose to and for the most part dominated teams we're better than. Some that feels weird is we're winning games we're suppose to right now and not letting teams hang around. If we continue like this there is a good chance we can finish 12-4. Back to what you said about noise in the playoffs is that the defense always seems to take it up another notch when we reach the post season.

After this game against the falcons, ravens defense is now #1 in PPG, total TD's allowed and red zone td%

Dean pees sitting back laughing at all those hating on his top 5 D prediction haha

How many other teams have 4 blowout wins? Thats the mark of a good team.

Blowing out bad teams does not necesarrily make you a good one. We lost to both playoff contenders we faced this year. Lets not pat ourselves on the back just yet.

We can talk about whatever we want. The Ravens ARE one of the best teams in the NFL right now. Sorry if you don't like that.

Do you have ANY facts to back that up or are you just gonna keep talking out your bottom?

So, we're average or bottom feeders? Which is it?

Edit - Oh yeah, facts. #1 D in PPG and #6 O in PPG. Good enough?

Lots of teams barely squeak by with a win against bad teams. Good teams blow out bad teams, and we have done it 4 times. Like it or not that matters, and its reflected in objective measures like DVOA that rates us extremely high.

#2 in DVOA before blowing out atlanta. Best point diff in the league. Best defense in points allowed. Seems like you are the one talking out of your bottom.

Why yes, I would agree.

No no no. It's always better for us as the under the radar team.

It seems like any time we get national attention we blow what should be an easy game or an expected win. Always feels like players buy into the hype too.

Let's just watch the team continue to take care of business, quietly have the #1 scoring defense and the highest differential in Point margins offensively and defensively. While the league continues to clamor for Cowboys, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.

Brady's fallen out of fashion this season for Philip Rivers, but I agree.

Pff grades the ravens offense combined second overall and defense first overall. First in pass rush(by a lot... Funny I thought it was missing lol). #5 in run defense. The only team with a top five grade in both offense and defense. Denver the only team within the top ten in both.

Speaks to how well balanced this team is.

According to PFF the only area that we have struggled is in pass coverage which should be surprising to no one. I don't think their grading is perfect by any stretch, but I would say the overall team  grades match up pretty well with what I have seen. The front 7 is dominant both rushing the passer and stopping the run. The OL is playing exceptionally well with the single exception of James Hurst. This has led to a very strong running game and a passing game that is reliable.

More confirmation of what we have been saying. I wasn't surprised by what they had. Individually or as a team.

We've played two teams with a winning record and lost to both of them.

It's too early to say that. The reason the Bengals are a winning team and the Steelers, Browns and Panthers aren't is because we only lost to the Bengals. Not counting games played against us, we're 3-2 against teams with winning records.

No doubt, but lets beat another playoff contender before we coronate ourselves.

We are doing really well though, and the defense seems to be doing better. Hopefully the offense stays consistent. If we hold it together, we can take the division.

I completely agree that winning against good teams matters as well, but there is a lot to like about the way the team is playing right now.
