We got no pass rush on him because he was releasing the ball so quickly. I think someone here was saying he was getting rid of it in 2.1 seconds at times. Even if he had five literal road cones in front of him, he'd be getting it away at times.

I wouldn't be surprised if we focussed more on taking away the shorter routes this time. Have a guy ready to flatten Gio the second he catches it and make AJ Green win deep.

Yea good point, if he was getting rid of the ball that quick, there is no real pass rush in the world that can stop that. If I remember correctly from that game, the screens were really hurting us, so yea, we probably do focus on taking away the short passes and need to tackle soundly.

The Bengals are better than they've shown over the past few games; it's not unusual for teams to experience a slump. My concern is knowing the best motivation to overcome a slump is a home game against a rival. Hopefully the Ravens jump on them and pin them to the ground from the start.

This will be a good mid-season test to set the tone at the end of the second quarter of the season.

I'm sure the Bengals coaching staff has taken notice of the 10 sacks in the last 2 games.  I'm sure the Ravens D will see more of those quick passes to limit the pass rush.

Agreed. I'm less worried about our defense containing their offense, because I think even if Green plays, he's going to be at least somewhat limited. They are pretty thin in the pass-catching area at this point, and as long as we don't have any blown assignments on the back end, I think we can load the box pretty well and take away the run game.

The question is whether our offense will show a better performance against their defense, which is still one of the better one's in the league from a talent perspective in my opinion. I think if we can score 20+ points, we should be in a great position to win the game.

I just don't want our fans to expect our offense to hum along and be super efficient like we have been pretty consistently for the last couple weeks, because I don't expect us scoring a lot of points and moving the ball tremendously well to be as easy as it has appeared recently...

Play press coverage, look what the Colts did.

It doesn't hurt that we got a taste of the screen game again last week against Atlanta. They used it quite a few times.

I think if the Ravens score more points than the Bengals, they stand a pretty good chance.

Motivation, yes, but a crushing loss at home to a division rival after things have been spiraling downward for a few weeks can be the finally straw that completely demoralizes that team. That's what I am looking forward to. I want to stomp on their hopes and dreams and cripple their self-esteem. If they lose badly, they will likely not be a factor in the division the rest of the way (though they did make the playoffs a couple seasons ago after a mid-season four-game losing streak, so who knows?). They don't even have a bye week coming up to look forward to picking up the pieces. In fact, it seems the bye week ruined their season thus far. We can put another nail in their coffin.

Dag!  your a cruel dude!  lol

It should be enjoyable, no doubt. But I'll enjoy it much more when we do similar to the following week's opponent.

That'll be good, too, but I don't see Pitt being a team that will just disintegrate and lose hope like that. I actually don't think Pitt is that good, but they'll hang around, as always, until late in the season (hurting their draft choice, haha).

Absolutely, but for some reason Pees does not like to play a lot of press coverage. I guess maybe some of our corners don't do well in press? I dunno, but I consistently see at least one corner 5-10 yards off the LOS.

That's true, Atlanta uses a lot of screens and for the most part we contained everything they threw at us. Good point, and hopefully we got some good practice. Hell when you play against Roddy White and Julio Jones, and keep them for the most part contained, than you should be able to do that against anybody.

That's true, we did contain Julio and White but there's a missing ingredient here: OL. There's a stark difference between the Bengals' OL and the Falcons' OL.

I actually think we match up quite well with them. We just need to whack Gio whenever he gets the ball on the short routes and prevent him killing us with YAC (easier said than done, but I like CJ and Upshaw as matchups). Green will play imo, but won't be 100%. Like I say, I think we can keep him limited. Hill improving will be nice, and if Greg Little's on the field we can play 11 against 10.

Defensively they're not that flash. This is the side that made Trent Richardson look good - 'nuff said. Get Forsett and LT going, and I like Joe vs their secondary.

We're 0-5 in divisional revenge games during that same season, and haven't won two straight on the road in what seems like ages, but I think this is the best chance we'll have to break both of those in a long time.

Webb playing all the snaps will help...for the first meeting I dont think the secondary was as settled as they appear to be now.

NFL.com has the Bengals winning by 1.

That should give incentive to the Ravens since they are now the underdogs.  Fix left Tackle problem and provide more time to Flacco and good run blocking.  Flacco to stop giving up INTs., receivers get the first downs.

This is the first live game i get to watch via stream (Thank you NZ Labour Day)! Hope we keep the mistakes to a minimum, and I'll take the W.

I know AJ didn't practice for them, is he expected to play?

You don't have Game Pass? It's frustrating as hell at times, but still worth it - especially if you can't watch games at the time.

AJ Green still hasn't been practicing, and Rotoworld says "he's not looking good for Sunday's game". I wouldn't be surprised if he found a way to suit up, but I don't think he'll be at his best.

Not this year. Too late for it imo, so just acquire the games and catch replays and watch (even though I know the result - can't help but track teh game at work!).

I just hope we don't give up those big, long range TDs we're prone to do with big WRs like AJ. Gio and Sanu are the ones to keep tabs on defensively imo.

(Also nice avatar! I'm an Aucklander myself but find my ITM Cup rugby loyalty resting with the Magpies. Good luck for tonight :)!)

Haha, cheers. I'd say good luck to your guys, but I'm still gutted about three years ago. :P

For all the talk about rushing Dalton, I think cutting off his weapons will be the key to victory.

Rotoworld says Burfict is on track to play, which is a problem for the offence but nothing that can't be overcome. He'll probably knock himself out by trying to tackle LT with his head or something stupid.

Considering I see Jimmy play press somewhat frequently and I don't see others in press, I'd think it was because all of our corners except Jimmy suck at press. That goes for Webb too. He's just not big enough for press. He used to be able to handle press but I don't know if he can anymore after the knee and back injuries.

We all talk about a fast start which of course is always needed, but third-down offense (and why not add third-down defense) is gonna be critical. Running the ball effectively to hopefully get in third and short situations should be in our advantage, kinda like what the Chargers did to the Seahawks.

Oh I almost forgot, LIMIT THE DROPS!

That goes for both Receivers AND DBs!

Yes! Especially the DBs. These potential turnovers could have Dalton's confidence shot and I'm all for it (sounds violent, but whatever).
