Colts a reason why there should be a draft Lottery

23 posts in this topic

Does anyone notice that the Colts were losing games on Purpose during their 2011 season after they released Peyton Manning?

It would not be a bad idea to have a lottery for the top 10 picks. And I don't like that the NFL is enforcing competitive balance either!

The NFL teams that a well runned like our Ravens with Ozzie, should not have to suffer with competitive balance!

If you notice the Colts 2-14 they were not even trying, and I know the Colts fans paid good money to not see them loose a game. Without Peyton Mannign they should have at least been a 6-10 team.

Why don't they just have some class and refund their money or give them a game for free now that they "Stole" Andrew Luck?

A good solution is to have the Colts investigated and have them surrender 2 first rounders. That would be a good justice to the NFL.

It is really annoying that the worst teams suddenly become playoff teams that' not good for the nfl. Teams that were on the brink of contention should be the one making the playoofs last year. A league of progession and trends is how the NFL should be runned.

Like I said well runned teams like the Ravens should not have to suffer with compeititive balance by making bad teams great the next year.

Also let's have a Draft Lottery for the top 10 picks it would make more sense and it would be fair to the entire league to not have any surprises in competition. So here is how it should go down:

100 Lottery Balls

Worst 4 teams: Each get 15 balls (15% chance each) (60 balls)

Bad Teams 5-8: Each get 7 balls (7% Chance each) (28 Balls)

Bad teams 9 and 10: Each get's 6 balls (6% chance) (12 Balls)

There you go and have the Colts surrender 1 or 2 1st round picks.

It's just too hard to beleive that the Colts were as bad as a 2 win team! They still had talent with Reggie Wayne, Robert Mathis and that solid defense.

So they had to had tank the season unethically!

Lol. No they were that bad. Zero chance 53 men. Professional football players tanked a season just for a draft pick. Lol.

I'm not sure I have words for this. You run a big risk if you tank a season. That's a very big risk. I really don't think they did that and even if they did so what. If the Ravens wanted the first overall, they could get it just as easily.

Um no. When you have to bring Kerry Collins out of retirement and then use Curtis Painter at QB, you are going to have a bad season.

Competitive balance is what makes the NFL so great. Just look at the MLB and NBA for comparisons.

If they wanted to lose every game, they would have just left Curtis Painter as their QB all year.  The fact that they cycled through 3 guys shows that they at least wanted to remain competitive.  They simply didn't have the talent to compete.

People's jobs are on the line. Coaches, Players, and Management Staff. These are professional athletes playing for their jobs and they have chips on their shoulders. Example being Geno Smith, poor football player that thinks he's gods gift to football. These guys ain't losing for draft picks

The year we got Flacco, do you think Ray Lewis says, hey guys let's lose these games on purpose so we can get Matt Ryan!?

What makes you think the Colts leadership would do that knowing very well they could lose their jobs. This thread is absurd.

Colts defense was never really solid except for maybe 2 years with a healthy Bob Sanders. Otherwise they were a team with 2 excellent pass rushers Freeney and Mathis but suspect defenders everywhere else and never could stop the run. Also that colts team had Addai as its top back he never actually ran tough like Edgerrin James. Take Peyton and his style of offense where he reads defenses becomes a coach on field it's completely reasonable.

I don't even like the NBA draft lottery, I hope the NFL doesn't adopt such a system.

Also poorly ran teams or sorry teams don't just get better because they stock pile picks. If that organization can't develop the talent further with solid coaching etc it won't matter. Just look at how many years the lions, Browns, raiders, cardinals, Bucs and saints spent being sorry while drafting high. It took solid free agent pickups to help those teams.

Raiders - for example have been poorly ran for decades. Then they got rich Gannon had some solid playoff runs and back to obscurity ( draft picks and all ).

Lions had how many top 10 picks. Joey Harrington, C.Rogers,M.Williams, R.Williams back to back to back. Drafted C.Johnson and still went 0-16.

Cincinnati seemed to draft Top 5-10 every year in early to mid 90s.

High draft picks don't equal instant power shifts and success.

Agree and I hope your right. because teams that are well run (Ravens and Ozzie) don't deserve to have surprise compeitiion imho

Actually, given the colts ownership, it is highly plausible they tanked their season for luck.

The Irsays are very shady people
