I won't cry until I see our lineup for next season and see a different RF

And then again when that RF makes an error cause I don't know what an error from RF looks like

Sorry though, codizzle. I know he was your boy and you'll probably need a new jersey now.

It makes me feel sick too.

Hopefully there's a silver lining to all of this....

Very anxious to see where our money goes. Even though it's still unlikely, I wonder if we're back in the mix for Miller?

Just saw a photo already made of him in a Braves uni.... Ugh

I hope Nick tears it up and makes us look stupid for being caught up over a 4th year and 12 million. .....Am I being naive? I'm saying, It's rare to see any players play up to their contract. Why couldn't we just bite the freaking bullet and make him an oriole for life?

I hope so. I would be OK with losing Cruz and Markakis if we retained Andrew Miller. I would pay him closer money, no offense to Zach Britton - I love the guy, but IMHO Miller could be the best relief pitcher in MLB.

Sometimes you have to take the sentimentality out of it, and that's what Duquette did.  The Braves are going to hate that contract in a couple of years.  It's hard to see a fan favorite leave, but overpaying a guy isn't a good option either.

I'll eat crow if I'm wrong but I think we'll end up regretting it

Holy fire sale everyones leaving the O's, cruz, markaksis. I hope they have some new bats lined up in free agency since they surely anticipated well in advance contracts weren't being renewed.

I don't.  No disrespect to Markakis, but he's headed toward being a slap hitter without speed.

We'll miss you Nick, but $44 million is a bit much for a slow guy with no power. We're going to need a new lead-off, though.

I'm not worried about the money but more about the team. He'll fade fter about one or two more years. I'd give him 3 years $33 million in a heartbeat. But, since baseball money is all guaranteed, he's gotta take the extra 11 million.

I think we lead older Cruz and Markakis walk to keep three of Miller, Weiters, Davis, and Tillman in the future.

Nick has to share some of the "blame" in this. The Orioles were willing to guarantee $33 million, which would have put him well over $100 million from the organization. Did he really NEED another year guaranteed? He could have been an Oriole for life if he wanted.

Fire sale? lol. Not even close. These guys were FA's. Dariel Alverez will be up next year I would guess. I'm also interested in Rasmus or Morse, both have pop... Rasmus has speed, neither are as durable as The Greek... But not many are. We also need a legit lead-off.

If healthy the line-up stacks like this:

De Aza RF

Machado 3B

Jones CF

Davis 1B

Pearce LF

Young DH

Wieters C

Hardy SS

Schoop 2B

Yup... Adios. Wasn't a big fan of him anyhow , especially not for 11 mil per. I'm glad we didn't do 4 years.

Or ... If he was still producing at a high level in year 4, he could sign another deal and likely contract values would be higher 3 years from now.

Cruz and Markakis gone. Miller on his way to the Yankees. This has been one heck of an offseason by the "Executive of the Year."

To be fair, a lot of people said the same thing last year, and then we found a bargain in Cruz at the beginning of spring training.  Baseball is a long offseason.  It may not look good now but I suggest giving it time.

Hey, at least Angelos has spent a few million (just that I know of) marketing for a tort case that I am involved in and he's produced ZERO qualified cases. Way to go, bud!

How he become wealthy is beyond me...

If somehow we found a way to keep Miller I would be totally happy with this off-season.

That's true too. But there that neck injury thing that popped up.

Thats what I've been telling all my friends. Calm down, this means we can keep guys like Miller and maybe get Kemp.
