Rumors are that Miami wants to upgrade at 1B and are willing to give up a top 30 LHP prospect to do so..... Names Andrew Heaney.....MLB has him ranked 18th overall.

In a heartbeat

It kind of has me excited.... I doubt it would be a straight up trade but I'm willing to give up a lesser prospects arm to go along with cd for a potential TOR who is apparently close to being called up

(Thinking out loud)

Trading CD will free up at least 11M that could ultimately go towards getting Cruz or Markakis done.

Also wouldn't have to rely on CD having a bounce back year... If he struggles like last season, do we really want that long term? If he goes off then there's no way we'd be able to resign him since he's a FA after 2015 who would demand coin.

Would give us a great young core of pitcher just waiting in the wings... Which in turn, gives Dan and Buck plenty of options and flexibility.

It would be an absolute luxury to have Bundy, Heaney and Harvey whenever we need one, just waiting for the call up. Best of all, none of them would be rushed since we currently already have solid ML pitching....But adding another young promising arm, a lefty could allow us to make a number of trades and improve the entire roster... Which is especially important since we're not active FA spenders

Only negative is we know what we got in CD.... Sort of, anyway.

Heaney is unproven and for all we know, could become the next Matusz. *knock on wood*. But being left handed reduces the risk of bust, (a little bit at least.. If he fails as a starter, LH reliever is still a valuable asset.)

I hope Dan pulls the trigger.

Yeah I wouldn't have gone more than 3 years.  Still, it sucks to see him go.  I thought he was a great fit here in talent and personality.

I think we hit his ceiling last year so I am fine selling high on him, still sad to see him go but I am not surprised, especially after the drop off from Chris Davis last year

Sucks. I think we're really going to end up missing him. I'll always look back with fond memories of him....Wish him the best, except when it's vs us. Wouldn't of been of good move for us but I like it for Seattle...

How do we replace him?

Just saw the Cruz news. Thanks Nelson for bringing October baseball back to Baltimore. Now, where do we go now, and yes I'm all in on trading Davis. Reggie Jackson was an Oriole for one year. Dan where do we go from here? I believe!!

I'll be livid if we trade Bundy and others for Kemp. Someone tell me this won't happen.

I'll automatically place the orioles right back where they were in my mind for about 14 years..

Complete disappointment

We didn't sell him... He wasn't ours, when you sell... You get something in return...

Either way, I'd be cautious with Nelly.. He's older, former PED guy and had his best year last year ... In a contract year. If we end up giving the Greek a similar deal though... I'll be pissed!

Yeah that is true, you get the point though. Coming off a huge year like that, people are paying for him at that production which I don't think he lives up to.

Well technically, I believe we get a draft pick.

I think seattle will be quite good this year now that cruz is playing for them since offense has always been the issue wit seattle. That contract is too expensive for his age though.

At the end of this day, better  the  Mariner's than the Yankees. Who is our RF next season?  Is Dan the man?

Markakis now less than likely to resign. Yankees are leading candidates.... Sigh

Reports are Dan isn't willing to go over 3 years. I hope he knows what he's doing. Don't know bout y'all but I don't want a rotation of De Aza/ Alvarez

Yup. Gonna give him benefit of the doubt though, since he's earned it. But not liking the offseason so far.

Me either. Losing Cruz hurts. I hope we don't lose Miller too. I like to see us sign a few decent picks, not like last year throwing away money on guys like Jimenez instead of signing proven players, although we lucked out on Cruz.

Part of the problem is we're stuck with Jimenez and his contract. That reduces the money available. We had Cruz for fairly cheap. We're going to have to hope Manny stays healthy and some of the other younger guys step up.

It'd be nice if we could flip him for another expensive contract.  It's clear he doesn't have much of a spot here, so getting someone at another position would probably be more beneficial.  I don't know what the team thinks of his changed wind-up and whether or not that will make him at least serviceable, though.
