Vontaze Burfict gets $25,000 fine for twisting ankles

22 posts in this topic

I just think the game tape proves he deserves at least a one game suspension. IMHO, his blatent ankle twists after the play was over is some of the dirtiest things I have seen since Albert Haynesworth kicked Andre Gurode. I think the League office went light on him.

I understand two quarterbacks are under the NFL protection plan but am still surprised it wasn't at least one game since Cam is a franchise QB and had surgery on the ankle or foot this offseason.

No argument it was a total bush league play.

I was hoping for more! There was a KC player that got caught on tape grabbing another's 'man parts' on tape lol but seriously it seems like he was trying to take Cam Newton OUT grabbing his surgically repaired ankle.

Burfict has a history of dirty plays going all the way back to his college days.  I don't care if he's playing for a divisional rival or someone in the NFC, the man has consistently shown that he will attempt to injure other plays regardless of the rules of the game.

NFL has failed here.  Won't be long before Burfict seriously injures another player unnecessarily.

I think he should have gotten a fine and a suspension. Going after two players with a recent history of ankle problems shows an obviously premeditated decision that was a deliberate attempt to injure, that could have resulted in ended careers.

This guy is not only a danger to other players, but to himself and his team, as evidenced by the late hit penalty in the last OT mins. of the game.  He obviously can't control himself in matters of this nature, so his team and the NFL should give him stringent reprimands to help him get the message, because it clearly isn't getting though to him at this point.

Bad decision. Not only Newton - Olsen had questionable status all week due to ankle injury as well. Can the intent be any more obvious?

Ironcrotch!

I hate seeing Flacco get hit but once he got hurt from it and Flacco was fine, I kinda let that one slide. Still more a penalty than that McPhee hit on Ben

Agreed 100% You don't hurt other players intentionally. That's how you get bad blood in the locker room. Someone is going to target him now. Perhaps not his team but another.

Well, next infraction he gets sent to the principal's office it's being reported. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.

I read he's inactive this week? only saw it in passing but was curious if injury related or because of this stuff.

Correction Officer to the rescue!  That was Upshaw's hit, not McPhee.

I saw Bobby Wagner of the Seahawks make that same hit on Romo with no flag. Inconsistent but at least they got it right the second time.
