Jimmy played a good game... BUT when the DLINE is eating right, the Secondary sure looks better! ; ). I was glad to see Chykie Brown inactive!

Definitely Julio. Julio is the most explosive receiver in the NFL and is the bigger threat

And our guys did a really decent job of covering Ryan and him yesterday...

It helped that we had more help back there yesterday too.

In his defense, Jimmy has been doing it all season before the pass rush went on this tear, even though I thought they were pretty good before. Jimmy is only benefiting in the sense that he's getting chances to make plays on errant throws, but he's got to make that interception

They did an excellent job to the point that Julio was almost relegated to getting the ball via screens

My point is, the pass rish CAN make the WHOLE secondary look good. Ryan was under duress most of the day and the secondary didnt have to cover those guys for extended periods of time.... even still, Webb gave up 100 yards and that was disappointing.

Jimmy has really good hands for a corner, actually. I don't know how he let that one get away

A pass rush most certainly can make a secondary look excellent, no matter how mediocre they are.

Did Webb really? Wonder how much came in garbage time

A good portion of it. Probably 45- 50 passing yards were allowed the last minute of the game. Not saying all those yards were on Webb, but I'm pretty sure some of them were.

I didn't really notice any of the corners, which is good. I wasn't upset at all.

I also just remembered I saw a stat for Webb that said eight catches for 83 yards

Funny how people on here going crazy about losing Jimmy smith. He still has a 5th option and could even be franchise tagged if the team couldn't get a long term deal done now. People talk as if the team is just going to let Jimmy be an UFA with no worries.

Since Jimmy got passed his injuries. He has been steadily improving, gaining awareness etc. I felt that last season he developed enough to warrant considering a contract extension even before Torrey but since Torrey was due a contract with no 5yr option I figured the team might wait.

Nnamdi Asomgua....or something like that. ;)

Yea... The guy that is out of the league and underperformed on his last contract.

Pff gives him letting up 8 catches on 10 targets for 83 yards. Not good.

I wish they did a breakdown by quarter.

What were the stats for Jimmy, since this is a Jimmy thread.

Definitely had two passes defensed, but still a pretty ridiculous game nonetheless. What was his overall and coverage grade

They gave him a .7 in coverage. Took a hit in penalty -.9 giving him -.1 overall +6 on the year.

I'm right there with you bud. So much so that I got my Jimmy Smith jersey this offseason and wear it with PRIDE!!

He came on last season facing the likes of Megatron, Antonnio Brown, Aj Green, BMarsh and gave up ONE TD to that group(technically) that was the hail marry to Aj. That's when I realized that this guy is a BALLER! The one thing that he needs to do go to get his recognition is to get his hands on the ball more: record more PBU's and ultimately INT's.

He played great.  The interception attempt is merited. I wish he snatched it. With Hill I bellieve he will gain more confidence in cover schemes. I'm still looking for another TD by the Jus.

I find it odd that -.9 is their default grade when you get a single penalty, but if you don't commit a penalty, it's only a +.1 or a +.2.

I personally don't think the grades tell the whole picture of how well a player is doing, PFF admit that themselves. Review of the raw data and watching the games shows just how good of a year Jimmy is having. While he did allow a number of catches in the Tampa game, he generally allowed receptions underneath and on long downs. The fact his YAC is so low despite giving up quite a number of receptions is telling that he's a premier corner in my opinion.

On the year he is:

20/39 (51.3%), 163 yards (8.2avg), 42 YAC, 0 TDs, 1 INT, 4 PDs

Comparing him to corners who have played over 60% over snaps: 11th for completion percentage, 2nd in yards, 3rd in YAC, 1 of only 8 corners who have not allowed a TD (Chris Harris Jr and Vontae Davis being arguably the only two corners above him).
