I AM LEGEND

Did we drop the ball with Rolando McClain?

He didn't want to work to pass his physical.. Not sure what kind of physical the Cowboys dish out for him to go pass it so quickly. He has played inspired football for them.

It's too bad we didn't strap a performance escalator on the conditional draft pick. Like if he achieves leading team in tackles pick becomes 4th rounder. If he makes pro bowl 3rd rounder. But again based on 2 retirements in about a year's time who could have predicted this. I felt the second retirement was more of a cop out to avoid competing for a roster spot in camp.

I feel when he came back the last time he realized he would not be the top dog. I think he feared the competition and realized he would not get the play time he wanted. So that was the " not a good fit for him " part. But Dallas needed a LB desperately. He was able to jump right in and become the GUY. No competition.

Just my thought.

Not lazy but iirc he did make a comment that he did want to be low key. It's like ellerbe deciding that Miami was a better spot because he'd be in ray's shadow here and as a result God told him Miami is the spot for him

Or that miami offered him double what we where probably gonna pay.

He's looking great with the Cowboys. With Lee out and McClain filling that role it's like they havent missed a beat.

If someone doesn't want to play here, they should go somewhere else. John Elway was a case in point. The Baltimore Colts didn't drop the ball on Elway. He refused to play in Baltimore and let's face it ---- there's no comparison between Elway and Rolando McClain. I'm more disappointed we didn't keep Jameel McClain and John Simon. In the long run, the deal with Dallas will make more sense.

I can't believe this thread hasn't died yet.

In the NFL, Rolando is a JAG... just another guy.

Two years from now, this will be one of those LOL threads.

I'm not sure we could've ever received more for McClain even with his good play of late. I think the 6th round pick is and was more than fair. Granted, we gave up a pick and player for a pick but I think the deal is still good.

We traded Boldin for a similar pick. It's not like he's been some world beater all these years. If Arthur Brown hasn't suited up you know McClain wouldn't have either.

It's been two weeks now, so I'm inclined to agree with this.

He's playing well and I'm happy about that. He and Mosley would have been a vicious duo in the middle. Pipe Dreaming.... Ugh Ro was built for the 3-4

If that was the case of Rolando not suiting up, he would've been a huge problem. I think it works out for the best. When I see him on Dallas I don't really see him. I just picture a big 6th round pick running around the field dressed in purple.
