I AM LEGEND

Did we drop the ball with Rolando McClain?

Cowboys took him from us for dirt cheap.

He might be one of the key components in there defensive turnaround.

What was it our coaching staff did or didnt see in him?

What did we see from him anyways? What work did he actually put in as a Raven besides filling his retirement papers twice and failing a conditioning test?

Seriously, did he even wear a piece of purple clothing?

Obviously he and Mosley would be tremendous, but you can't give a guy a third chance.  I'm happy for him, guy clearly had issues and had to work them out.  Hopefully he can help his two boys.

Yeah.  He had a great play in a Dallas uniform and that is all.

At this point, I'm glad we traded him because we will get more quality years from Mosely, but I do wish we would have at least gotten more from the Mcclain trade

The only ball we dropped regarding Rolando McClain would have been made of crystal ...

I am not going to fault our organization for not being able to see into the future, despite all the evidence we were shown in the present that he didn't  care about playing here or anywhere else for that matter.

The only team that was going to give him a chance at that point was a team that was desperate for help at his position ... and that was not us. So Dallas got lucky that they had a need and Rolando decided that he felt like playing football again after all.

Yes, we did. We should have shackled him to the field and made him play. In front of Smith...wait, scratch that. In front of Mosley...wait, scratch that.

Forget everything above. We got something for someone that didn't even want to suit up for us = win!

Did we drop the ball with all the UDFAs who chose to sign with another team and are making contributions? At least we got a 6th rounder out of this one.

It wasn't the ravens that didn't want mcclain, it was mcclain who didn't want to play football until he got his head screwed on straight. Plus, if Arthur Brown isn't active on game day then why would mcclain? Would just be another person to fit on an already crowded roster. At least with the trade we can actually get something.

Rolando is the one who dropped the ball, now he has to play on the Cowboys.

You know this is the first season where that's not so bad.

It's not December yet. They'll find a way to go 8-8.

I don't think we dropped the ball per se, but you're flat out kidding yourself if you think Daryl is playing better than Rolando right now. Part of me wishes we'd have Rolando starting next to Mosley. That would be a hell of a tandem.

I think we gave them a really good player for really low value. I know that's all we realistically could have got for him, but it sucks that we gave them so much so little in return.

I don't think we dropped the ball so much as Rolando screwed us over and gave us no other options.

Are we only asking this question because he intercepted a pass and was on Sportscenter for it?

Not sure what exactly I'm supposed to like about Rolando McClain...

Rolando made it obvious that he wasn't willing to put in the work it takes to become a Raven.  It's unfortunate that he's doing so well because we knew he had that type of talent, but he never showed any indication in his short time(s) here that he was willing to reach it.  He simply had no place here.

I hope we play DAL and Juice or KO or someone smashes him on a block. No hate but no love for the guy. Like T.O., Elway, and anyone else who declined to play for a BMore franchise...MEH'em

Yes, we should never of made him take a conditioning test, those things are just too hard and too tedious for an NFL player to do. We shouldn't have expected him to work to make our roster. We should have told him, "Hey, show up and we guarantee you'll start for us on Sundays." That's what Jerry did, and in a bizarre twist of fate it's working out for him somehow. So far. It's BS but whatever. But the other 9 times out of 10 you manage your team that way and they end up like the Jets are now.

On the bright side, Rolando should easily meet the playing requirements for us to get a draft pick. If I recall correctly we traded him for a conditional 6th or 7th rounder based on playing time. I'll take it.

Remember, he is only one a one year contract. How much do you want to bet Jerry gives him a big contract after the year and he goes all Jared Gaither on them?

If I recall, we get a sixth for our seventh if he plays half the Cowboys snaps this season. Can't really complain about something for nothing.

Correct.  If he plays 50% of the snaps, we get their 6th and give them our 7th.  I know there are tons of stipulations if he doesn't reach that, mostly involving draft picks in 2016.

we didn't drop the ball , he retired twice with us, unmotivated, and he seems that he didn't want play or compete for spot with ravens, dallas lacked depth. remember we r getting a 6th rounder for him if he plays lights out this season.

No, we didn't drop the ball. Jacoby Jones did. Oh, wait. Never mind. Lol.

Well, he has played awesome on that Cowboys 4-3 defense. It's a shame he didn't have the same success here, but I'm glad for him he is playing again and playing well. I'm also happy we will get a nice 6th round pick. Hopefully the Cowboys implode so it'll be a mid or upper 6th round pick, but they look really good this year.

Dallas is as close to a prefect situation for McClain as he could have gotten. I would have loved to see he and CJ together because despite his issues he's still a top 10 talent or was should I say. Those 2 guys together in the middle would have been insane imo. I think it would have been great for both the Ravens and McClain.

The reason I say the Dallas situation is prefect was because they didn't have much of a choice but to put him on the field right away. The Ravens would have made him earn it and at this point in the season he probably wouldn't have surpassed Smith yet. Also he is close to home. All his trouble has come while in Alabama or just the south period, but that's also where his mentors and leadership is. He can stay plugged in to the Nick Saban's of the worlds much easier in Dallas then he would in Baltimore imo. I'm happy the guy seems to have his life together and having success on the field. Without seeing him play again nobody would have given the Ravens more then what they got so it's a win for both sides.

would of been nice to have him over Smith cause he has a problem with dropping back in coverage ie....getting old.
