Terrance Cody

33 posts in this topic

I am not 100% sure on the rules but what happens to Terrance Cody?  I thought you could only keep a player o n the PUP list up to week 6?  What does everyone think we should do since Brandon Williams is doing such a great job?  I'm personally okay with cutting Cody, I haven't been high on his since his initial draft.  I really don't think theres room on the 53.

Keep him for depth purposes at a minimum.  With Canty being out, outside of Williams and Ngata there's a bunch of journeymen filling in on the D-Line

I believe Week 6 - this game - is the earliest he can return but he can be in limbo, inactive, for up to 3 weeks before we decide what to do

I can't believe Guy or the other guy we picked up is better then cody. cody was a but who spent more time off his feet then on his feet. i noticed Kitchens is getting some time on the DL for the browns. he looked good for us during training camp a couple of years ago.

You have 3 weeks from now to get him back to practice, and from his 1st practice, you have 3 weeks to activate him. We can keep him until week 12 before making a decision.

I do remember Kitchen, I really wanted to keep him.  I also think that the guys we picked up haven't been bad options.  Cody has just been nagged with injuries.  I have to give the guy credit though he has lost a lot of weight to try to get healthy.

I think he'll stick around until at least week 12. He's at least insurance if a guy gets hurt. I think he could replace one of the two DL we signed as free agents, but we'll see.

With how injured our D-line is he is certainly welcomed back. Don't forget people, Terrence Cody has more talent than he knows what to do with.

Disagree. Would rather see Jernigan play.

Who knows. Maybe the injury really did hinder him last year. The depth and knowledge of the scheme should be a welcomed addition. The win yesterday has gI've me a slightly optimistic view.

Canty injured, Jernigan injured. Kapron Lewis, Urban.. I know most of them are DEs but I mean we could use Cody on short yardage situations and goalline beside Brandon WIlliams. I gotta agree Williams has been a STUD this season. Looks like Cody is in GREAT shape down to 327 and 20% body fat.

lets see what he can do. that guy we got from the Bengals had playing time... I'm sure Cody can beat him

Just to remind people, Cody is a NT, a position we don't really have depth at. We have Williams and then Ngata in a pinch, but having Cody active helps us if Williams is hurt or needs a breather.

So yeah, Jernigan will be back soon, but that doesn't really affect whether Cody helps us or not. Jernigan does not play NT (in the NFL). Cody does.

I'm sure we'd love to leave Ngata out on the end.  It seems that we really like Lawrence Guy, but it would not surprise me at all if we swapped Cody in for Bilukidi whenever he's ready.  Bilukidi will eventually be fazed out once Canty and Jernigan get healthy, but Cody would likely stick around due to him playing that NT position, as you said.

Without having access to any PFF stats, I'd say Lawrence Guy is the best player no-one's talking about right now. He looked good in the last two games imo.

Be interesting to see what happens between him, Cody, Canty and Jernigan once the two start to get healthy again.

I agree. My vote would be to just IR Canty. The young'uns have held up in his absence, so I'd rather them be on the field.

I'd guess they'll have him practice the full 3 weeks before deciding who to release.  Unfortunately, a lot of times, these decisions are kind of made for them when a roster spot opens up because someone else got hurt and had to go on IR.

I think they'll just keep him practicing and watch our other players. If Jernigan has a risk of further hurting his knee, he'll be IR'd for Cody.

A healthy Cody is huge. People forget about how talented he is due to his weight struggles but he seems healthy , refocused , and of course lighter.

I forgot how talented he was since he never showed his talent...besides being pushed around and being beat out of a starting gig two years ago by a dude who was out of football and the tail end of his career in Kemo who was bad in his own right.

I hope Cody comes in and plays up to his billing, but I have very little confidence that he can do that.

Interested to see how Cody does, especially in light of his significant weight loss. This could very well be his last chance here. He needs to prove something.

Though, he may be back. Ngata and Canty won't be here much longer. Subtracting them leaves us with Jernigan, Tyson, Williams, Guy, KLM, and Urban. We might actually need him after this year. That group is full of young linemen who don't really play NT, other than Williams of course. Barring a system change, I think Cody is back next year, unless he completely tanks it the rest of this year.

He graded out really well for the Chargers, not sure about this year. I was really excited to get him.

I'm excited to see Cody. He just seems so motivated, getting himself down to 20% body fat. I think he realizes this is his last real shot and I'd imagine he's ready to run with it.

Which would be the first time he's ready to run with anything. :P
